The House GOP establishment celebrated its hard-fought $6 billion budget cut on a day in which the US government spent $72 billion. Optics and conservative-pitched rhetoric remain all that is important to these elected show ponies — and at least the GOP House leadership believes we’ll be satisfied that they are doing all they can to satisfy the mandate Americans gave them in November. When of course they are not.

Paging SEK… [updated]
Just a guy Obama knew from the neighborhood. Who also happened to write the book that so many in the political class, both left and right, swooned over on their way to helping install the least vetted — and most demonstrably leftist — “historical” President in US history. Jack Cashill: Last Thursday evening at Montclair State University, with a video camera rolling, Bill Ayers volunteered that yes indeed he had
About that "(soft) civil war" I once posited…
True, Professor Brian Kiteley reacted as if I’d called for Biblehumping hicks to take up arms against their more polished and civilized betters, but what I’d actually predicted was a soft civil war that would manifest through changes in demographics, with people self-separating by geographical locale along political and public policy lines. And it looks like I may have been on to something. Michael Barone, writing in the Washington Examiner,

"Senate GOP Demand Balanced Budget Amendment for Raising Debt Ceiling"
Boehner may be cowering heap of heavily tanned fail, but at least McConnell seems to be heading in the right direction of late. Human Events: The Senate Republicans are preparing to tell President Obama that they want a Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) to the Constitution passed in Congress in exchange for raising the statuary debt ceiling above $14.2 trillion. “My hope is that we would force a vote on a
"CBO Sees Benefits in Taxing Motorists Based on Miles Driven"
Me, I see the benefit of telling them to get bent. Or get rid of the gasoline taxes that are already supposed to be paying for highway maintenance and the like. Our freedoms are being taken away one new “mandate” at a time. From CNS: A new Congressional Budget Office study says taxing motorists based on the number of miles they drive would be a fair and “efficient” way to
