It’s not so much that they don’t recognize the law of unintended consequences; it’s that the consequences are in fact intended. With progressives, never write off to ignorance or stupidity what can better be ascribed to malice and an attempt to weaken individual autonomy and a Constitution they see as a barrier to the coming social Utopia.  Which they get to run.
