Will the birthers finally have their day?

All birther eyes are now on Atlanta — and this time, consequences might attach. Of course, what does eligibility matter when you are genuinely trying to do good for the US? By, you know — fundamentally transforming it. Here’s a little bit of advice for Bill O’Reilly: most of us don’t judge a person’s “goodness” by his willingness to appear on our TV show, just as most of us don’t

Dear Chris Christie, Mitt Romney, et al.

Byron York has a history lesson for you. And Sarah Palin believes you should read it and pay close attention, lest you further embarrass your party and prove yourself a bundle of undisciplined, panty-wadded smear proving yourselves to be nothing more than useful idiots helping the left determine who our viable and “electable” candidates are: Given all the attention to the ethics matter, it’s worth asking what actually happened back

Oh. And about that reclamation of “American Values” Obama was on about last evening —

— Evidently, that’s a message for local consumption only — y’know, a rote pander meant to appeal to the jingoists and the xenophobes and the bitter clinging middle-American hayseeds Obama is going to need to con yet again if he’s to have any hope of being re-elected. Whereas in the real world — the world of smart diplomacy and smart elites who Know How Things Get Done — ObamaCo leaves

By the way —

— for all those in the GOP smart set who were Absolutely Crushed when Mitch Daniels decided not to run — and Absolutely Elated when Sarah Palin did the same — well, last night’s official GOP response to the President’s State of the Union Address, I submit, is as clear an indication of how tone deaf is the Republican’s non-existent “Establishment” to the mood of the conservative base as we’re

Obama: “What’s at stake are not Democratic values or Republican values, but American values. We have to reclaim them.”

And everyone knows that the best way to “reclaim” “American values” — a product, one supposes, of that “flawed document,” the Constitution — is by “fundamentally transforming” the United States, whose first proud moment came when its erswhile racist proles banded together to elect Barack Obama President. So we needn’t reach back very far. We just have to re-elect Barack Obama, and all is restored. — Is the takeaway here.

Past is prologue. And prologue is The Future.

Welcome to the Utopian vision. Same as it ever was. (h/t IP and slart)
