Homeland Insecurity

From the RMN wire reports:

Supected members of extremist groups have signed up as school bus drivers in the United States, counterterror officials said Friday in a cautionary bulletin to police.

An FBI spokesman said, “Parents and children have nothing to fear.” Asked about the alert notice, the FBI’s Rich Kolko said, “There are no threats, no plots and no history leading us to believe there is any reason for concern,” although law enforcement agencies were asked to watch out for kids’ safety.

No threats.  No plots.  No history leading us to believe there is any reason for concern.

Why, it’s almost as if the FBI is reading from one of Larry Johnson’s pre-911 columns on Muslim terrorists!

Still—and no offense?—but when my kid is ready for the school bus, I’ll be profiling the hell out of his bus driver.  Progressive watchdogs and/or John McCain are of course welcome to bundle me off to Tolerance Camp—just as soon as the kid graduates.

Yes, Jeff, and I guarantee that when you do, CAIR and the ACLU will be waiting to sue you into the poorhouse. At some point, this country needs to stop allowing it’s legal system to be used as a weapon against it.

  2. jdm says:

Well, heck, they have to not work somewhere. They aren’t allowed to prevent riders carrying alcohol. Nor can they impede purchasers of pork products. They can’t charge interest.

Sheesh, is it any effing wonder why their home countries suck so bad?

  3. In the 12 years I took public transportatiom to school I was mugged four times.  Junior year I was beaten pretty severely and had my books stolen. When I did make it to school, not only was I marked as absent, but since I didn’t have my books or my assignments I lost a letter grade in History.

I would rather have been blown up.

    Bitter?  Ask my therapist.

    I coulda been a contenda!

  4. proudvastrightwingconspirator says:

Not sure which you should fear most:

a)A posible terrorist driving your kids schoolbus

b)A really hot female Social Studies teacher that

initiates a sexual relationship with your kid

c)A politically correct Principal that’ll suspend

you kid for engaging in dangeropous activities

like “tag”, “duck, duck, goose” or “red rover”.

Hell, I vote for home schooling.

  5. Lost My Cookies says:

TW: gonna be here a while16

  6. BumperStickerist says:

I’m less concerned about individual bus drivers than I am about a bus mechanic.

For what should be obvious, if unstated, reasons.

  10. The Lost Dog says:

Terrorist bus drivers should only be about half as scary as the crew I drove school buses with back in the mid-70’s.

A breathalyzer test on any given morning would have left about 80% of the buses with no drivers. A drug test wpild have brought that level up to about 99% between the two.

Wowza! One guy (no, not me) sheared every single bolt in his clutch trying to burn rubber with a busload of kids. We all thought that was hilarious, but the bus company didn’t.

Perhaps I am jaded, but I stillk think life was more fun when the drinking age was 18, and I was a twenty-somethingish young Wet Ears.

Well Jeff, I guess this should give you something to chew on until the first day the school bus stops at your house.

Any future Beslan that occurs at Oak Hollow Elementary School will be spun which way…?

  12. B Moe says:

Judging by the mile long convoy of SUVs and minivans at all the local schools every morning and evening, the terrorist would be the only person on the bus anyway.  Maybe Homeland Security figures it will make them easier to target.

  13. narciso79 says:

Of course, this comes on the heels of those two

Saudis detained for what looked like a ‘dry run’

for such an attack in Tampa. As to how the spin

will go, seeing how the KSM confession has gone

among commenters in my neck of the woods, where

they seriously he is just a poor understood fellow

tortured into confessing at Gitmo. they’ll probably blame Bush(have these people not read Posner, Lance, Wright McDermott, hell any book about 9/11)Which reminds of the recent rant by uber-idiot plutocrat Donald Trump, who seems to have signed up with MoveOn.org: challenging us to reconsider whether Rosie is the truly stupid of the duo (It’s a close call, with his CNN pronouncements)Donald, Saddam was a terrorist, he terrorized Shia and Kurds but also Sunnis, he didn’t do much to go after Khomeini, in the 15 years he was in Najaf, He let Salafis spread

their gospel, despite the seemingly secular Baathist philosophy, most of those commiting violence in Baghdad today, are former members

of Republican Guard,(like Bobby Ghosh’s penpal

    Tariq) Amn-As, Mukharabat etc)God doesn’t it seem

like everyone on TV and most people in print are

morons, dolts, or jihadi facilatators(don’t answer that, Alphie)
