The site is somewhat stable, but I’m having problems with the comments. My host is working on that as we speak. In the meantime, I’m going for a walk with the kid. Back in an hour or so.
Just curious, has your host filed any complaints with its network provider on these DOS attacks? They are illegal and people can be sent to jail for them.
Of course the culprit(s) are usually hard to narrow down, but it can be done.
I just hope this woman doesn’t show up at your house and rifle through your fridge. Who can figure out the deranged mind of a stalker? She sounds like she is really enjoying her moment of glory.
Actually Repub,DDOS atacks are a fairly simple thing to hide…I won’t post the details here, but suffice it to say that there are MANY tools readily available. At very little cost, anyone can do it.
TW:STAND-we need to take a STAND against these pukes
Blitz, I am aware of the commonality of them, not to give away my profession here, but there are occasions where people that invest in them as a tool to protest their anger make mistakes and they are caught.
Repub,I won’t ask your profession, and I stand corrected.I assumed you didn’t have any experience in the computer field.I know that people make mistakes, but in my field,it’s not anger that drives us,only answers.Nice to talk to you!
I would base this situation in the “anger” category because it only happened after one person said something that many of them are really thinking. When people get emotional they make mistakes. They keep hammering and hammering. You can narrow things down from there, the patterns and so on.
On the other hand, I would also assume that the folks that invested themselves in this occasion have probably been party to other occasions and are aware of what they are doing.
Personally I blame the providers because in this day and age there is no excuse for not actively monitering client side traffic flows and either capping or destroying the flowcache when things seem “abnormal”.

Isn’t that kind of the DEFINITION of this site?
