protein wisdom and his addiction to “The Sopranos,” cont.

Dave from The Waterglass was kind enough to lend me his season 3 DVDs, which I devoured over the weekend, watching 10 of the 13 episodes.  I would have finished them, but I need to pace myself until I can pick up the next set.

Anybody willing to lend me Season 4 on DVD?

Short of that, I’m willing to sell my seasons 1 and/or 2 DVDs in order to feed my habit.  Both sets purchased new and viewed once, mint condition, $55 ea. (shipping included).  Email me or drop a note in the comments.

    Jeff,

Anything HBO puts out lately is good. For those who followed the Sopranos from the beginning, it has been a little frustrating. They have taken over a year between seasons at least twice. (I think) It’s just hard to follow at that pace. Still a great show though.

Check out Six Feet Under. I bet you would like it even better.

I’ll gladly send u mine, if I can get them back from my ex.

I’m currently addicted to Deadwood.  As a bonus, my current girlfriend speaks some Cantonese, so I get to know what Wu is saying.

I would love to know what Wu is saying. All I can make out is “San Francisco cocksucker”

We were lucky: the year we decided to watch all the Sopranos episodes, they were replayed on HBO on Sunday nights, consecutively. We got up to speed that year and it was lovely. Now we’re just waiting for the final (bonus) season.

Join NetFlix; I watched the entire Soprano series this way.

I was an early member of Netflix.  But I found that by the time the movies in my queu arrived, I was in the mood to watch something else.

But does the San Fransico Cocksucker have “juice”? That is the relevant question. Deadwood is my greatest addiction, but I have to watch it with the closed captioning on. I am ashamed, but I know what the hell they are saying.

I’m considering buying the 4th season. This is a good excuse, but it will be a few weeks.

  9. Matt Moore says:

Oh, do you have HBO on Comcast? Because if you hurry, they currently have all of season five on VOD.

  10. Jeff Goldstein says:

    Matt —

I sold season 2 in order to buy season 4, which I will do later tonight.  I’ll be done with it in a few weeks, so why not buy it off of me so that I can buy season 5?

  11. Jeff Goldstein says:

No HBO.  I’m on satellite, but I don’t get any of the premium channels.

  12. Matt Moore says:

    55 bucks? Deal.

Dude, I’m going through serious withdrawal.

You need to get a subscription to netflix.

I watched seasons 1 and 2 in the first couple of weeks after I got layed off.  I quickly watched the next couple of seasons.  The series does fall off in quality and pace, but it was still great.  I then started renting Sex in the City episodes.  A little too much “girl talk” for my taste, but the nudity was nice.

After that I started renting Arrested Development

Well, the San Francisco cocksucker turned down the 50 in gold, so apparently he does have some juice.  Can’t wait to see if Swearengen’s apparent plan to ambush him by having his guys dress as Chinese whores works out, and also whether Wu can provide the Chinese labor that the Hearst interest will demand.

The really fascinating thing about Deadwood is how historically accurate it is, from the speech patterns down to the fact there really was a Deadwood with a Gem Saloon, run by the real Al Swearengen, no less!  The Bella Union was also real.  You can Google it and find them.
