For those of you who like your Oscars™ commercial-free and condensed into a witty 2-minute read, I recommend Kate’s coverage (she live-blogged it) from north of the border.
For my part, I’m going to go revisit a few of my Sidney Lumet DVDs. Man, what a career that guy has had.
Wow. Until tonight, I was frankly unaware that the man responsible for Dog Day Afternoon also directed The Wiz. For what it’s worth.
I admit to never having seen The Wiz, though I have it on DVD. I’ll watch it this week.
Dog Day Afternoon is fantastic, and for my money Pacino’s best performance. And if you haven’t seen it, watch Q&A for a fantastic Nick Nolte villain.
I’ve never seen Q&A, but if you’re going to reccomend it, I’ll have to check it out.
By the way, did anyone else find Vin Diesel’s hair in the new Lumet project as funny as I did?
It was pretty amazing seeing the span and variety of his career. Now it seems makking Vin Diesel a dramtic lead could be a capstone. lol But to be fair to Diesel, he was actually decent in BoilerRoom before he started with the blow up and break shit theme.
Not that I mind that so much, either. All the young gals seem to like him – from a teen here, to young 20-ish types at the office.
BTW How much to place an ad next to the latest “Dusty” girl – and can introductions be arranged for double?? ; )
Let me second the Q&A recommendation. Personally I’d say it’s in the running for Nolte’s best work. Assante is excellent in it too. Hell, I even thought Timothy Hutton was good in it.
