Redundancy [updated x14 (now with extra FRIDAY VILE!)]

Posing as a reporter from a San Francisco newspaper, Deb Frisch — probably by going through the entirety of the Baltimore phone book, cold calling everyone with my last name [update: looks like she paid for the info]– located my mother this evening, and threatened her and the rest of my family over the phone. She mentioned me and my son by name, and spewed a stream of profanities that had my mother very upset. She’s also posted my mother’s phone number and address on the web, along with that of my brother and sister. I’ve contacted Blogspot and requested that they remove the offending post(s).

I’m tired of dicking around waiting for Eugene, OR to do anything about this vile and deranged sack of uglycrazy, so in the meantime, if you have any personal information on her you’d care to share with me, please email. For instance, I know that she lives at 86474 N Modesto DR in Eugene, but I don’t have a phone number for her. I’d very much like to contact her parents and her sister so that they can intervene and get her the help she so clearly needs.

My mother, who is in her 70s and in bad health, will be contacting the Lane County DA tomorrow and filing yet another complaint against Frisch. But as we all realize four + years into this — with countless complaints and arrests in the interim — the likelihood that the law or courts in Oregon will stop her from harassing and threatening anyone other than them is vanishingly small. Otherwise she’d be locked away by now.

It’s time to take other measures, I guess. Like, perhaps, convincing her family to have her evaluated before she hurts herself or someone else. I won’t have my family threatened again.

****
Here are Frisch’s family members. More to follow:

* Allen D. Frisch (age 69)
* Andrew M Frisch
* Lisa Beth Frisch (Age 43)
* Susan C Frisch (Age 67)

****
more: on recent court documents, Frisch listed her cell number as 541-520-2929.

update: cell phone disconnected.

****
update 2: Police report in Baltimore being filed. Telephonic harassment.

****
update 3: Waste of time. Keep in mind I have a permanent restraining order against her — she made veiled threats against my son back when he was just 2-years old — and that she’s been convicted of stalking and harassment at least twice since then. Plus, she’s on probation for assault and stalking.

But none of that matters when the trade off is having to file some paper work, right officer?

****
update 4: Frisch is in one of her manic phases, putting up posts, taking them down, putting up new posts, etc.

For my part, I’ve put her entire family on speed-dial.

The court ordered her off the booze. She was also directed not to post about me or my family. Clearly, she’s not taking those mandates seriously. She hasn’t had a job in 4 years. Her family should stop enabling her (somebody continues to pay her bills) — particularly when the fallout is the misery of others who don’t deserve to be coated in their daughter’s/sibling’s filth. So long as she’s inviting people to call or visit my family, I’m determined to return the favor. After all, maybe they can help her if they know she’s acting out yet again — especially with a court date for numerous probation violations just a couple weeks away.

****
update 5: Frisch is claiming she was contacted by the Baltimore police, and gives a phony incident report number to support the story. Fact is, the officer never took down any info from my mother, so there is no way Frisch was contacted. Yet. My mother is on her way down to the court house in Baltimore County to follow up — this time armed with a knowledge of the appropriate statutes.

Also, Frisch continues to post and repost my father’s obituary notice from a few months back in order to give out the names of my entire family.

So long as she continues, I will continue reminding her that she, too, has a family — and that, like mine, they presumably never asked to be dragged into her craziness.

The rest is up to her, Google (who owns Blogspot, and who hasn’t responded to my email noting that Frisch is prohibited by a permanent order of protection from posting about me or my family), and the (demonstrably impotent) courts in Oregon.

update 6: The latest from Frisch:

dumbest kyke on sybil road

it’s already 11:15 a.m. in baltimore and i still haven’t called to speak to the sergeant who supervises Officer Stallings to commend him for his A+++++ performance in Case 10-860012 regarding a blatantly false allegation of telephonic harassment by a kyke named Doris Goldstein at 3904 Sybil Road.

MORE COFFEE!!!

“Officer Stallings” is a fabrication. The Jew hate?

Well, let’s just say her parents, Allen and Susan Frisch, have no comment — and in fact refuse to answer the phone entirely.

****
update 7: Here is the text, slightly redacted, of some of the emails Allen and Susan Frisch’s daughter has sent out over the course of the last 12 hours or so:

****
update 8: Yet more fabrication. Frisch seems to think she’s cleverly baited my mother into filing a harassment report, which Frisch will then claim caused her damages.

To which I say: remember, Debbie. There’s no vodka in prison…

****
update 9: More:

helen [xxxx] and jeffrey todd goldstein of denver, colorado, parents of satchel goldstein, beloved grandson of doris dumbfuck goldstein of sybril drive in baltimore county have a $1 million civil suit pending in El Paso, Texas alleging that I caused the inbred cunts from denver damages.

the attempted extortion in El Paso is one of a half dozen fraudulent and/or frivolous suits filed on behalf of Helen Fuckwad Cunt [xxxx] and Jeffrey Fecal Matter Todd Goldstern by Paul F. Lewis of the Sherman and Howard home for down syndrome patients approved by Judge Tim Thimmons (faggy fuckwad above) who is also headmistress the El Paso County Man-Boy Love Association and a soprano with the Colorado Springs Gay Men’s Barbershop Queertet.

Yesterday, Mr. Goldstein and Ms. [xxxxx] of Denver, CO coerced the owner of the snatch that hatched jeffrey todd, jodi and whatshisname (Doris Goldstein of Randallstown, MD) to engage in criminal behavior against me and against the state (it hurts the state to make false 911 calls).

Doris Goldstein, at 70 years of age faces legal action due to her decision to be a pimp from the wretch she hatched from her snatch x years ago.

Doris Goldstein is the dumbest kyke on sybil drive, that’s for sure!!!!

FWIW: She is being funded by 2 sources, her family and a fraudulent rental scam of a cabin she does not own nor has the right to rent out.
By funding her, the family has opened themselves up to her style of harassment. I am not going to engage in that activity, nor do I suggest anyone else does. I’m just saying that if they enable her constant harassment, a little goose/gander justice should not come as a major surprise.
Mr. Helen Hunt, spawn of Allen Harvey and Dumbfuck Doris Goldstein, sibling of Jodi, a cunt in New Jersey.

Her parents own the property in Eugene and allow her to live rent free. They are aware of Frisch’s behavior, and have even spoken on her behalf in court.
I have tried about everything I can think of legally. Lawyers are frightened of Frisch. The courts and authorities in Eugene won’t put a stop to her.
I don’t think it unfair that her parents or siblings be contacted and asked why they continue to enable her behavior — that is, why they believe the pain she causes countless others is somehow less important than their resolve to keep her free and engaging in said behavior, to the point where they actively finance it.
She hasn’t had a job since she was forced to resign from Arizona. Yet she still has DSL internet, her own home, and money for her vodka benders?
In addition to failing to lock Frisch up for harassment, stalking, lewd conduct, etc., the Oregon police have similarly done nothing about a scam Frisch has been running through Craigslist. She puts out an ad inviting people to rent a cabin on her property, collects their money, then runs them out with teh crazy. After that, she posts vile things about them, and oftentimes includes pictures.

Her entire life is dedicated to bringing misery to others. And both the state of Oregon and Frisch’s family seem unwilling to do anything to correct the problem.
Somebody has to. May as well be me.

Tell me: can you purchase arugula with those things these days, or is it still just ramen and Velveeta shells?

****
update 11: Having previously removed the post where she provides a transcript of herself harassing my mother at home, Frisch — evidently too proud of how she behaved not to brag about it — reposts it here.

I can’t sleep now. I had to take my son to school, and I have to pick
him up this afternoon. In between I have to try Google again, then
contact the Baltimore police and the Lane County DA. I have to collect
screen shots. I have to print shit out. I have a few minutes after my
son’s school lets out and I get home from picking him up to help him
with his homework. After that, I have to get him dinner and get him to
wrestling practice by 5:30 – 7. From there, I have to make myself some
dinner and get the kid showered and ready for bed. Then I have to get
his lunch ready for tom morrow, put him to
bed, get the dogs taken care of, etc. By that time it’s close to 10
o’clock, and I’ll be wired.
I don’t expect I’ll sleep much this evening, either.

Welcome to my world!

update 14: Blogspot finally got back to me and requested a copy of the court order, which I’ve sent them. I also put them in touch with the attorney who handled the original case for me.

But clearly Blogspot is in no hurry. So in the meantime, manic Frisch posted more info about my family over night, beginning with my father, who as most of you know recently passed unexpectedly:

dead kykes cemetery and barbecue pit

The Beth Shalom Hebrew Young Men’s Cemetery is located at 5830 Windsor Mill Road in Woodlawn. It was originally founded as the Hebrew Young Men’s Sick Relief Association of Baltimore in 1888, whose main purpose was to assist those of our Jewish brethren from Russia and Lithuania settling in Baltimore. During its early years, the Association aiding the sick by providing physician services and weekly sick benefit payments. In 1893, they continued their work by purchasing land for a cemetery and then again, in 1936, land for a “new” cemetery, formed as a Jewish Orthodox cemetery, was purchased on Windsor Mill Road in Woodlawn, Maryland.

She then moves on to my sister — and threatens to defecate on my father’s grave:

jodi “she-spawn of allen harvey and doris dumbfuck” goldstein (hatched 5.9.70)

GOLDSTEIN , Allen Harvey On June 25, 2010, Allen Harvey Goldstein , survived by Doris Goldstein (nee Bach); dear father of Jeffrey Goldstein and Helen Hart of Denver, CO, Steven Goldstein of Randallstown MD, and Jodi Goldstein of NJ; loving brother of the late Howard
Goldstein; beloved grandfather of Satchel Goldstein Hart.
Funeral services and interment will be held at Hebrew Young Mens Cemetery – 5800 Windsor Mill Road, on Sunday, June 27, at 11 AM. Please omit flowers. In mourning at 3904 Sybil Road, Randallstown, MD 21133 Arrangements by SOL LEVINSON & BROS., INC.
sollevinson.com

I am going to contact sol levinson tomorrow on behalf of the son and widow of the wretch whose remains he dealt with on June 27, 2010. Hebrew Young Mens Cemetery at 5800 Windsor Mill Road. Maybe I’ll take a road trip with Jeb and shit on the grave of the shmuck who sired the loathsome wretch who’s been menacing me for four years.

I’ll call shlomo, oops, i mean sol levinson tomorrow.

stay tuned!!!!

She claims, too, to have found someone to represent her in a case against me for harassing her:

2038664189

the gentleman at the number above has kindly agreed to waive any financial fee in exchange to mediate an end to the grievances between doris, helen, satchel, jeff, jodi goldstein and kirk hays and lance crosby and alex gardner and alex kozinski and jeff matthews and david saydack and did i mention alex gardner?!?!?!?!?!?!

She then accuses me of “slandering” her for a comment left on my site by someone decidedly not me:

slop slandering me, jeffie-boy g!!

She stalks children and public officials in the Eugene area- high school kids are a big favorite and she’s even been to football games trying to find kids named in the local newspaper.

I find it disappointing that the Eugene community hasn’t done a better job dealing with this creature. Where I grew up, the crazy perv at the football game would be found beaten half to death under the bleachers the next morning, and nobody ever knew how it happened. Local cops usually wrote it up as “fell off bleachers while drunk” and let it go at that.

Lazy, corrupt cops? Maybe, but at least they were on the side of the angels back then. And the crazy perv stayed away from the school.

So. Just a reminder:

858-350-1232 Allen and Susan Frisch, 319 Punta Baja, Del Mar, CA (Mom and Dad. Must be so proud!)
650-508-0829 Andrew Frisch 552 Alameda De Las Pulgas, San Carlos, CA (brother)
858-610-2952 Lisa Beth Frisch San Diego, CA (sister) Husband is Michael Mee. 4279 Corte Favor, San Diego, CA

The goal is to convince family members to have Frisch civilly committed. Before she harms anyone. Or anyone finally decides they’ve had enough and puts her down with a shovel.

  10. Jeff:

As one who happened to be commenting at PW at the same time as then nutcase’s original remarks and threats, seeing them in real time, I cannot believe you are still having to deal with this insane woman.

I don’t have legal advice, but I was being harrassed by phone back in 2001 and filed a complaint with the phone company and they were able to ascertain that the person driving me crazy was using her employer’s phone and from there we got a name. A threat of being fired was enough to shut my phone stalker down, but as I recall, there were federal charges available since the calls were made from one state to another. I never had to take it that far, although I don’t know exactly what the phone company did. Have you checked as to whether there are federal avenues you could pursue, rather than staying with various county/city ordinances? I’m assuming your Mom has a hardwired phone rather than the call being cell to cell or VOIP. My calls were made to my hardwired phone and the phone company took them very seriously as I, too, was receiving death threats.

Jeff, undoubtedly you’ve been down this road, but threats open the door for restraining orders. Which can agitate and escalate the problem party, of course, but perhaps it’s a start and can show ample concern in the future, should this spiral even more out of control.

I don’t know how to find this information so I’d just get a referral from some lawyer and hire someone. They probably cost a bit more than we’d guess — everything does — but they also probably know which databases to check without any of our clumsy guesswork and they probably also know a few things we’d never think of looking into in the first place.

Jeff, if you’ll do this I’ll toss in the first $20.

Barring that, there have to be some lurkers here with some relevant backgrounds. Step forward and give Jeff a hand here.

I know you have gone through this before and I pray for you and your family. I can’t imagine that I can help you, but just ask and I will do what I can.

I’d guess her family has pretty much written her off as less than useless and unsalvageable, or they would’ve tried to intervene and get her some help long ago. She’s just a little rat gnawing on anything that’s in range of her sharp teeth. She has no friends, no relatives who care, and no prospects for the future.

Just think: of that poor kid jumping off the gw bridge, when it should’ve been her.

    JeffG

Seriously, if the dialogue is as the totalbatshitbitch posts it, the DA should be able to tack some obscenity charges onto everything else.

Isn’t this crazybaglady on probation? Get your mom’s local DDA to call the court who has jurisdiction over *F* and get her probation revoked yesterday.

Your mom needs to call the police and make a report – be sure to get the report number. Most DA offices won’t accept a call without knowing you’ve been to the police first.

Also, get in touch with whoever the original detective was. Get a copy of the newest PD report and fax it to him.

This may be one of the fastest routes to getting her behind bars … whether county or Behavioral Health, she is a threat and needs to be locked up.

  47. bh says:

Darleen would know and that sounds smart to me.

  48. Jeff G. says:

She’s on probation. She violates it daily. She has her next hearing on Oct 25. Before and after the preliminary hearing on Oct 5 she went after the judges and prosecutors. She has been banned from emailing the courts.

She’s been repeatedly violating her probation and her restraining orders and her court ordered mandates for years.

    Doesn’t matter. Not in Oregon.

well, whoever the local pd is for your mom.

F is dangerous. She needs to be locked up yesterday and an obscene phone call to your mom and a public blog full of death and threats has got to be documented and put in the right hands. Fast way I can think of is PD to PD.

  60. Ric Locke says:

#53 your mother has every reason to call Baltimore PD, and if she’s the least infirm you have every reason to do it on her behalf.

  62. Jeff G. says:

    It’s all been tried, Darleen.

  63. qdpsteve says:

Going to the actual hearing, so that the (hopefully not completely braindead/apathetic) probation board can hear for themselves exactly what’s going on– is an excellent idea IMHO. I know you probably don’t need my advice, but just in case you hadn’t thought of it yet, be sure to also let the board know how much hardship you’ve incurred just by showing up, on top of the emotional turmoil you’ve been dragged through.

Also Jeff– I’m a Patterico fan and I know you’ve had your differences with him in the past, but I can’t believe he wouldn’t want to help you with having to deal with this godawful situation again. He *is* a friggin’ DDA in LA County after all.

Would you mind if I post an appeal at his site for some help in this matter?

  64. happyfeet says:

I think going to Oregon is a great idea.

This has been a very stupid dark day just from the get go this morning.

  65. Jeff G. says:

The lawyers I used last time were quite good and did what they could.

The problem is that no one in Lane County is willing to do anything about this woman. She’s been banned from schools, universities, court rooms, etc. And yet she is allowed to continue a pattern of harassment that has been thoroughly documented.

In fact, she’s proven that such harassment is perfectly acceptable in the eyes of the courts and the law (unless it’s directed at them, in which case they rule quickly and forcefully to prevent their having to put up with it).

That’s all good to know. See, eg., the phone numbers listed in the update.

  66. TmjUtah says:

    Second Ric, re Darleen’s assessment.

Call now. Baltimore PD. Right now.

I’ll dig into running money, and happily contribute toward your travel to make the hearing. Please call BPD.

  67. Darleen says:

    JeffG

I have to be a nag, but you can’t let one scrap of paper, one document slip by.

You know I’ve worked in government long enough to have it pounded into me “document, document, document”. I want to scream everytime I have to write up something new YET again for the same old problem that someone before me didn’t want to deal with …

I’m tired of being on garbage cleanup detail… HOWEVER …

But as far as the court is concerned, if there ain’t a report it didn’t happen.

Please please…really, I’m begging. This harassment of your mom has to be documented.

  68. Jeff G. says:

    It’s documented.

  69. Ric Locke says:

The point of calling Baltimore PD is that that was an interstate phone call, which means it’s very likely a Federal crime — and the Supervisors of Lane County, Oregon have about as much jurisdiction over Federal crimes as I do.

But you can’t get it bumped up to the Feds unless you have a police report, and the only police with jurisdiction are the ones in your mother’s city; I guess I just assumed it was Baltimore, but if it’s a suburb so much the better — their PDs are smaller and more focused on bourgeois matters than BPD.

    Do. It.

    Regards,
    Ric

  70. Dan Collins says:

Those are going to be some pretty confused Dans Collins.

  71. Jeff G. says:

I’ve been through this in the courts, Ric.

All that stuff you mention is true. Doesn’t matter, and it hasn’t mattered. This is something she does all the time. She got a visit from the feds for threatening federal judges.

And yet, still she is free to live drunk and crazy on an allowance from her family.

  72. happyfeet says:

Dan! Hi there… now you’re just tempting fate you know that yes

  73. Jeff’s mom lives in Baltimore county, not Baltimore city. I used to work for the Member of Congress in MD-2, but that was in the late ’80s and early ’90s and all the names have changed since then. I’m in Calif. and with the time difference, it is too late to call my former boss tonight, but if it would help, I’d try tomorrow and get you a few names of people that could help your mom deal with this.

  74. Jeff G. says:

    Please do, Sara. Thanks.

She’s going to jail. This is her last frenzied attempt to get the world to notice her.

And I hope Deb winds up in prison. She might be mentally ill (OK, she IS), but she knows this is wrong.

Told you: law enforcement doesn’t care. Now there’s no report of the incident.

And so there’s nothing to show to Lane County, to evince a pattern of multi-state and multi-person harassment.

    On it goes.

Like I said, I’ve been here. You people have an idea of law enforcement that simply doesn’t match up with reality.

  99. Jeff G. says:

It’s nearly 1 am in Baltimore. My mother is old. And I’m here in Colorado.

She tried. And law enforcement did what they always do: they ignored the problem. Like I keep telling you people, I spent nearly a year of my life dealing with this nutjob in the courts.

And she’s still out, still harassing anyone she wants to harass.

Looks like all of that pandhandling led to nothing good.

I’m guessing this is the only thing Frisch has left to keep her going. If it weren’t for the periodic opportunity to piss people off, her life would be nothing but empty bottles of Night Train and black-market oxycontin. Her academic career is a shambles, never to be resurrected, and no one in their right mind would hire her. Any value she may have ever had as in the private sector is similarly forever nullified. She is nothing to anyone anymore, and it’s only this kind of crap that has her being someone, even if that someone is repugnance personified.

That aside, I’m not sure I’d have posted her family’s info…I’d guess they’re just as aghast at her behavior as the rest of us are, and have just as much control over it. Not telling you what to do, Jeff, but I don’t think that reciprocation against her family is any kind of resolution. I don’t think you asked for that, but there are undoubtedly people who would be glad to freelance lending a hand in that way.

I wish there were something I could do, here, but I don’t see anything. This, right here, is why I don’t post under my real name. It’s not the sane people who disagree with me that I’m avoiding.

  130. alppuccino says:

Sorry, Slart. If she’s going to post my family’s info — and I can’t get the authorities to help out — I’m going to make it painful for her, too. You can be quite sure my mother didn’t ask to be bombarded with vile and lewd accusations about her son and grandson.

  134. Thing is, I’ll bet she’s not quite so solicitous of her family’s quiet as you are of yours. But I hope it’ll get someone’s attention, who can dial down her stack overflow.

  135. Jeff G. says:

Or at least give her some legal advice.

  136. Sinner says:

FWIW: She is being funded by 2 sources, her family and a fraudulent rental scam of a cabin she does not own nor has the right to rent out.

By funding her, the family has opened themselves up to her style of harassment. I am not going to engage in that activity, nor do I suggest anyone else does. I’m just saying that if they enable her constant harassment, a little goose/gander justice should not come as a major surprise.

    Bad policy, guys.

  139. Squid says:

Hey, here’s a thought: if law enforcement and public health refuse to do anything about the rabid bitch, maybe we should escalate things. That’s right: animal control!

  145. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – I’m not sure anyone would want to be around her when she was holding a sharp object. Seeing that little girl in the photo just sends a chill.

  146. Benedick says:

Jeff, let me offer some informal legal advice. (I’m an experienced civil litigator.) The criminal justice system isn’t doing you any favors. File a civil lawsuit against her in Oregon. I’m not an expert in Oregon tort law, but most states’ common law provides for claims of, among other things, intentional and/or negligent infliction of emotional distress, and intrusion. As a bonus, because you and she reside in different states, you could probably file in federal court, rather than in state court. There are a number of possible benefits to this. For one thing, the relief available to you would include monetary damages and injunctive relief. If she violated a federal injunction she would be held in contempt of court by a federal judge, which can lead to a prison sentence even if the injunction issues from a civil judgment. Monetary damages would make a nice recovery in their own right, and would provide a disincentive for her family to put any money in her name. And you could probably get a default judgment relatively simply because she seems unlikely to hire her own counsel or — even if she does — to shelve her idiocy sufficiently to permit that counsel to mount any sort of defense. I imagine you could find a plaintiff’s attorney to handle this for you on a contingency basis, meaning no financial risk to you. If you are interested in exploring this, I’d be happy to consult a bit and help you find counsel in Oregon. If I lived and practiced there, I’d do this for you pro bono, but, alas, I do not.

  147. A Nonny Moose says:

133: well, Oregon seems to not care what happens since they keep letting her roam free. Her parole violation hearing is in a few days, but I have a feeling all she’ll get is a slap on the wrist, which she’ll ignore.

  151. Benedick says:

151 – It’s really tough to get a judgment against the parents of the bad actor if the bad actor is an adult. In this case, though, I’d certainly name them as defendants.

  152. 142. Comment by Squid on 10/13 @ 8:50 am

I had that same thought last night: If the authorities in Oregon won’t lock her up for the safety of the public, perhaps they might consider doing so for her own safety.

Because I could almost guarantee that she is not going to pass away quietly in her sleep, if this keeps up. We all may be hundreds or thousands of miles away from her, but she’s been very active, apparently, toward people right there in Eugene.

I’m pretty sure they’re not all hypercivilized sorts like you and me.

  153. Benedick says:

Jeff, I’ll shoot you an email with some contact info if you want to hash this out more one-on-one like.

  154. Alec Leamas says:

File a civil lawsuit against her in Oregon.

I think the harm/effects of the torts have been directed to Colorado, therefore the Courts of Colorado should have specific personal jurisdiction over the Defendant and would be a proper forum to bring a civil suit. Having said this, she appears to be ‘judgment proof’ as we say, however a judgment for intentional or reckless tortious behavior is generally non-dischargeable in bankruptcy and would follow her for the remainder of her life until paid. If a significant figure, she may well never be able to borrow money to buy anything ever again.

  155. JHo says:

the (demonstrably impotent) courts in Oregon.

At their worst, civil family courts — who manage TRO issuances, AFAIK — churn out scores and scores of nice profitable cases where the victim litigant, in this case you, Jeff, funds the whole shebang via lawyer fees. The distinction between bench and bar in this parade is negligible and they frequently trade places.

There’s little incentive to prosecute violations, all the more so against, dare I say it, women. (SEXIST!) What interests them is the nice contract they have with the DDA and/or federal Title IV-D policies for “child support” collections and redistribution of which they get a tidy chunk.

As I alluded earlier, you’re the wrong sex. You also represent something other than, in this case, those many thousands of satisfied, revenue-producing child support customers the Lane Country DA boasts about on his site.

The end result is precisely what you’ve seen.

  156. Alec Leamas says:

Edit to add that in practice I’ve seen a judgment in the neighborhood of 750K including punitives for similar or less threatening messages (though they were sent anonymously).

The worst (threatening to harm/kill Jeff’s son) may be time-barred at this point, but you should speak with a Colorado/Oregon/Arizona attorney to figure that out.

  157. sdferr says:

Frisch seems to have created a nascent community of a large (and growing) number of targets of her various verbal assaults, just judging from the few posts I’ve seen at her blogsite. Have these interested parties begun to join together as a community of interest in fact? Might there be a useful strength in numbers there to stand before a court (in name) together?

  158. Benedick says:

Alec – agreed you could probably get jurisdiction in Colorado. Execution and enforcement become a lot easier if you file in defendant’s home state. Federal court in Colorado might be a good option, but you have to give some thought to choice of law before you pull the trigger.

  159. Alec Leamas says:

Also, she seems dumb/crazy/drunk enough to pull the same shit with a Judge assigned to a Civil case, at which point she would get the considered attention of Law Enforcement if not the U.S. Marshals Service (if in Federal Court).

  160. Jeff G. says:

She has done the same thing with judges. They bar her from contacting them or the courts — while doing nothing to stop her from contacting we little people.

  161. Alec Leamas says:

Alec – agreed you could probably get jurisdiction in Colorado. Execution and enforcement become a lot easier if you file in defendant’s home state. Federal court in Colorado might be a good option, but you have to give some thought to choice of law before you pull the trigger.

My google-fu says that Oregon has adopted a version of the Uniform Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Act which would probably require only an exemplified copy of the Judgment and some minor papers to transfer. Oregon would be required to enforce a Colorado Judgment, and the only grounds to strike would be lack or/improper service or another fatal defect on the face of the Colorado record – the Oregon Courts would not be permitted to look to the substance of the Colorado matter. (we’re getting ahead of ourselves, but) From time to time I move judgments between PA-NY-NJ for fun and profit.

I think your point about choice of law is spot-on.

  165. Benedick says:

How is it harassment to call her parents in order to inform them that their daughter is on a dangerous bender, and is threatening people again? After all, they act as her financial guardians. And there is nothing random about the calls: I’m giving people the facts and showing them precisely what is happening. These are interested parties.

Oh. And I’ve been to court. I have protection orders. She’s been arrested multiple times.

I don’t much care at this point what the court thinks. As I said, she’s scared off lawyers, who won’t even bother trying to prosecute her anymore.

If her parents or siblings are alerted to her behavior, perhaps they’ll do what the Eugene authorities won’t and get her some help. The appearance of tit for tat doesn’t bother me — and won’t, until such time as I begin sending random filthy emails about her sexual proclivities with minors, etc., to scores of people, or until such time as I begin a campaign of libel and harassment.

  218. Carin says:

    Manic/depressive perhaps?

  219. alppuccino says:

They’ve probably received their fare share of being victimized by her crazy.

This is how you perpetuate the cold fact that you are a complete idiot meya. You talk of these parents like they’re, you know, parents, as opposed to people who are completely out of control. You spoon a little “let’s have compassion” for these people in your utterly stupid comment.

Probably had their fair share? When you get your fair share, don’t you say, “OK, that’s enough.”?

Victimized? If you aren’t the stupidest monkey next to Obama, then none exists. When parents are victimized by their children, they are no longer parents, they’re quitters.

This world view, like the one you hold about money, is obviously explained by your victimization of your own former parents.

There can be no evidence to the contrary.

  220. littlebird says:

Incidentally, Andrew Frisch’s wife’s name appears to be Virginia

  221. alppuccino says:

Oh wait meya, you said “fare share”. So……

  222. Carin says:

    Echoing Alp:

“Her parents must be so proud.”

They’ve probably received their fare share of being victimized by her crazy.

Yea, well, they gave her life. They’re responsible. Especially if they support her in a manner that allows her to harass others.

  223. Entropy says:

Point of fact though: I’m not on a high horse. Not at all.

I’m just trying to play 3-dimensional chess… it’s a tactical blunder I see you performing so I mention it for your consideration. Do as you will.

IF (IF!) I thought it would make her stop or help in any way if you egged her moms house, I’d buy you a carton of Grade A’s and some TP. I’m certainly not above that.

  224. Jeff G. says:

Perhaps if those emails and posts are printed out and sent via US mail to Mom and Dad and Brother and Sister, at least they’ll have to confront them…

Hiding behind answering machines is easy.

  225. Jeff G. says:

I’m just trying to play 3-dimensional chess… it’s a tactical blunder I see you performing so I mention it for your consideration. Do as you will.

You’re welcome to switch places with me.

Can I have the name and numbers for you, your family, any children you might have, etc?

  226. alppuccino says:

I’ve dealt with a manic harasser. Their family had had enough and seemed rather out of wits as to what to do.

OK meya. So your “friend” the manic harasser etc. etc. Oh brother.

“I’m at my wit’s end with our manic harasser offspring. Whatever shall we do?”

    “Well, rent’s due.”

    “Check’s on the kitchen counter.”

Your expertise leaves everything to be desired. This is America meya. Clean up your house. Have some fucking responsibility.

  227. Roddy Boyd says:

Look, I’ve no bloody idea what to do or how to go about it.
I do think someone should mail that stuff to her relatives–someone has to be giving her money or access to capital of some sort, she has a place to live, food/water, electricity–so they should know that she has lost control of her faculties. They have at least some moral liability in this equation.

Beyond that, there is Paypal. JG is going to need money. A lot of it. And then, some more.
If you are spiritually inclined, a prayer helps.

  228. Being unfamiliar with the long backstory (which ought to have stopped me from opening my trap, but when have I ever passed up a chance to sound high-minded?), I just dug through it.

The woman is not merely batshit. She’s a special kind of batshit that denotes a soul galvanically determined to devour itself. Everything she’s doing makes perfect sense to her. If you put her in makeup, she could pass for the Joker.

There’s an abyss inside of her, and it is hungry.

  229. Jeff G. says:

In lieu of money, someone with a legal credential please find a way to contact Google and have Frisch’s site nuked. She is violating a court order.

Trying to get in touch with a person there is impossible unless you have some standing as a lawyer. The lawyer who handled this for me before was successful in getting a number of her sites removed. But once she started posting about him and his firm in terms similar to those she uses here (accusations of pedophilia, etc.), that lawyer evidently decided it was best he not stay involved.

This has happened with other lawyers, as well. Just finding legal counsel has been difficult.

But then, I’m not much of a 3-D chess player, I guess.

  230. Entropy says:

And you’re welcome to ignore or disagree with my advice.

That’s all it was – unsolicited but honest advice from someone who’s (knowingly and obviously) emotional detatched from the situation and standing much further back.

That I have absolutely nothing at stake in this, I am well aware. Sometimes that can be helpful.

So leave it then, rather than take it. I’ve said all there is to say about this. I’d like to see this problem go away for you, if I had any control over the matter.

I may have failed at being helpful but that is all I was trying to be.

  231. Carin says:

    “Well, rent’s due.”

    “Check’s on the kitchen counter.”

    Or, more directly:

“Well, internet bill is due …”

“Tough titties … no internet for you”

  232. Sigivald says:

If she’s going to claim some civil suit in Texas (Texas? Why would she even invent that part?) it’d be more effective if she’d point to the case on the docket.

Last I checked pretty much every court in the country, especially one in a nice big place like El Paso, has a list of cases online.

Of course, to do that, there’d actually have to be a case – and I’m sure that if our host was suing her, he’d have told us about it first to make the point… and he’d be doing it either in Oregon, Colorado, or Maryland, as appropriate for standing.

El Paso? I realize she’s crazy, but I’m not seeing how even Crazy can think that anyone has standing to file suit in a Texas court for this…

(Also, I blame the Democrats in the late 70s for making involuntary commitment almost impossible all over the nation.)

  233. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

    Holy. Fucking. Shit.

It’s like Silence of the Armadillos.

How the hell does the FBI not have her incarcerated in Miggs old cell next door to Hannibal Lecter.

  234. Old Texas Turkey says:

Jeff – my advice is to follow up with Benedick and exhaust the Federal Courts. You have to keep plugging at the system until you hit the right button. Lawyers are the same as most other professions, most are lazy bums, you have to find the right person.

Try to stay at least 2 arms length reach apart from this lunatic. I would counsel against being in the same physical location as her. For the sake of your boy. I would be tempted to lay a haymaker on her, you may be a better man.

  235. Jeff G. says:

You might have sent your advice by email, Entropy.

  236. cranky-d says:

She’s making it up. She makes a lot of stuff up.

  237. JHo says:

Just finding legal counsel has been difficult.

Not to paint all attorneys with the same broad brush, but my experience has been if there’s no very clear path to tidy sums, or if there’s any personal risk, or certainly if a shred of both arise, you’re SOL. Of course I’m a conspiratorial nutter, so, you know.

Televisions lawyers are television lawyers. Such stalwart officers of the court indeed.

  238. JD says:

I apologize for my comment, JeffG. It was not intended in the way in which you took it.

Fuck off, meya. For you to comment about harassment on a site that you have been banned under a multitude of names is truly remarkable.

  239. Jeff G. says:

Her parents have changed their number.

    That’s okay. They’ll be a new one.

  240. littlebird says:

here are the judges in Lane County…one of them will be drawing
Debbie’s probation violation hearing…rumor is she’s going to jail…its just a question of HOW LONG…

    http://courts.oregon.gov/Lane/AboutUs/JudgesBios.page

  241. Entropy says:

That sounds like it would have been a better idea Jeff.

From the fact that you’ve never recieved any email from me of any sort (nor anyone else off a blog) you can figure it’s not my first impulse to even think of that option.

  242. Carin says:

Debbie’s probation violation hearing…rumor is she’s going to jail…its just a question of HOW LONG…

    Yea. Finally. Some hopeful news.

  243. moneymen says:

    “Well, rent’s due.”

I never figured out who paid the abuser’s rent in the case I’m talking about. He was stricken by AIDS dementia, mentally ill and well on the way to death, probably in prison. I suspect what he had done to the victim i knew was only the latest the family was hearing about.

But this deb lady seems to live rent free, and makes money from scamming people.

  244. Jeff G. says:

By the way. I don’t think her parents actually changed the number. I believe they made an answering machine recording saying that the number has been changed.

    For the record.

  245. Jeff G. says:

    Entropy and JD —

I’m just touchy. Been sick for two weeks, my wife keeps traveling for business, and I haven’t slept more than 3 hours total in the last 2 days.

I know you’re just trying to help. Just keep in mind who is reading this and why.

  246. largenfirm says:

Chances are, if you can’t get her on a Federal charge, you’ll have to drop back to a civil suit – she is, of course, penniless, so the only hope you have of getting a lawyer to take this is to include her parents as accessories – they own a million dollar house in California, as well as the Eugene property. She transferred title of the Eugene property to her father in 2009, to avoid having any assets that might be seized to satisfy a civil suit.

Since the parents are enabling her behavior by letting her live there, being named in a civil lawsuit might just give them sufficient incentive to defenestrate her.

At some point, it’ll be cheaper for them to get guardianship over her, and have her privately committed, than it will be to defend against such a lawsuit.

OTOH, she is up for a PV hearing on 10/25. Took months of working with the authorities to get that far, of course.

  247. Skorpion says:

Jeff: Sorry to hear that you’re still being harassed by this nutcase, after all this time.

Have any of Frisch’s victims ever reported her to the pranksters at 4chan.com? They LIVE to make trouble for Internet bullies and psychos (most recently, they dry-gulched that psychotic MI woman who was running a hate-campaign against a dying 7 YO girl.)

  248. Your daily dose of nucking futs…

Your daily dose of nucking futs…

  249. Jeff G. says:

Not worth it, Skorpion. They could just as easily decide they don’t much care for me.

By the way: I’ve watched, over the last 4 years, a number of very prominent figures (both in the blogosphere and in the legal field) turn tail and run from Frisch. They have adopted the position that if they ignore her, she will go away after a bit — and turn her attention to some other poor sod who will then get the brunt of her bile.

    Fine. That’s quite pragmatic.

But I noted back in ’06 that part of the reason I was pursuing legal action was to make sure Frisch was made to pay for the way she was treating people. I didn’t want others to go through what my family was going through.

I’ve been unsuccessful — the older you get, the more you realize that all the high ideals you were taught to hold about justice and law enforcement, etc., is mostly bunk — but that doesn’t mean I always will be.

And because it’s clear she won’t (and hasn’t) stopped in the 4 years since I first encountered her depravity, I’m not going to simply hide away and let others suffer without letting them know that at least I’m trying to stop this woman’s longstanding pattern of abuses.

I’ve lost respect for quite a number of people through this process — a few on the liberal side, but plenty of conservative types who preach law and order and responsibility, etc., when they don’t happen to have skin in the game, but who are content to remove themselves from harm’s way when it really matters most.

Me, I will see this through. I promised I would. And so I keep on.

  250. largenfirm says:

    4chan.org, not 4chan.com

  251. Rob Crawford says:

    4chan.org, not 4chan.com

Still not a good idea. That’s rather like asking the rats to help you with your mouse problem.

  252. Skorpion says:

@Rob: Yeah, I have no love for those people either. I was thinking along the lines of “Let’s you and him fight.”

@Jeff: I’m on your side. Will hit the tip jar, and see if I can come up with anything better.

  253. littlebird says:

Skorpion, I hear that the idea has been had…but it’s harder
to get 4chan on someone than you’d think (cf the “not your personal army” meme)

  254. Benedick says:

An unpredictable lot to be sure.

  255. Entropy says:

I could be wrong… but I think 4chan did take her down once already. I think they know her. She’s been around the blogosphere.

Would it be possible to contact the Lane County Oregon prosecutor, to see if you could make an appearance at her probation hearing?

  256. Jeff G. says:

She’s gone full-bore manic now. See update 10.

  257. littlebird says:

Entropy, that would’ve been great if 4chan got her. But last I checked, Debbie doesn’t even have an Encyclopedia Dramatica page devoted to her…hmm…

  258. littlebird says:

And she’s just made a veiled threat against the President…

    http://hecklingaloud.blogspot.com/2010/10/jeff-goldstein-threatens-to-murder.html

Anyone want to do the honours of calling the Secret Service?

  259. Carin says:

Yea. I’d say she’s a manic depressive. Alcohol use is often used to deal.

The little gerbil wheel in her head is on full spin right now.

  260. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

JHo @242: Not entirely fair but, yeah. You’re right. A lawyers first step in taking a case is determining if it’s “financially viable”. If they’re working contingent or pro bono, you can’t exactly blame them. Everybody’s got to pay the rent. Provide retainer and it’s different…Maybe. Depending on how dedicated the lawyer is to your case against whatever else he/she has in the works or on the docket.

Which leads to largenfirm@251: That seems the best scenario to get an attorney to take your case. Given particulars, I think you’re still looking at at least a $5k retainer with no guaranteed outcome.

Given her record and previous orders, the court should order her remitted to intensive psych evaluation immediately. Ideally, in the psych ward from 12 Monkeys.

    But they wont do either.

Here’s praying that probation hearing Judge is in a bad mood that day.

  261. Carin says:

ideally, in the psych ward from 12 Monkeys.

I’m thinking “One Flew Over the Coocoo’s nest” may be more appropriate.

  262. How odd that she doesn’t try to construe my comments about motorcycle “clubs” or my “lock her up for her own safety” comments as veiled threats.

    I feel left out.

  263. Rob Crawford says:

I’m thinking “One Flew Over the Coocoo’s nest” may be more appropriate.

Meh. Too soft. Bedlam, mid 1800’s.

  266. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

Well…I see Pablo got a mention in update #10

    Exhibit A.

    She likes you Pablo.

    Watch yer back dude.

Jesus. It’s like the “cat lady” from The Simpsons has internet access.

    And Turrets Syndrome.

  267. Benedick says:

With any luck she’ll try the murder-suicide thing in the wrong order.

  268. Jeff G. says:

Perhaps a full-page ad pleading with her parents and siblings to get her help? In the local California paper?

    Or a billboard?

Probably a lot cheaper (and more reliable) than the law has been.

  269. Sinner says:

@JG Update 10: Tell me: can you purchase arugula with those things these days, or is it still just ramen and Velveeta shells?

What it doesn’t buy is Curry Tofo from China Blue, a favorite of her’s in YouJean… They serve alcohol there so she isn’t allowed in, that and the management has banned her…

    LOL

  270. JHo says:

I once retained a custody lawyer once with $1250. He dropped a motion off at the court, ten minutes away. And quit, keeping the money. Told me to piss off. A complaint to the bar assoc, of course, produced exactly zilch.

Of my bad ones, that was the good one. You don’t want to know what the other one did. Of course, he was also untouchable, owing to the nifty little legal principle known as standard of practice — if they’re all bad, and by bad I mean incompetent and/or crooked in your burg, then you can’t cull just one out and sue him. Cool. Even when their actions directly aid and abet “contempt, obstruction, and likely grounds for action” as a later court eventually ruled, after the damage was done. And by damage, I mean to a minor. Mine.

Apparently this is the status quo, Lamont, and I say this because mine were two of a hundred like it and worse that I heard when I was active in the natural community pushback.

The really good one — the fourth — realized the case was utterly sound, actually appeared in court, argued and won a testy exchange with the meatgrinder known as the court’s more moderate judge. That court was under incessant community criticism for, basically, incompetence and bad faith. Made national news twice.

As with all trades, the legal community should be held to standards; as officers of the court, they should be prosecuted for malpractice twice as fast instead of writing laws and never being prosecuted at all.

To me, to be hired they must be presumed crap until proven barely competent; their just comeuppance for wrecking the liberties and rights of so many innocent citizens in the State’s only legal forum. Jeff’s travails only serve to confirm the hunch.

  275. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

That’s the same deal I have with the current US Administration side and European global warming/climate change/climate disruption community in general.

You win. Humans are bad. I believe you. So…you save us ALL by killing yourselves first, and I PROMISE…Super swear (pinky too, no crossed fingers) I’ll kill myself right after.

  276. Jeff G. says:

My mother went to the courthouse to file the complaint. They gave her some paper work to fill out.

When she approached them with it, they told her that they were about to change shifts, and that she’d have to start over again.

    That’s your fucking legal system.

  277. LTC John says:

Yup, JHo, ALL lawyers are lazy thieves – you wouldn’t believe what I got away with, muhuwahahaha! Broad enough brush you tar with?

  278. LTC John says:

Jeff – that sounds very … Cook County, IL. Her tax dollars at work… or Unwork as the case seems to be.

  279. Hadlowe says:

After some quick (and thus not thorough) research:

Oregon provides a statutory civil cause of action for stalking, which includes both statutory and punitive damages as well as attorney’s fees (if you win, the other side pays for the lawsuit entirely.) A quick google search lists a half-dozen firms in Eugene who claim some expertise in stalking cases.

Pointing out the potentially fraudulent transfer of property when approaching a firm should grease the wheels somewhat by pointing to attachable assets.

As to the parents. Here is the language from the Oregon harrassment statute that should give them concern. ORS § 166.065. Harassment. (2001)

“A person is criminally liable for harassment if the person knowingly permits any telephone or electronic device under the person’s control to be used in violation of subsection (1) of this section.”

Section 1 includes use of abusive words (I’m guessing the epithets Jeff includes would count for that) and generally any alarming or threatening phone calls.

If the parents are providing lodging and amenities, they are arguably in control of the phones and computers Frisch is using. Having been made aware of Frisch’s past actions and allowing her continued access to “their” phone and computer may constitute knowing permission, and is at least a colorable claim of harrassment by them under the Oregon statute. Even if they aren’t concerned about civil penalties for their daughter’s actions, Harrassment is a criminal offense and can result in up to 6 months in prison and a $2,500 fine.

  280. Jim in KC says:

you wouldn’t believe what I got away with, muhuwahahaha!

Does it have anything to do with to do with typos, LTC John?

    ;-)

  281. Hadlowe says:

Sorry, the fraudulent transfer of property I was referring to above was in reference to largenfirm’s comment @251. Transferring assets to hide them from a potential judgment is generally considered fraudulent, especially if the transferor continues to use the property after the transfer and the person taking title to the property doesn’t pay fair market value for it.

  282. LTC John says:

Jim, were it possible to make money from typos, I’d buy Bill Gates for laughs…

  283. Rob Crawford says:

When she approached them with it, they told her that they were about to change shifts, and that she’d have to start over again.

That’s just criminally stupid. Seriously, the paperwork is specific to a given shift?

  284. Jeff G. says:

My mother just left the courthouse. She was told Frisch has to call and harass her three times before she can file a complaint.

    Justice!

  285. LTC John says:

“She was told Frisch has to call and harass her three times before she can file a complaint.”

    WTF?! Really…WTF?!

  286. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

To me, to be hired they must be presumed crap until proven barely competent; their just comeuppance for wrecking the liberties and rights of so many innocent citizens in the State’s only legal forum.

Agreed in that, as u said, such is the status quo.

A large firm is much different from 3 guys/gals with a hung shingle and a name to make for themselves. Regardless, you’re right that most plaintiff attorneys in non tort reform states can make a decent living simply firing off demand letters and hoping their ambulance chasing/ business molesting bonefides will get them a check cut pre “motion to dismiss” and there by cost them not a nickel or a days work.

As for custody? Don’t get me started on family law attorneys. Glad I’ve never had to feel that particular pain.

Back in the day I worked with many firms in Dallas. Most small firms 3-12 (hence my, everybody’s got to pay rent quip), some large 30+. Either way, the fact that your record for decent representation is 1:4?

    You should get a trophy.

    I won’t argue. There’s a reason for lawyer jokes.

  287. Jeff G. says:

Oh. And they also told her that you can’t file charges for internet harassment, because “no one can prove where the posts came from.” Because its not like IP logs or phone records or hard drives, etc., contain such information.

I think my mother wandered into a courthouse from the 1970s.

Anyone want to cheer for our great legal system now?

  288. Jeff G. says:

They essentially just decided to blow off the old gal. Figured she wouldn’t know dick about how the internet works and they bet correctly.

    Kudos!

  289. Makewi says:

Oh man. I’m really sorry to hear this. I had hope she would have moved well past you.

I wonder if her parents attend a church, and if so if a call to their pastor/priest/rabbi might help to get them moving to do the right thing here.

  290. JHo says:

Broad enough brush you tar with?

    Er:

    Comment by JHo on 10/13 @ 11:33 am #

Not to paint all attorneys with the same broad brush, but my experience has been…

    Reading is fundamental. To law.

  291. JHo says:

Either way, the fact that your record for decent representation is 1:4?

    You should get a trophy.

Thanks. And no, it’s actually 2:5 over 15 years. It’s a hamster wheel greased by never fixing a damn thing.

I feel for you JG, I really do.

  292. Hadlowe says:

I apologize if this has been linked already, but dear god almighty.

“This is pity,” he thought, and then he lifted his head in wonder. He thought that there must be something terribly wrong with a world in which this monstrous feeling is called a virtue.”

  293. Benedick says:

Jeff, your mom spent her day with a bunch of city or county employees who got their jobs-for-life because their cousins or sisters or whatever are friends with the “recorder of deeds” or the “prothonotary” or the “registrar of wills,” who gets re-elected every four years because his last name has been a big, recognizable one in local politics since his grandfather was a big shot judge forty years ago. And they work 9:30 to 3:30 with an hour lunch and a fifteen-minute smoke break every hour, and in between they read magazines and drink coffee and sneer at the public. And they can never be fired because — TA DA! — they’re in a union. Way it goes in every local courthouse. Period. It’s not a legal-system thing (or not JUST a legal-system thing). It’s a government thing.

  294. Jeff G. says:

Maybe so, Benedick. But how is she supposed to file a complaint if no one will take it?

  295. JHo says:

    It’s a government thing.

    Exactly.

  296. JHo says:

Jeff, as mildly as I can put it, the way to get results is to be aligned with either revenue or some article of official State faith. As for the latter, you’ve been exposing it for a decade.

  297. Lamontyoubigdummy says:

A Google search for famous people in Eugene, Oregon lists only Some D-list politicians, Steve Prefontaine, and Mary Decker (who chemically turned out to be more man than woman upon drug tests).

    Now…Deb Frisch?

    Really Eugene? Really?

  298. If I hadn’t seen the same damn thing done to my wife by bureaucrats and salepeople and even a hotel desk crew, I could never believe it — people whose job it is to serve the public are barely two steps higher on the evolutionary ladder than turnips.

In the case of the hotel desk, all I had to do to get them off their phones and computers to chek us into our rooms, was to go and stand next to my wife at the counter. I didn’t need to say a word, or even stay at the counter once the manager started doing his job.

Even the fucking DMV has never tried to pull any shit with me — except once, by mail. I’m beginning to think it’s me.

  299. cranky-d says:

You must be an imposing man in person, Mr. McGehee. Have you a practiced glare? I understand that works sometimes.

  300. Right state, wrong city. Also, wrong perp.

Contradiction? I was careful to start by framing my comment and I ended by framing my opinion and my method for dealing with the legal community.

If you want to get into the many problems in America’s finest legal system, maybe we could buckle down and start with incidences of, say, individual substance abuse. From there, conflict of the client’s interest and simple corruption. Then, legal abuse syndrome.

  315. Allen says:

If I might offer a little advice on this, I have some experience with it. Normally, restraining orders can be ammended to include other family members. If you already have one against the woman, you should be able to add your mother to the order. To my knowledge all 50 states have reciprocity so they are in effect everywhere, and subsequently can include other family regardless of where they live. Since there is a history, it probably won’t be that difficult to ammend it with the court in your county.

To get that ammendment, the person will have to be legally served, this you do by involving the county where they live. Copies of the order should be sent to the county DA where they reside, as well as the Sheriff’s Office, and any municipal police. They can serve them with the papers for a small fee. This serves a sceond purpose, the DA’s office, and Sheriff are now aware of further activity.

The follow-up, elections are coming up, and the DA might be up for re-election. Put together a coherent package and tell the story. Most of the time the local papers will have a high interest in what the county DA is up to. Send it to them.

From this point forward don’t talk about her, write about her, nothing. Continue to document anything ahe sends, writes, or does, and continue to send copies to the DA and Sheriff. Continue to send updates to the newspapers as well.

The idea is that with constant pressure the various folks within the local system have to act or they look like incompetents to everyone. It takes time and patience, but with the right pressure it can work out.

    Best

There may also be something about how, when I’m dealing with people who seem to think it’s their mission in life to piss me off, I always have the default assumption that if all else fails I can just track ’em down and beat the living shit out of ’em.

I’ve never actually gotten to that point and I’m really not sure what I’d do if I ever did — but they don’t know that, and as long as I don’t say it out loud they can’t have me arrested.

With men, I think in the back of our minds that option is always on the table. However, it has to be another man causing the trouble. That’s part of the reason I think women will basically go nuts and not be afraid, because there are no potential physical repercussions.

  357. High Sierra says:

    Jeff,

I strongly second the advice to pursue your legal avenues to the fullest extent of the law, but in the most discreet way possible.

This freak of a former professor has a serious mental illness. She’s got at least three psychological issues that any lay person could spot, but the worst is that she’s a rage junkie. She has no self control and she spews filth on others because it makes her feel better. Literally, it makes her feel better–smearing others releases a chemical in her brain that feels good. It elevates her moods, gives her a rush, and feeds into her narcissistic personality disorder and mania.

How to beat it? Starve the beast. Meaning give her no attention. A two year old throwing a tantrum should not get that which they crave; in her case, it’s attention. Yours. She’s manically reading all these updates and comments on your blog and having multiple stalker-gasms right on her computer chair. She loves it, can’t get enough. And no one in the legal system will stop her until she does something to follow through on her threats. That’s the nature of our society with respect to stalking, or really to anyone making crazy threats. We had a violent 5150 situation in our family, and the responding officers told us that it’s not against the law to be crazy. Direct quote–this after the 5150 heaved a 30 pound concrete object at the head of a family member.

I understand your rationale in confronting her– that she has made so many people withdraw so as to not draw her filthy focus, you feel it does a disservice to back down. And you’re not one to pull back from a fight, rightfully so in this case. So you are correct that you must fight her in the legal system, otherwise she will just spew her bile on someone else. But the way you go about it clearly isn’t working the way you want, because she’s still getting a payoff. She has nothing better to do than troll the net and go through her little enemies list every few days or weeks to see what sort of pot she can stir, to entertain her sick and sadistic mind.

It’s self-gratification, even though she uses others to achieve it. So just cut her off. It takes time and energy to create and maintain the philosophical space you have here, and it would be criminal to waste any of that energy on this woman. She is a black hole. She will take whatever she can get in terms of stirring up your anger and protective instincts. She gets off on it– and as an intelligent, articulate, and alpha male, you can be relied on to rise to the bait and respond in a way that feeds her sick need. All she has to do is target the innocent people you love, and she knows you will give her the satisfaction she’s craving in her empty, pathetic life.

Maybe knowing why she does it can help cut her off? I mean, why does she spend all this time stoking your fury on behalf of those whose only “crime” is that they love you? Frankly, it is because she has no one to protect her. She must be insanely jealous of your mother and wife and child, because she knows there’s no one out there who would take a bullet for her, who would spend hours worrying about how best to protect and shield her from life’s ugliness. It’s quite sad, when you think about it, but that doesn’t mean you should have to put up with it.

And since the legal system requires much time and effort to be forced to do its job (because, as a free society, we go to the extreme of protecting one’s right to be crazy, as insane as that sounds), you’re going to have to branch out your strategy and make it less worthwhile for her to attack you.

By all means pursue the probation violation, harassment, and cyber-stalking crimes. But do so in a way that withholds from this crazy bitch that which she craves most–attention. Don’t post any more on the subject–your case against her is well-stated and recorded for posterity. Anyone who does a search on her name will find out immediately that she’s batshit crazy and give her a wide berth. Your service to civilized society is complete, and your duty to your family can be carried out in the most non-gratifying way possible where this attention-whore is concerned.

Don’t feed the rage junkie. You can neuter her without giving up your claims against her in the legal system, and without forgoing your responsibility to protect and shield your family.

And in the meantime, post a small link to the Protein Wisdom defense fund and we’d all be happy to fill the tip jar. Decent people abhor wanton cruelty and prejudice, and this whack job has both in spades.

Sorry if I sound preachy, it’s just a topic that I’ve dealt with in the past, and one I feel passionately about. My 5150 family member was writing the CIA and Secret Service with rants and threats, and it still didn’t go ANYWHERE beyond a 15 day stay in the county loony bin. Don’t hold your breath for the legal system to ride to the rescue, though you do have to run through the paces required in the event that you come before a sympathetic judge.

Take care. Seriously. Oh, and 2nd Amendment rights on your part are perhaps a wise adjunct to 1st Amendment freedoms on hers….

    Jeff,

I am so sorry that Deb has ramped up the crazy AGAIN! I live in Eugene, and am quite familiar with her actions and insanity. I was a student at UO when she was teaching there, but never took her class. She and I were briefly employed at the same place (can’t say where, I don’t want her to even try to imagine who I am), but I only interacted with her briefly. This was all before her crazy became so obvious.

I do know some of her victims here in Eugene, and they have gone through hell. I know some who used to be her friends. They had to leave her because she is just too insane. I wish I had something encouraging to say or an idea of what to do with this situation legally, but I don’t.

I am furious with our current legal situation in Lane County. For years, the county budget for law enforcement has decreased yearly, resulting in fewer police officers and fewer jail beds. Sex offenders are arrested and released. Dangerous criminals are arrested and released the next morning, with the hope that they will show up for trial. The jail has plenty of beds but doesn’t have enough money to keep those beds open. IIRC, only 30-50% of the jail’s available beds are in use because of the budget crisis we are experiencing.

This budget crisis is killing our community. I believe that our local law enforcement does the very best that they can with the limited resources they have. But we are not a safe community and people like Deb Frisch know that there is little that will happen to them. The police officers want to do much, much more than they can. But we need so many more officers than we have. And we need the jail beds to open up. Unfortunately, most in the community ignore the law enforcement crisis we have and refuse to help pay to keep cops on the street and jail beds open. It is only when they are victimized that they realized how bad the law enforcement situation is.

I am shocked that Deb can get away with everything she has does. She costs the taxpayers enormous amounts of money. She clogs the courts with BS while others with serious cases can’t get court time. She is arrested, released, arrested, released…..

Nationally, we need to take harassment crimes more seriously. Victims end up paying large amounts of money trying to get protection while the law does little once restraining orders are in place.

It does look like Deb will serve some jail time. Hopefully she will also be forced back into drug treatment and mental health care. But she has had to do all of this before, and it hasn’t helped much.

You and all of your family are in my thoughts. I wish I had something more helpful to say.

There’s no place to put mentally ill people away anymore; there is jail and (other than a night or two on a green warrant) there is nothing else but perhaps a voluntary stay in some treatment facility – a facility designed more to suck up insurance benefits than to treat.

It’s a travesty. There ought to be a way to remove people like this – it’s not a crime to be crazy but at the same time sanity in law would require persons whose disease cannot be controlled adequately be confined – for indefinite periods – where they can’t hurt other people and where they are monitored and treated.

    F. is beyond hope; she will spend the rest of her days this way, and other than her minor crimes that bring her into some contact with counseling she will live among us. Probation violation might get her another unpleasant break in jail, but it’s unlikely to amend her behavior in the future.

No doubt a function of a political mentality which holds that criminals are really victims of society, and so the humane thing to do is to decriminalize crime. If only Jeff were a /insert politically favored class here/, then she’d be under the jail by now.

Uh, no, not in OR, IMO. Oregon gets hit hard by recessions, and city services have been stripped to the bone.

Oregon isn’t known for treating criminals lightly. At least, not once they are incarcerated. Many in our community refuse to pay taxes for law enforcement, jails and prisons. We have lost our specialized mental health facility for mentally ill inmates (putting jail employees at greater risk and costing the state to pay more per mentally ill prisoner). There is little drug treatment in our jail system. We do have work camps where prisoners can cut their incarceration time if they do hard labor. We don’t treat inmates as as victims. We treat them as criminals and expect them to work while incarcerated.

A large portion of the Oregon Coast line has 1 officer per 100 miles. Yep. 1 officer.

I appreciate that people don’t like to pay taxes. But jails and prisons are a necessity. And Oregonians refuse to pay for law enforcement. Then when they get robbed, they are the most vocal about the lack of services. Which they voted no for for years.

Jeff, these websites will have much of what you are looking for and are well organized:

    http://tehdailysqueak.blogspot.com
    http://internetisforever.blogspot.com/

The 2nd site has screenshots of everything. They are very up to date. I am catching screenshots of info she has posted since internetisforever last posted.

If I have time tonight, I will see what I can put together. I can’t promise anything; I have a presentation that I need to prepare.

    I will email you.

  390. Kent says:

You do know she’s reading here, yes?

Got any other words of encouragement for her?

    Allow me, Jeff.

Deb: know that when you eventually, finally do die — as must all born of woman, sooner or later — you will die alone, and unloved, with no one there willing to hold your hand or whisper your name as whatever ultimately makes you you dwindles and fades into the final darkness.

Your life, to date, has been sour and small, and utterly, unutterably sad. You cling to it still only out of spite, and sullen reflex.

Feeling sorry for you, at this point, would be roughly analagous to attempting to sympathize with a skin lesion, or pitying a fart.

  391. funnyhaha says:

First batch of screen-captures emailed to you, Jeff.

At the hearing, the contrast between your stately mien along with your even measured delivery and the subject’s sloppy slurred logorrhea will be too great to simply ignore.

This ‘doris the diddler’ transcript of hers makes me see fucking red. That poor woman.

Deb sounds like a child molester. She’s so obsessed with this infantile sex language and hurting people that I wonder if she’s been molested.

That’s not an excuse. And I agree that it seems like someone is enabling this. Whoever is paying for this internet connection is probably aware that it’s illegal for her to be online.

Is there any chance of telling the ISP that there’s a restraining order against her being online? Why in the hell does blogspot leave this blog running?

One part of me things she’s just a wild animal that speaks English (sorta), ready to do real damage. The other thinks this reeks of a Phelps scam, where she’s hoping someone is agitated enough to screw with her and give her a some kind of legal figleaf.

I don’t have the stamina to keep up with this woman’s crazy, not that she’s leaving the Goldsteins with an opt-out choice.

  395. my two cents says:

“Deb: know that when you eventually, finally do die — as must all born of woman, sooner or later — you will die alone, and unloved, with no one there willing to hold your hand or whisper your name as whatever ultimately makes you you dwindles and fades into the final darkness.”

OK, I’ve read every comment and kept quiet up till now but that was just mean.

The woman is obviously clinically disturbed and needs to be in an institution. Plus her parents obviously do love her.

Just because she’s doing evil things doesn’t mean no one loves her. If she won’t commit herself, God grant that she gets put in jail for a long time so she can start to get the psych treatment she so obviously needs.

Oh, and Deb, if you’re reading this? Hope you go to jail, but I hope even more that you’ll get yourself to a hospital before that happens. It’d probably go much better than you’re fearing at your Oct 25 court appearance if you’d take that step. Do it. And don’t kill yourself in the meantime — call a suicide hotline. Do it now.

  396. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – Looking at the body of evidence in her writing and history, all signs point to a bi-polar personality. Individuals with deep seated personal psychosis often times gravitate toward careers in psychiatry or closely related fields.

    – Just as a possible profile, her split with her partner may well have been a result of bi-polar episodes which consist ob periods of almost total normalcy, generally passive in nature, with sudden changes in character and demeanor in the space of a few seconds. During these ‘manic’ episodes anything can happen. All out angry attacks on people close to the sufferer, extensive paranoia, and magnified schizophrenic delusions. Following such periods of loss of control, bi-polar’s generally slide into a depressed state for a few days to a week, and then suddenly return to seemingly normal control and personal interaction with others.

    – Typical traits are:

    – Turrettes of a sort – uncontrollable lewd and lucivious/threatening language, writing, and speech patterns
    – Wild accusations and verbal/physical attacks
    – Loss of the ability to relate to the reality of their surrounding’s and personal relationships
    – Substance abuse, principly Ahcohol, but sometimes intermixed with other forms of drug intake, often aover the counter nedicines
    – Hypochondria
    – Suicidal thoughts and attempts/actions
    – Uncontrollable mental activity (described as like be forced to watch a TV while the channels are switched continuously ever few seconds for hours at a time)
    – Periods of manic elation, often accompanied with bouts of wreck-less spending or gambling.

    – Bi-polar’s are one of the least understood and most difficult of mental disabilities for even trained psychologists/psychiatrists to deal with. ‘Normalally balanced people lack the inter-personal tools to deal with bi-polar’s, and so eventually break off the relationship, generally after much damage has occurred in terms of financial/personal relationships and life styles.

    – Long term prognosis. No known cures. Moderation medicines exist, but the very nature of the problem causes them to avoid treatments, or go off meds if not monitored because of inherent paranoia idea’s that they’re perfectly normal, and professionals family are out to get them and forcing them to medicate when they’re convinced they don’t need it.

    – Bi-polar’s, something around 50% of this group, will simply out grown this disorder in their upper middle age around their 40’s or 50’s, or they continue until they die.

    – No one really understands why.

    – General professional consensus: disassociate yourself from these individuals. They are a danger to themselves and others if left untreated and monitored constantly for outward signs of episodes.

  397. Kent says:

that was just mean […] Just because she’s doing evil things doesn’t mean no one loves her.

You are romanticizing the bipedal equivalent of an open syphilitic sore.

Hence the flat, level stare on my part.

  398. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – The most marked characteristic of Bi-polars is the multiple personality aspect of their ongoing behavior over time. They can, and often do , display as many as 15 different, and totally distinct personalities. These changes can occur in the space of a single sentence, switching form a totally benign personage to a raving, angry lunatic like episode, including fearsome facial and mannerism changes, and threatening words and physical attacks.

    – Studies in the field have shown that these seperate ‘idemtities’ are truly unique. A female bi-polar may be ‘Ruth’ one instant and ‘Ann’ the next, and they can have totally different physiological conditions. Ruth may in fact suffer from Lactose intolerance, where Ann has no such problem. Ann can be pseudo-pregnant, showing all the signs of carrying a fetus, where Ruth has no such condition. The various personalities are manifestly ‘complete’, and often bare no relation to the main character of the sufferer. The patient almost always “names” these personalities, and carries on inter conversations between them at times, but bi-polars do not always mention that to others for fear of being called ‘crazy’. The disorder is insipid and self relational, building and feeding on the skewed impressions and loss of reality it engenders.

    – Immediate professional help is indicated.

  399. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – There exists a strong suggestion that bi-polarism, or some related forms of multiple personality/identity neurosis is the source for the pre-modern age of medicine exemplified by ‘possessions’ and ‘exorcism’ superstition’s and rituals, although to date no concerted professional study has been made to investigate this possibility.

Having followed her since the PW unpleasantness started, I can understand your post and in fact it sounds a lot like my writing on the matter in the early days. In the intervening time it has become clear to me that she does not deserve the compassion of anyone, let alone from Jeff or the fans of PW.

Okay, speaking of needing help, you’re going to need some yourself if you don’t take a pill or something and get some sleep and soon.

This isn’t a joke — a few yrs ago I personally witnessed a psychotic episode in someone close to me who was completely sane, but overwhelming stress over a situation at the time (it was a stalker too, surprise surprise) deprived her of sleep for a few days. She ended up in the hospital for two days w/ a near psychotic break.

Bullshit. If anyone cared for her, they’d have made her stop. If anyone truly loved her, they’d have locked her up until she got healthy. This hasn’t happened.

The damage that she’s doing to herself is such that any loved one could not stand by and watch, much less continue to enable it. On top of that, the damage that she’s doing to others is such that those who enable it are aiding and abetting evil.

She is destroying herself and others, and nobody is stopping her. Ergo, she is alone and unloved. At this point, I pray for a swift end to her activities, and I really don’t care what form it takes.

After that, I have to get him dinner and get him to wrestling practice by 5:30 – 7. From there, I have to make myself some dinner and get the kid showered and ready for bed. Then I have to get his lunch ready for tomorrow, put him to bed, get the dogs taken care of, etc. By that time it’s close to 10 o’clock, and I’ll be wired.

You’re sure right about that, and even more so when it’s your family involved as well as yourself. Having personally witnessed in a friend what you usually only read about as a “study” (the mental effects of several days of sleep deprivation) was a big shock to me, and it scared me enough that I’ve warned several people about what can happen if they don’t get sleep for a while.

I get that Jeff has more to do than he ever deserved dumped on him, in addition to his regular family responsibilities, but if he gets sick he won’t be able to function to do it at all. Hope he can take a pill tonight — since his body is on full alert he’ll need chemical help to give it what it should have — at least a few hrs of sleep.

  423. Jack says:

I would like to make a suggestion to everyone here who wants to support Jeff in any way they can. I call it the “I am Jeff Goldstein” movement.

I think a way to deal with Deb Frisch is to provide her with a multitude of targets. This is the same argument that was used when criticizing the MSM when they refused to publish the Danish Mohammad Cartoons. My suggestion is that we all provide our name, address and phone number, and join in dealing with abuse Deb Frisch is dealing out.

I want to give Deb the chance to declare war on all of us who are willing to be a target. And besides, I think Deb is really, really hot.

Great — make her feel like the center of the universe. Make her know how many people she’s “touched”.

Gestures are nice, but won’t end this.

  427. Professor Blather says:

    Hey Jeff –

I’ve read your blog for several years and followed the Frisch kerfluffle since it started in 2006 (well, at least the version involving you … I suppose there are countless similar victims dating back decades).

At first it was mostly amusing. Her politics and her absolutely cartoonish stereotyped personal of a lefty radical just made her funny. Everything she did reminded of old Canadian sketch comedies. I used to actually wonder if she was fictional, or perhaps the genius creation of some right winger looking to tar the left with pile of crazy.

But then it quit being funny. As it became increasingly clear that the woman is basically handicapped, stricken by mental illness and addiction. Laughing at her now is like laughing at any other mentally retarded person – the laughs are only mean-spirited. Its like picking on the crippled kid on the playground. Not much fun in it. So I quit paying attention, and I figured she’d vanished into the mists of Internet weirdness.

But this? This is over the top. And here’s my problem: I don’t understand why you – or any of the others who report on her lunacy – are giving her so much free press and attention.

She is a real life troll – somebody who lives her life exactly as an Internet troll behaves online, and for all the same reasons. And like all trolls, she wants only one thing – and that’s the thing you’re giving her: your emotion, your attention, your interest, even your hatred.

I understand you can’t just ignore her. I completely understand the need to document everything she does. And I could understand taking all sorts of actions, including legal efforts and contacting her family in an attempt to get her help … or get her to stop.

But I don’t get the point of the blog posts. I mean, I’m reading it – and commenting – so if the point is to drum up traffic, I get it. It’s riveting drama. A real-life reality show, only one so unbelievable that nobody would watch it on television. Its too ludicrous to be real, but it is … so we watch, rubbernecking at the road rage on the highway.

But if you actually want her to stop … what you’re doing is absolutely the worst possible option.

This creature has nothing. She has absolutely not one thing to live for … except the reactions of her targets. And right now she is thrilled to death! She’s somebody right now, in her eyes. Her delusions of grandeur are affirmed. People are paying attention!

The sad truth is law enforcement really won’t help much – until she actually does something, attempts to physically harm somebody. The problem is obvious: she has nothing at all to lose. Most people care about their reputations, their friends, their family, their jobs, their money … so civil sanctions, or publicizing harassment suits or restraining orders really tends to restrain most of us. Because WE’RE SANE and actually have something to lose.

She doesn’t have any of those things. Not one of them. Not one thing to lose. Nothing. She is that mythical unemployed middle-aged basement dweller. She’s the real deal, and she can’t be humiliated, can’t be embarrassed, can’t lose her job, can’t lose her non-existent friends or family or money …

She’s bulletproof. She has nothing, and cares about nothing.

Except the one thing you’re giving her: attention.

I don’t know what to tell you. I sure feel for you. She’s evil. But this ain’t going to help your cause.

Good luck to you. And I do hope she gets some help.

It’s truly scary what the lost and worthless can do on the Internet when they have nothing to lose and no shame.

  428. Here’s something that may help 1-800-FYI-CALL, the National Center for Victims of Crime Helpline

Mention this (apologies for the length):

47 USCS § 223. Obscene or harassing telephone calls in the District of Columbia or in interstate or foreign communications. (2006)

    (a) Prohibited acts generally. Whoever-

    (1) in interstate or foreign communications-

    (A) by means of a telecommunications device knowingly-

    (i) makes, creates, or solicits, and

    (ii) initiates the transmission of, any comment, request, suggestion, proposal, image, or other communication which is obscene or child pornography, with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass another person;

    (B) by means of a telecommunications device knowingly-

    (i) makes, creates, or solicits, and

    (ii) initiates the transmission of, any comment, request, suggestion, proposal, image, or other communication which is obscene or child pornography, knowing that the recipient of the communication is under 18 years of age, regardless of whether the maker of such communication placed the call or initiated the communication;

    (C) makes a telephone call or utilizes a telecommunications device, whether or not conversation or communication ensues, without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any person at the called number or who receives the communications;

    (D) makes or causes the telephone of another repeatedly or continuously to ring, with intent to harass any person at the called number; or

    (E) makes repeated telephone calls or repeatedly initiates communication with a telecommunications device, during which conversation or communication ensues, solely to harass any person at the called number or who receives the communication; or

    (2) knowingly permits any telecommunications facility under his control to be used for any activity prohibited by paragraph (1) with the intent that it be used for such activity, shall be fined under title 18, United States Code, or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

  429. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – #423 – And that comment is exactly why bi-polar disorder is such a problem to deal with. There’s never anything wrong, and they see no reason to seek help. in spite of the devastated lives they leave in their wake. DF has all the outward signs. Is this you Deb?

  430. Darleen says:

She’s bulletproof. She has nothing, and cares about nothing.

Except the one thing you’re giving her: attention.

One problem, Prof, if she really was nothing but a troll, then ignoring her would be easy.

    But she’s proven herself dangerous.

She doesn’t have the $$ to travel (yet) but she has enough to pay for information in which to track down family members and harass them.

Now is time to embarrass the authorities that protect themselves but refuse to protect others by getting the 5150 Freak into some locked facility.

Is she mentally ill? Without question. Does that somehow mean she is incapable of causing harm? Of course not. Being drunk or insane isn’t an extenuating circumstance when other people’s lives are at stake.

  431. A Gerbil says:

This is in response to #435

The sad truth is law enforcement really won’t help much – until she actually does something, attempts to physically harm somebody.

She already HAS tried to physically harm someone. She is on probation for macing a friend who drove her drunk ass home (after she was stopped by the police) so that she wouldn’t get in worse trouble. Deb then turned on that friend (a female who spurned her sexual advances) and started contacting friends, employers, relatives, and anyone else she thought she might be able to hurt the victim through. She stalks children and public officials in the Eugene area- high school kids are a big favorite and she’s even been to football games trying to find kids named in the local newspaper.

  432. Jeff G. says:

But I don’t get the point of the blog posts. I mean, I’m reading it – and commenting – so if the point is to drum up traffic, I get it.

Traffic? I lost a year of my life — and much of my traffic — dealing with her in 06-07.

Ever consider that maybe being barraged by such shit day after day — having your mother called up out of the blue, having your wife and child attacked — takes its toll, and that a forum of (mostly) sympathetic readers makes it easier for me to cope?

Fuck Frisch. I don’t care about starving her of attention. I did that for 3 years and nothing changed. In fact, if you look at the Deb Frisch time line in the post proper, you’ll see that she never stopped in all that time — that she has consistently and regularly harassed and assaulted innocent people almost daily regardless of whether or not the attacks were publicized widely.

I appreciate the pop-psych suggestions on how to starve her narcissistic personality, but frankly, exposing her has always worked best: it led to her firing, it led to her criminal record, and it led ultimately to the point in her life she finds herself today.

Yes, she still attacks people, and she’s still vile and vicious. But her string is playing out. And when it does, I’ll know I helped put down this rabid animal, and I’ll be proud that I did — and that the notoriety she has (such as it is) played a part in making certain such a fetid soul no longer lived comfortably in the academy, poisoning minds and wearing a veneer of respectability.

  433. Jeff G. says:

  434. Here’s something interesting, may apply if you have to go to Eugene, see sec 2262(a)(2). My reading is that if you have to go to Oregon to have the protective order enforced, which it should be already because of 18 USCS § 2265 (Full faith and credit given to protection orders.), then she’s in violation of Federal anti-stalking laws. Call the NCVC. She’s been violent before.

U.S.C.2262 Interstate Violation of a Protective Order

2262(a)(1) makes it a federal crime, punishable from five years to life in prison, to travel across tribal or international lines with the intent to violate a protective order and to subsequent conduct that violates that order.

2262(a)(2) makes it a federal crime, punishable from five years to life in prison, to cause a person to cross state, tribal, or international lines by force, coercion, duress, or fraud and subsequently engage in conduct that violates a protective order. The protective order must state that the abuser cannot threaten, harass or cause bodily injury. Federal anti-terrorism laws may also apply in some stalking cases, allowing victims to bring charges in federal court as an alternative to the state criminal court of their jurisdiction.

  435. Rob Crawford says:

    She’s bulletproof.

    Prove it.

(What? You weren’t speaking literally? Damn.)

  436. Big Bang Hunter says:

#436 – Your advice, while its certainly applicable to what might be called ‘normal’ internet trolls, who typically limit themselves to anonymous commenting, doesn’t work with people who are given to r/l acting out of their emotional issues. These sorts of individuals take harassment, defamation, and even physical encounters to a real and dangerous level, and cannot be simply ignored.

There’s always a chance she’ll stick her head in an oven between now and the 25th, but I doubt it.

  442. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – No one is twisting your arm to read this posting feets. It’s a very serious matter, and Jeff has every right to fight this sort of criminal behavior in any way he can.

    – Her lastest shows she has no sense of self preservation. She seems to be following the usual mentally disabled “death by cop” approach, where shes obsessively documenting her own demise with authorities, in this case “incarceration by law enforcement” as it were.

  443. Charles Purvis says:

    Jeff–

I’ve been an occasional reader here for six years or so, and I’ve commented maybe 3-4 times here in that time. I just wanted to pop up and say out loud that your forum of sympathetic readers is probably FAR larger than you may even realize, just on the chance that this thought can provide some incremental comfort or peace.

For every regular commenter, there are absolutely thousands more who are tuned in to and reading these updates, and who are standing by ready to assist in any way possible.

Lean on your audience for help as much as you need . . . I’d bet it all that there’s nothing you’re capable of asking for that someone here wouldn’t step up and help with.

    Jeff,

Thanks for the updates on your situation. There are a LOT of people out here in Internet-land supporting you, praying for you, and wishing you a definitive victory over this psychotic, demon-possessed harpy.

PLEASE GET SOME SLEEP TONIGHT! You will be much more effective in opposing her, and in living life in general, with some mental down time. If you’re averse to pills, a hot bath and hot toddy before you turn in will work wonders.

And if Debbie Dipsh!t is reading this: The entire Internet is laughing at you, and pities you for the cowardly, brain-damaged alcoholic bully and loser you are. If you want the judge to have the slightest bit of mercy to you on the 25th, COMMIT YOURSELF NOW to the local mental health facility and GET ON PSYCH MEDS.

  445. Jerrie Atrick says:

Just a note for some who feel for Deb Frisch. Mental illness in one thing, vile, vindictive, abusive, profane and violent behavior is quite another. I have an acquaintance who is bi-polar and she is none of those things. What makes Frisch so “special” is her desire to hurt others.

Her main targets are almost always children, people who are fat, and people who have disabilities.

Back in 2007, on the 4th anniversary of my young son’s death, I posted a picture of him along with a memorial of his life on Teh Squeaky Wheel. Within days Frisch posted his picture on her blog and threatened to make fun of him if I didn’t reveal who “Sinner” was. She is not above blackmail. Needless to say, I did not reveal Sinner’s identity.

The seeming need to hurt others is NOT a symptom of either manic depression or bi-polar disorder but instead the display of a deeply corroded soul. Whatever hell her wasted life becomes, she has earned it.

As to her parents, while I do feel for them on some level, their continued financial support of their adult daughter (45+) leaves them open to lawsuits – and I hope they come swiftly.

  446. physics geek says:

Jeff, I cannot believe that this steaming pile of human waste is still at it. Holy crap. She needs to be in a padded room wearing a special wrap-around coat.

  447. Spiny Norman says:

Her main targets are almost always children, people who are fat, and people who have disabilities.

In other words, those she believes cannot fight back.

  448. Spiny Norman says:

    physics geek,

Sadly, society is not permitted to do that anymore. So, instead, the deranged walk the streets until they do serious harm, to themselves or to others…

  449. Deb Frisch is not a victim, any more than a rabid dog that is trying to chow down on your child or your mother is a victim. Don’t waste sympathy on a public health/safety menace.

  450. Jennifer says:

Jeff, I sincerely hope you have means to defend yourself. The restraining order will not protect you should she decide to visit you personally. The police will not get there fast enough unless they have someone stationed at your home.
The crazy is strong with this one.

  451. Sinner says:

In other words, those she believes cannot fight back.

This is what is so disturbing in this case, usually once you stand up to her and have some success she backs down quickly (like all cowardly bullies). She usually goes and finds someone else (and their kids) to pick on. She has be revisiting her old list of victims lately but avoiding JG until now because he fights back.

The fact she is back to JG is disturbing…

  452. Jeff G. says:

I pray nightly that she shows up here, Jennifer.

  453. eleven says:

  454. I couldn’t agree more, eleven. Sympathizing with someone like Deb Frisch is exactly why she is running around loose terrorizing innocent people.

  455. Sigivald says:

Your family is *recording* these phone calls, I trust, as well as reporting them to the telco?

You might want to write to her ISP and tell them that her records will be wanted for a court case soon, so they should start bundling them, as well as telling the same thing to any email providers she’s using.

Start the record-gathering process now, if you haven’t already. But I bet you have.

(I also note that it’s after Noon PST on the 13th… and PW is still up. Funny how that is!)

Also – have you had your mother try calling the state Attorney General’s Office?

Election season’s coming up, and good PR is good PR. Even if they can’t directly help her, a little pressure on the local courtroom from above never hurt.

  456. Benedick says:

Jeff – don’t record phone calls. You can get into some nasty wiretapping issues. Some states have some surprisingly strict laws about it what would seem to be perfectly justified recording activity by a private citizen. Don’t mess with it.

Same logorrheic message delivery system, though. Godspeed and good luck.

  460. mikee says:

As to recording phone calls, a phone message recorder is legal everywhere to my knowledge. The person leaving the message is very clearly aware they are being recorded.

  461. JohnAnnArbor says:

Do we know where she’s located? Could a call to the local PD help, or will they just blow it off as “oh, she’s annoying someone again, who cares”?

  462. Benedick says:

Mikee, you’re correct about answering machines recording a message. But recording a live phone call can (sometimes) require the consent of the other party. And some states have not only civil causes of action available, but criminal penalties for violations.

  463. dattrakk says:

I imagine it wouldn’t be all that useful, but is there anyway to get the local media in on something like this? Sometimes the best way to goose the cops and the courts is to embarrass them. With DF going off on a rage like this, it seems like the perfect kind of story for the local media to run with.

    JohnAnnArbor,

Do we know where she’s located? Could a call to the local PD help, or will they just blow it off as “oh, she’s annoying someone again, who cares”?

Yeah, we know where she is, and she is supposedly on probation, but her repeated violations of the terms of that probation seem to attract no attention whatsoever from local authorities. So, the second part of your question appears to be correct.

  470. JohnAnnArbor says:

    That’s too bad, Spiny.

Jeff, I wonder if there’s a penalty for filing a false report with child services? Maybe THAT would be the probation violation that gets someone’s attention.

  471. Benedick says:

She sure has a knack for the convincing argument. That comment of yours she quoted, Jeff — where you admit to, inter alia, taking your son to and from school, feeding him, assisting him with homework, seeing to his personal hygiene, as well as taking care of your pets and home — that there’s the sort of depraved admission that will surely spur any overloaded, government-paid caseworker immediately to your front door, protective child custody order in hand.

  472. Spiny Norman says:

Looks like she’s hoping to bring child services into this now. See update 13.

Oh good lord. Seems to me that her bringing authorities into this cannot help but get them to finally take a look at what she’s been up to.

    Bugfuck crazy, indeed.

  473. Jeff G. says:

If anything, John, I’m more likely to have my kid taken away than she is to get in any trouble.

But were that to happen — and it won’t, so the point is moot — all bets would be off. And trust me, nobody wants to see me that way.

  474. I can see October 25 from my house.

I only wish it might be as huge as the other thing I see a week or so behind it.

  475. JohnAnnArbor says:

    Dammit.

This is just BACKWARDS. Nutball makes serial false complaints/actual threats and nothing happens. Jeff makes legitimate complaints of obvious probation violations and nothing happens.

I mean, is the default here that “nothing happens” because it’s less trouble for the agencies?

  476. JHo says:

What Benedict said, Jeff. Do not record phone calls unless CO is a one-consenting-party state.

  477. Rob Crawford says:

I mean, is the default here that “nothing happens” because it’s less trouble for the agencies?

    Bingo.

  478. Deb’s got Spinal Tapp beat — her crazy goes all the way up to 13.

  479. KD says:

Unfortunately, I too have been repeatedly victimized by Frisch, in person, on her blog, by emailing my family and friends… to name only a few. I do plan to be at her hearing and testify if needed. I doubt seriously that she will get more than 20-days if that. The Judge will also need to “sanction” her so that her probation will continue through to March 2012. It’s a shame that the jail is so under-funded as they will probably “matrix” her out early because they have to house those who are more of a threat to the entire population. Believe me, the Courts, the DA’s office, and the police are as frustrated as everyone else; she has stalked and harassed them personally as well as their family members. They know that it is only a matter of time until someone is physically hurt, and yet their hands are tied.

All I can say, is if you’ve been victimized, keep fighting the good fight… maybe she’ll trip up and sink her ship legally/criminally before someone is hurt, and then something can be done. She can (and her parents can) also be sued in small claims courts for her actions. It’s a very small filing fee, and she can be confronted by you personally. Injunctions and damages are obtainable through this means.

My take on her mental illness is that she has a Borderline Personality Disorder and Sociopath comorbidity. Both nearly impossible to treat. She will always believe that she is smarter than others, thus, making it difficult to treat. And until she commits a crime while mentally ill, there is no way to force treatment upon her.

I just pray that we don’t turn on the news someday and see where she’s killed multiple victims.

  480. KD says:

“I mean, is the default here that “nothing happens” because it’s less trouble for the agencies?”

No, they would like to see her locked up a good, long time. It’s a lack of money in the criminal justice system with criminals that are higher priority. Deb knows this too. And sometimes it’s because no actually law has been broken, or she manages to stay right in the “gray zone.” Sometimes the law is broken, but it’s really such a low priority when the authorities have to triage what gets handled and what doesn’t.

  481. Jeff G. says:

I’ve noticed the authorities are pretty quick to block Frisch access to them.

It’s a great way to watch without reinforcing. However, it’s not quite as simple as “She lives for these traffic, for the hits. Shut down the linky feedback, you’ll starve the beast.”. You see, Deb gets some sort of perverse satisfaction out of flinging poo. Even without the hits, she keeps flinging it and seems to (figuratively) get off on it. At least this way you can watch the crayzee without getting infected. Also, if you go to her site, be sure to use protection. Proxies are your friend when dealing with little Debbie snack cakes.

It’s too bad I don’t get up to Oregon anymore, the brakes on 18 wheelers can go out sooo easily…

  493. SarahW says:

Jeff, I’m curious – did your mother speak to a police officer or clerk…or did she speak to a magistrate?
MD has a curse and abuse statute, and one call is a crime. Whether there is prosecution is another thing…and obtaining a protective order a separate issue altogether.

The most practical step to criminal justice action, however, is to make sure her parole violations are known to her parole officer and the court when she is brought before it for other violations, a matter already scheduled to be heard. Her sentence might be brief, but I doubt she will be given any opportunity for diversion.

You obtained a protective order before, and while I’m not clear on the point of her being prohibited to contact any of your relations, she had already violated the parts concerning yourself and your immediate family. She is in contempt of the court’s order. While it might not be practical or feasible to address the matter in court, documenting the violations with a letter to the (your) court, and another to the court in Oregon may make it easier to be hard with her.

I think Deb must be hiring herself out as a private tutor. She just posted a rant at a woman who didn’t hire a tutor because her husband decided to drop the class he wanted tutoring for. This must be one of the ways Deb makes some money.

  497. funnyhaha says:

I found this note on tehinternetsareforever:

“If Frisch sends you threatening messages, call the Lane County Sheriff’s Office (541-682-4150) and/or the Lane County Victims Services Department (541) 682-4523). They’re both VERY well acquainted with Frisch’s criminal record. Reference Frisch’s Oregon Criminal ID number (1675174)”

You likely already have those numbers, Jeff, but now you definitely have them.

  498. It’s nearly impossible to figure out how these people are linked, or when/whether the links are in her own mind. Her blog is like a set dressing for Criminal Minds–like the killing pad or private retreat of a psychopath.

  499. The thing that burns me–one of the things, and a minor one, certainly–is that we likely could have enjoyed quite a lot of clever, sweet daddy-blogging from Jeff these past several years, if not for this female and her weapons-grade crazee.

    – At some point ISP’s are going to have to start considering their own liabilities if they continue giving this loon access.

  501. Ric Locke says:

No, BBH, you don’t want to go there. It’s another instance of “hard cases make bad law”.

Making ISPs, etc. responsible for what flows through their systems is the first, well-greased step toward content control a la China.

    Regards,
    Ric

  502. John Hardin says:

    > Do not record phone calls unless CO is a one-consenting-party state.

I haven’t researched the law in CO, but the two-party-consent law in WA has an exception for when you’re recording evidence of a crime. CO may be similar.

  503. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – I’m not coming at this from a ‘censorship’ angle Ric. There are many instances where abusers have been giving court sanctions against any use of computers such as the worst of the hackers and others that have committed fraud. No reason why people who demonstrate obsessive abuse shouldn’t suffer the same fate. With such a court order ISP’s would at least be required to make the effort, however problematical.

  504. Donnie says:

I always assumed that harassment is against every ISP’s TOS agreement. In fact, I’m pretty sure that by signing on with an ISP you promise not to use their bandwidth to harass people or break the law.

  505. SarahW says:

    512. John Hardin – FWIW CO is a “one party” state (Colo. Rev. Stat. § 18-9-303). But MD, inexplicably, is not.

Happyfeet, I miss you all the time. The shin advice is very prudent also.

  506. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – Service organizations and gov agencies always announce that “this call may be monitored and recorded for quality purposes”, which I would assume gives the caller the opportunity to not continue and therebye satisfies the letter of the law in any state. Someone with a specific understanding of this issue should comment, because certain;y law enforcement would record any and all abusive, or threatening harassment type calls.

  507. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – Jeff – Re your #14 update – Turns out they live less than 15 minutes from me. If the need ever arises that you need letters/court orders hand delivered, just let me know.

  508. Jeff G. says:

Managed to get a few hours sleep last night. Unfortunately, my dogs woke me up at 1:30 (barking at the milk delivery man); then my son woke me up at 3:30 complaining of an ear ache (probably from wrestling; was able to get him back to sleep with some bubblegum-flavored ibuprofen).

So. 5 hours is better than nothing — and my wife gets home from her business trip today (if I told you where she’s been you wouldn’t believe me). Meantime, I’m running on fumes.

Sorry for the lack of new posts. But I’ve been busy documenting all the craziness, and today I have to get in touch with a number of people from Oregon — and try once again to contact Frisch’s relatives, to convince them to sign an order to have Frisch locked up for evaluation and treatment of a grubby soul.

  509. Squid says:

    She quoted me! Woo hoo!

Seriously, though, Eugene — it’s way past time to clean up your trash. I understand that money’s tight, but those of us living downstream really must insist. Figure something out already.

  510. But MD, inexplicably, is not.

Corrupt politicians write law that protects them from constituents with tape recorders. Film at 11.

  511. Jeff G. says:

    BBH —

Well, you could print out copies of what she’s been writing and show them to the relatives while imploring them to have her committed. Because it’s inevitable at this point that either she will eventually hurt someone physically, or someone will eventually hurt her in response to being under constant assault.

Benedict / Alec / et al.

I think it’s time to conceive of putting together a civil suit in Oregon. It will be difficult to name Frisch’s parents as co-defendants because they funded her by buying the property in which she lives (for $50k), making their involvement primarily one of property transfer. However, I’m not sure they charge her for rent and utilities, which is suggestive of a different kind of relationship.

If they are paying for her utilities — and so her internet use — knowing that she is using the web to harass, assault, and stalk, that might make them liable.

At the very least, naming them in a suit might better focus their attentions.

If any of you guys can help with this — and find someone willing to help on a contingency basis (sadly, I don’t have my own legal defense fund) — I say we move forward, with the goal being ultimately to have Frisch committed indefinitely, or else take away the last vestiges of money she has (she claimed in court documents to be indigent; but we know that she received $50K for “sale” of the Oregon property to her parents, Allen D. Frisch and Susan Frisch, who then allow her use of the property to live and engage in criminal behavior.

Their having been to court on her behalf suggests they know what it is she does; and I know for a fact they’ve been in receipt recently of copies of the filth Frisch has been posting about my family, and are aware of their daughter’s telephonic attack on my mother.

  512. jFry says:

Jeff, forgive if I’m suggesting what has been suggested, but it was mentioned there was a veiled threat on the president. The Secret Service takes that -very- seriously for obvious reasons, and if they know how over-the-top she is, I would think there would be some pretty fast action on their part. That doesn’t necessarily lock or bottle her up, but they might visit her relatives, etc, and that might help them get religion. I suppose there is a downside that it could throw her into more reaction – that’s your call, but I think a call to them might be in order.

  513. SGT Ted says:

What usually gets the polices attention and a better attempt from them to deal with the issue is to tell them calmly, in the course of the conversation, that you own a firearm and will use it to defend yourself if she shows up.

Involuntary commitment will take a court order. What the family wants will not be much for that.

  514. Joe says:

I am sorry that Deb Frisch is in your life. She is so insane you cannot discount the threat.

  515. Auspex says:

Here’s one thing that proves to me she’s not THAT crazy: She’s on probation for an actual physical assault, and while she’s been revisiting her irrational hatred of every other individual who’s she’s attacked in the past four years, she has NOT even mentioned the woman she assaulted. Her Oct. 25 probation violation hearing was mainly triggered by Deb stalking this woman to a drinking establishment for an event she was promoting and menacing her there (Deb loves the word “menacing” but in this case it was the real deal, staring and making threatening “i kill you” gestures). But in this latest outrage, she’s not mentioned this particular victim one time. Because the results would be immediate and severe, and she is aware of that.

  516. Auspex says:

Also, these episodes of hers tend to follow some massive FAIL on her part; she just recently lost a hilariously ill-advised lawsuit against various entities in Lane County and her appeal of same to the 9th Circuit. Instead of the MEELIONS of dollars she saw, she got humiliations galore. In other words, this isn’t a psychic break. It’s a spoiled brat’s tantrum.

  517. Benedick says:

Jeff, I’m making inquiries to find a suitable lawyer in Oregon to put you in touch with. (Basically, I need to find you one of those opportunist-type plaintiff-side lawyers.) Because I make my living trying to crush opportunist-type plaintiff-side lawyers, I won’t really be able to contact them directly on your behalf, but I’ll arm you with all the questions you’ll need to ask (and enticements you’ll want to offer) in talking with them directly. And any opportunist-type plaintiff-side lawyer worth his or her salt will be able to come up with at least a handful of legal bases for naming the parents in the lawsuit. Negligence is a (sometimes infuriatingly, occasionally helpfully) broad concept.

You are indeed correct, she hasn’t brought up this person, but I suspect that it is for an entirely different reason. This person has made it clear that they have obtained a firearm and has taken classes as to its care and use.

Doesn’t negate your thesis, in fact may amplify it as it no longer rests on the shoulders of “law enforcement” doing it’s dam job.

  521. Jeff G. says:

Yeah. She seems to target those who either don’t have access to her or else she believes will follow the law and take her abuse while the wheels of justice do very very little in their glacial turn.

For what it’s worth, I have a gun, but I wouldn’t use it against this bint. If she ever made the mistake of showing up here, I’d deal with her in a much more personal way.

  522. happyfeet says:

    titty twister!!!

  523. Benedick says:

Jeff, I haven’t been able to find a personal referral, but I am going to email you a link to a reputable plaintiffs’ firm that will do a free case evaluation.

What you’re looking at is, essentially, a claim of intentional infliction of emotional distress, which can carry a punitive damages award in Oregon (note: those are the magic words — punitive damages — that excite plaintiffs’ lawyers). You want to bring the parents in under a claim of negligent infliction of emotional distress (and possibly a general negligence claim as well). The IIED claim is as follows, under Oregon case law: “In order to state that claim, a plaintiff must plead that the defendant intended to inflict and caused severe emotional distress, and that the defendant’s acts were ‘an extraordinary transgression of the bounds of socially tolerable conduct.'” Whelan v. Albertson’s, 879 P.2d 888 (Ore. Ct. App. 1994). In addition, while Oregon has criminal statutes on harassment and telephone harassment, I haven’t been able to determine whether a civil cause of action arises from them. It’s possible there’s a common law claim — a local lawyer will know what claims are available.

  524. Sinner says:

Thanks happyfeet, now I have to poke out my minds eye with a rusty nail…

  525. Matt says:

She really likes the C word. What is it with ‘feminists” and the C word? Its like rappers and the N word.

Sorry this is happening Jeff. Honestly, I’d probably just ignore it but I know there’s stuff that occurred behind the scenes to make you take it more seriously. Either way, good luck.

  526. Sigivald says:

Re. upddate 14 and She claims, too, to have found someone to represent her in a case against me for harassing her:

That’s hilarious – because the number she gives is Jack’s (Thomas Grant, #431 above).

She’s crazy enough to have turned “attack me too, you crazy twat” into “this is my mediator who’s helping me for free!”

    Craaaazy.

  527. The Monster says:

Dunno what happened to the previous attempt, but I think ducktrapper might be a Moby.

  528. jwest says:

At least in the movies the maniacal female stalker is a Sharon Stone type. It must really suck to have this ugly cretin bothering you.

Although she deserves to prosecuted criminally, it’s hard to get the authorities excited enough to put together a case. Civil action against her is worthless, as she is broke and crazy.

I would concentrate on her internet/phone provider. They have money and I’m sure they want to hang on to it. Send them a registered letter providing the evidence that she is in violation of their boilerplate terms of service, with a demand that the provider cease service to her address by a certain (immediate) date. Tell them that if any further threatening messages are received through their service after the date you will instruct your attorneys to file actions to recover for emotional distress from all parties involved, including the provider, along with an action filed with the Oregon state regulatory authorities to prevent the provider from enabling threats from being transmitted using their facilities.

And next time, try to piss off someone who is reasonably good looking.

  529. ducktrapper says:

Well Monster, not sure what you’re talking about, I have lots of hair and don’t make crappy music but I am disgusted that something like this can go on and on. Sorry for venting my own frustrations. Good luck Jeff.

  530. Squid says:

Perhaps, though I’ll admit his thoughts and wishes aren’t far removed from my own. My latest daydream was that she got drunk and wandered out in traffic, where she was hit by some lobbyist chauffeur with Pete DeFazio taking bribes in the back seat.

I may need to switch to decaf soon.

  531. ducktrapper says:

No. Seriously. Call me dim but what’s a moby? Google had no answer. Am I being insulted by a Monster?

  532. cranky-d says:

Maybe if we got Joe Biden to vist Eugene. His motorcade is notorious for running people over.

That was what we call a “joke.” There should be no intent implied that I or anyone else advocates such an action or outcome.

  533. cranky-d says:

A moby in our case is someone who pretends to be on our side, but really is here to make us look bad. Often, they take things really over the top, wishing death on political opponents and the like. It’s named after the musician Moby, who advocated such practices.

  534. ducktrapper says:

Ah no, sorry for any confusion. Just a frustrated regular PW reader, infrequent commenter and fan of Jeff’s writing. I’ve had my own (much lesser) problems regarding telephone harrassment. However, calling for violence is not my normal response to most issues. This is over the freaking top though. In this instance, I take Jeff’s side (if there actually are two sides).

  535. happyfeet says:

Mr. trapper is staunch he been around for many moons

  536. Alec Leamas says:

Benedict / Alec / et al.

I think it’s time to conceive of putting together a civil suit in Oregon.

I’m a dreaded “Philadelphia Lawyer” and I don’t have any contacts out West. I’d suggest contacting a lawyer who handles defamation cases (accusing you of a crime is de facto defamatory) in Colorado for a consultation. I don’t think you need to bring your suit in Oregon.

  537. SarahW says:

Intentional infliction of emotional distress is generally not a stand-alone tort. I leave it to a lawyer in the appropriate jurisdiction to explain law in that jurisdiction, but in most places there will have to be an accompanying injury – another tort, or breach of statute with civil penalties/remedies. An exception might be documented physical/medical injury (having to go on tranquilizers, having a heart attack) resulting from the infliction of emotional distress.

  538. SarahW says:

There will also be no involuntary committment of Frisch unless she exhibits signs that she is a danger to herself or immediate threat to the physical safety of others, and even then little chance of long-term involuntary commitment. Her parent might pay for a voluntary commitment, but they won’t be obligated to pay for any treatment, and Oregon won’t want to pay for voluntary commitment either, and I seriously doubt she has any insurance that would be forced to pay.

She gets maybe two weeks, if that. Probably a 72 hour hold, for observation, and I doubt they would even pick her up unless she were waving a knife around or somesuch, wandering the streets, or hauled off a ledge, or called 911 to inform them she is considering killing herself then and there.

Writing abusive letters and making abusive phone-calls WILL NOT SUFFICE.

  539. Hadlowe says:

SarahW. In an earlier comment, I pointed out that Oregon has a statutory cause of action for stalking which includes IIED as a presumptive grounds for recovery, as well as statutory and punitive damages.

The main problem is finding attachable assets to merit a suit here. I have no knowledge of the circumstances of how she transferred her property to her parents, but the timing at least strikes me as fishy. Assuming the property transfer was made in an apparent effort to protect assets from potential judgment, that opens up her parents to civil conspiracy and fraud liability.

There’s also the handy matter that she was probably making these calls and using the internet on a phone line owned and paid for by her parents, subjecting them to criminal charges under the Oregon anti-harrassment statutes. Whether that could be tied into the civil stalking claim is another matter, but it should work to give them pause about enabling her antics.

  540. funnyhaha says:

Jeff, if you file a civil suit, definitely subpoena her financial records. That would give you very concrete info about who is funding what.

After reading a bit about Deb last night, I do think she has some personal income. She rents her 250 sq foot home on a nightly basis, and it appears, based on what she posted last night, that she tries to get private tutoring gigs. It is possible that she has some kind of income from work she can do telecommuting. Financial discovery would give you needed info about her financial sources and might even demonstrate that she is fraudulently collecting food stamps. She is required to report all financial sources to the state, and if she hasn’t, turning her in for fraud might feel good.

  541. High Sierra says:

    Jeff,

The latest screed likely bolsters your mother’s case against this twat in Maryland. I was doing a little poking around after seeing a story on the Westboro Church lawsuit. The reason it’s gone as far as it has is that Maryland has a uniquely victim-friendly “infliction of emotional distress” law, with threats via telephone included in a misdemeanor charge that could get you multiple years.

Here’s the statute below. Seems like your mom might need a volunteer (PWer?) who won’t take no for an answer–or a laywer, Anti-Defamation League volunteer, law student from a university law clinic, someone looking to do a good thing–to accompany her to the precinct and or Attorney General’s office. And ask to see the superior of anyone who blows her off. Take names and positions, recite “So your position is that you are not willing to enforce the law? Correct?” and then send follow up MOUs (memorandum of understanding) detailing that position and asking for written confirmation of the summary of their inaction. Send the MOUs in the form of emails, with hardcopy follow-up via USPS, to the individual and their superiors who blew your mom off. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, but it’s exhausting for your poor mother. And it’s a damn shame she has to go through this. I know Georgetown (my alma mater) and really all the DC area law schools have free law clinics where students and their advisors try to assist under-served populations. Local NGO’s attempt to assist those who fall within their constituency, whether it’s retired folks, religious or sexual discrimination, etc. But it takes lots of legwork. Your mom needs a compassionate, persistent, bright law student or paralegal to take up her case. If she’s a member of a religious group or senior center or something they may be able to help. Worst comes to worst she can consult one of the online legal referral services.

Anyway, from my understanding, here is the statute:
§ 3-804. Misuse of telephone facilities and equipment
    Prohibited
    (a) A person may not use telephone facilities or equipment to make:
    (1) an anonymous call that is reasonably expected to annoy, abuse, torment, harass, or embarrass another;
    (2) repeated calls with the intent to annoy, abuse, torment, harass, or embarrass another; or
    (3) a comment, request, suggestion, or proposal that is obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or indecent.
    Penalty
    (b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 3 years or a fine not exceeding $500 or both.

*reading point 3) above, that may be the source of the comment that multiple calls have to be made to constitute harassment–however, that ignores the existence of point 1). Which was so important it was listed FIRST.

Also, maybe this is old history, but did you personally ever get an injunction against her running a blog with menacing, harassing, threatening, and defamatory content about you and your family–especially since she’s been instructed to stay off the net and leave you guys alone? An injunction is different from a PPO or TRO. It’s my understanding you can go to the courthouse and they will help you with paperwork to file an injunction. Then it has to go to a judge. Obviously, it’s better to have an attorney walk you through this whole process. But if you’re trying to save money, there are a LOT of websites with legal forum/blog details on this. On that comes to mind is this one: http://forum.freeadvice.com/

Obviously, free advice on the web can’t form the basis of your strategy, but maybe it will help cut a few steps? Also, there are many victim’s rights websites dedicated to helping stalking victims achieve justice. I can post a few from my research.

I hope some of this helps. And the good wishes and indignation of all decent folks reading your blog. If you need help with research, I imagine many here are good with the google and rolodex. I’ve got some time today–it’s the least I can do after 4+ years of weekly belly laughs and clear-minded political posts. I’m sure I’m not the only one willing to kick in some time and $ toward the legal fund.

  542. SarahW says:

Hadlowe, I don’t think the property transfer would be consider “hiding” if it happened prior to any lawsuit, certainly not if it happened before the event potentially creating Frisch liability. Since Frisch has no apparent means of support, purchase of her house could arguably been done to secure her with money to live upon; parents can gift her money without tax consequences as well and they can do it in kind (in “rent” or income from the property, or allow her a fee for “maintaining” the property as landlord. I’m not privy to the details of the title transfer, but they did not necessarily pay her in a lump, either… they might pay regularly on a note.

In any case income from the sale that Frisch still has is attachable, or income she might receive. I’m thinking it more likely they took the title so they could borrow money to pay for her lawyer, actually.

I do not see any viable cause of action against the parents unless they are right now, as this is in progress, paying for her DSL with full knowledge of what she is doing. and even then I don’t think a jury would hold them responsible.

Does she really even have DSL? I think she might be using public wifi or a library.

  543. Blake says:

Whatever happened to crazy people wandering off into the wild, where they are only encountered by the occasional hiker?

    That sentence is unfinishable.

  548. happyfeet says:

    bread bowls confuzzle me

  549. Hadlowe says:

Like I said, I have no knowledge of how the transfer took place. Largenfirm mentioned above that she transferred property in 2009, which would be well after all of this tortious conduct was well known, meaning that they should have been aware of possible liability. At the very least, a quick records search would reveal the status of the property, the date of transfer, and any other liens that were in place before or arose after the transfer.

Anybody in the Lane County area with an hour to spare and a couple of bucks for copies?

  550. High Sierra says:

Some names and numbers of relevant federal statutes, with links to full text of the laws, can be found here:
    http://wiredsafety.org/cyberstalking_harassment//us_federalstalkinglaw.html

Here’s something on the interstate laws, point 4 being particularly relevant:
    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/875.html

Relevant statute # with respect to obscene or harassing interstate telephone calls:
    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/47/223.html

Finally, it costs about $40-50 to have an online, real-time initial consultation with a licensed attorney. This is not a retainer or anything, it is for a low- to medium-level of detail consult, including back and forth questions via chat or email. It may be worth the 2 $20s to do so, and I’d be happy to hit your paypal to pay for that–but only if you think it would be helpful. The victim or plaintiff has to be the one doing the consult, otherwise its usefulness is limited.

You could use a service like justanswer dot com or even lawyer dot com to do this, and just drill down to the level of detail and regional presence (CO, OR, or federal) that you need. Justanswer seems to be one of the bigger online legal consulting firms, but I know nothing of their expertise or helpfulness. They supposedly have a 100% satisfaction guarantee–you pay if you are satisfied with their response. I just can’t vouch for them, but desperate times and all that…..

Clearly your best option is to get a personal referral to a competent attorney, but it’s so expensive. I’m dealing with a lawyer now on a civil law case, and it costs $2500 retainer to get them to talk to you, and they bill $350/hr, with 7.5 minute minimum billing periods. To get him to read and reply to an email costs $75–and that’s if no further research is required! Not sure if you want to go this path, but it may be the only way to get results in our convoluted, lawyer-driven legal system. Otherwise, you will have to spend a lot of time banging your head on the various walls the system puts up (walls the lawyers know to avoid). That has an opportunity cost associated with it, and you may well decide that your time and sanity have real value as well, and that you can’t afford *not* to get a lawyer. It’s your call.

    Take care.

    H

  551. Jeff G says:

So what Sarah is saying is that nothing at all can be done, no one can be held responsible, and no one can have Frisch incarcerated or committed until she harms someone (well, harms someone MORE, given that she’s been convicted of assault).

Okay. Then you are all witnesses. There’s really nothing to do but take matter into my own hands, right? Because no one else cares enough to stop her?

    Just checking.

  552. Jeff G says:

The law provides no relief. And yet relief is required. So.

  553. Alec Leamas says:

Hadlowe, I don’t think the property transfer would be consider “hiding” if it happened prior to any lawsuit, certainly not if it happened before the event potentially creating Frisch liability.

I don’t know if Oregon is one, but many jurisdictions have a “fraudulent transfer” statute that lists behavior which would allow a creditor to “avoid” the transfer. Transfer of an asset for less than fair market value when it is likely that one will be sued is textbook fraudulent transfer. Essentially you sue the defendant first, conduct discovery in aid of execution, then sue the transferees seeking to have the transfer voided and property attached.

  554. Squid says:

Time and place, Tramp. This ain’t it.

  555. DarthRove says:

ST, the grownups are talking. Go play in traffic or something, mkay?

  556. Jeff G. says:

Email me privately, Sinister Trampoline. I’ll let you know where I live. I want to meet you in person.

    Thanks. Let’s set something up.

  557. Jeff G. says:

Alternately, if you’re too much of a pussy to meet me, don’t bother posting here.

That’s why you hide behind proxies and numerous posting IDs, after all, right? Because your barbs aren’t something you’d ever have the balls to say in person?

    Of course it is.

  558. Jeff G. says:

    You’re a fucking coward.

But unlike Frisch, you hide behind proxies and multiple posting identities.

How’s that feel, ST? How’s it feel to be one step lower on the evolutionary scale of cowards than a useless waste of skin and gore like Deb Frisch?

  559. SarahW says:

It’s a travesty she can’t be locked up for an indefinite period for her uncontrolled illness and the misery she causes others.

The most practical, durable solution THIS MOMENT would be to facilitate whatever short term incarceration can be imposed for for her current parole violation, which MIGHT put her in the way of mental health services (and might not.)

Once she has this history of being incarcerated, repeat incarceration is easier to get for any misdemeanors she commits.

    Report each and every single violation of law , and if she threatens suicide in a pubic forum, alert local authorities; if she raises the threat level to where there is a present danger of her harming someone, call 911;

If this behaviour persists, and your mom can afford it, get a new phone line without ending the old, record calls coming into the old line.

Sue and demand the *specific relief* of her website’s removal in addition to any damages.

  560. SarahW says:

But Alec, the consideration exhanged for the house may have been a: market value b: related to the history of its purchase or payments or other considerations given in the past, or previous debts. If it was to avoid being sued by one of her victims, that’s one thing – if it was to pay for her living expenses and attorney fees…. well, I don’t think it’s going to be viewed as an evasion, especially since that particular tortfeasor never sued. Jeff would have no claim to her avoiding HIS lawsuit by unfair transfer, and if that other tortfeasor did, their claim would have precedence, and they have to make it first.

  561. Alec Leamas says:

We’re putting the cart before the horse anyhow. The Oregon statute – to the extent that one exists – will tell.

  562. SarahW says:

On the other hand, if there is a reasonable, lawful basis for ANY claim against the parents, go for it, even if winning isn’t assured or recovery is likely to be de minimis. That’s because they shouldn’t get a break; not if they are actually aware of the improper things she is doing and *actively helping* her hurt other people by providing her access to phone/computer lines to do it.

  563. Jeff G. says:

Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but given my blog was named using a phrase I came up with in a different context and liked …

Kimmie and Randy, damn I miss y’all, sure wish y’all didn’t live some far away. I suppose V-Town isn’t very far away, and I’ll be visiting there more since Ashton is living there.

Just to let everyone in on a little secret, after the wedding of Kimmie and Randy, I ‘injured’ a ‘private part’ on a sinister trampoline that required medical attention, an ‘ultasound’ of all things. Can you say most embarassing moment of my life? Thanks a lot Kimmie and Randy, there’s nothing like a butchy nurse….well I’ll stop there.

Lookin’ to chill with y’all soon, ice down the Michelob, I’ll be ready!

    Hope that’s not you, ST.

  564. Jeff G. says:

  571. Jeff G. says:

Appears real, sdferr. Not that it matters. I’m sure Andrea isn’t aware of all of Frisch’s transgressions, is all — and that the moment Debbie called her and began referring to her as being hatched from a snatch, reality would start to set in.

Would someone call the elected official Andrea by the name “Dre” in his/her initial contact? Doubtful.

Now, if someone were trying to refer to herself in the third person, she would probably use the name by which she self-identifies….Deb.

  581. Benedick says:

  582. High Sierra says:

    Potentially relevant Oregon statute:

166.065 Harassment. (1) A person commits the crime of harassment if the person intentionally:
    (a) Harasses or annoys another person by:
    (A) Subjecting such other person to offensive physical contact; or
    (B) Publicly insulting such other person by abusive words or gestures in a manner intended and likely to provoke a violent response;
    (b) Subjects another to alarm by conveying a false report, known by the conveyor to be false, concerning death or serious physical injury to a person, which report reasonably would be expected to cause alarm; or
    (c) Subjects another to alarm by conveying a telephonic, electronic or written threat to inflict serious physical injury on that person or to commit a felony involving the person or property of that person or any member of that person’s family, which threat reasonably would be expected to cause alarm.
(2)(a) A person is criminally liable for harassment if the person knowingly permits any telephone or electronic device under the person’s control to be used in violation of subsection (1) of this section.
    (b) Harassment that is committed under the circumstances described in subsection (1)(c) of this section is committed in either the county in which the communication originated or the county in which the communication was received.
    (3) Harassment is a Class B misdemeanor.
    (4) Notwithstanding subsection (3) of this section, harassment is a Class A misdemeanor if a person violates:
    (a) Subsection (1)(a)(A) of this section by subjecting another person to offensive physical contact and the offensive physical contact consists of touching the sexual or other intimate parts of the other person; or
    (b) Subsection (1)(c) of this section and:
    (A) The person has a previous conviction under subsection (1)(c) of this section and the victim of the current offense was the victim or a member of the family of the victim of the previous offense;
    (B) At the time the offense was committed, the victim was protected by a stalking protective order, a restraining order as defined in ORS 24.190 or any other court order prohibiting the person from contacting the victim;
    (C) At the time the offense was committed, the person reasonably believed the victim to be under 18 years of age and more than three years younger than the person; or
    (D)(i) The person conveyed a threat to kill the other person or any member of the family of the other person;
(ii) The person expressed the intent to carry out the threat; and
(iii) A reasonable person would believe that the threat was likely to be followed by action.
    (5) As used in this section, “electronic threat” means a threat conveyed by electronic mail, the Internet, a telephone text message or any other transmission of information by wire, radio, optical cable, cellular system, electromagnetic system or other similar means. Ducktrapper, I understand the feeling. It appears that you aren’t a Moby.

What set off my Moby detector was the combination of the desire that her own family drown her and the last sentence:

Best wishes for a final solution Jeff.

Advocating someone’s death and using the phrase “final solution” together is bad enough, but when talking to someone named “Goldstein” is nearly Hell’n-Thomas-level assholery.

  586. I think that’s one of those phrases that can wander in when we’re tired and not thinking–it can pop out when we mean “an end to all this” and don’t have mass murder (or murder at all) on the mind. One of those phrases that should have an innocent meaning, but is, instead, a bit of quicksand.

Like–oh, I don’t know. Like discussing slavery during the Roman era with an African-American friend, without recalling that a larger meaning to that word and concept may loom in his/her mind.

Anyone can have an ashistorical moment now and then.

  587. Also, I’m not good at the “who’s Jewish and who’s isn’t” dealio, but I had the impression that Deb was also Jewish, and that was one of the ironies here: that she’s a heavy-set woman who likes to call other women “fat,” that she’s a lesbian who likes to insinuate that other ladies are “carpet-munchers,” that she’s got the handicap of a mental disease but likes to pick on the disabled. And I had *thought* that she was of Jewish extraction, but was still baiting Jeff on his own heritage.

I think anyone on this thread would like to see her safe somewhere and taking the appropriate medication, but still stopped in some way. Not a vengeance thing, but rather about protecting the innocent.

He does have the ol’ Army of Davids at his fingertips, after all.

And best of luck to you through this, Jeff. This situation takes my breath away and makes me exhale fire at the same time.

Funnyhaha, what would satisfy your conditions? My revealing personal details about my family? And how could you possibly verify those details? No, in spite of your negative, and Debophobic comments, I will not accept your obvious racism. As an Hispanic woman I acknowledge the academic contributions that Ms. Frisch has made to higher level education and recognize her pedagogical accomplishments. She is a welcome member of our diverse academic community whose contributions are recognized by all right thinking people. You are indeed a racist.

It is my understanding that Deb is Jewish. She and I were once in the same social circle. We have met, but she wouldn’t likely remember me. THANK GOD.

Deb is a pariah in Eugene. She is banned from most public bars, schools, colleges, sporting events, public meetings, etc. Anyone in gov, public safety or higher education knows of Deb and wishes they didn’t.

Deb has scrubbed some posts from her site tonight. I have screen caps that I will email to you tonight or tomorrow, Jeff. I am so sick of this woman. My city has no money and she is a leech on the system and worst of all, a danger to anyone in public safety, the media, higher ed, k-12 kids, and those she has victimized in the past.

It is possible that Deb has ramped up the crazy because she knows she will be jailed soon. I am hoping that the Judge requires her to give up her computer as part of her sentence, and as part of her parole, forbids her from internet usage. Since Deb has no friends, and is banned from the University, she would have a hard time finding internet access. I don’t know if she is banned from the public library. It isn’t easy to get internet access for long at our public library because of heavy use. She can’t afford to rent time online at Kinkos, and there aren’t many cyber cafes with actual computers. If Deb were to surrender her computer, it would make her cyber harassment much, much more difficult.

I bet that Deb goes to local coffee shops to use high speed internet. It would be hard for her to get high speed out where she lives, and it is expensive to get internet service out in her area. She is barely in the city limits.

I want to know how Deb pays her property taxes. Guess Mommy and Daddy have a large bank acct.

  602. funnyhaha says:

This: “Since Deb has no friends, and is banned from the University, she would have a hard time finding internet access.”

The eyes and lips reflect the fury that’s inside, and turned inside, never to be visited on anyone but the owner.

I’m mildly surprised she isn’t in jail. I am more surprised she hasn’t been institutionalized.

She is obviously unstable–if her family truly cared about her, they would have her hospitalized and given intense therapy. 618. SarahW says:

She hasn’t been “institutionalized” because there are no institutions for the mentally ill, anymore, for long-term indefinite or life-time stays, outside of those that have intersected with the criminal justice system. The “institution” that will keep her will be jail, the nation’s proxy mental health care system.

Not all mental illness manifests in the horror show (for others) that is DF, but it’s fairly typical for them to be cast off because they are unpleasant, scary people who cause stress and disruption and they don’t get better, and the actions seem very willful.

As vile as she is, and as much misery as she causes, she is not capable of reforming and her actions are the result of impulses she can not be expected to have any insight into, let alone contain; You’ve all seen that appeals to reason and self-interest have no effect, even when her liberty is on the line, because she can’t reason and her outlook on the danger and harm she faces from others is so distorted.

Some have tried to guess her major malfunction, but without speculating farther I am sure it is organic and exacerbated by alcoholism.

What are you going to do with people like that? If this were a sane world, she could be put away, and not let out unless her illness were controlled, and her being put away would be a public enterprise, not something dependent on insurance through work, or parents of adult children, or friends and family she has alienated, or her committing a crime.

  619. Jeff G. says:

As vile as she is, and as much misery as she causes, she is not capable of reforming and her actions are the result of impulses she can not be expected to have any insight into, let alone contain; You’ve all seen that appeals to reason and self-interest have no effect, even when her liberty is on the line, because she can’t reason and her outlook on the danger and harm she faces from others is so distorted.

Yes, the poor dear. She’s the real victim here.

    Let’s pity her.

What a load of shit: she’s quite capable of reforming her actions. She doesn’t want to. She realizes that, through her own actions (and the narcissism she brought to bare in defending those actions) she’s shit her life away and has nothing left to lose. Let’s not confuse that kind of freedom — the kind that comes from resignation — with a mental illness.

Frisch had the free will. She just didn’t use it properly. That doesn’t mark her as a victim; it marks her as an idiot.

The alcohol is merely to dull the pain of self-reflection.

That’s nail-on-the-head stuff right there, and not just for this particular wasted sliver of humanity. I’d expand that to include whatever other drugs might be abused for the purpose of dulling reality. This evil bitch just can’t keep her pain to herself; she’s outreaching and sharing.

Needs to find the OFF switch, she does. Or society needs to take away her capacity to share her broken reality.

  623. sdferr says:

    Society blah blah blah blah

If there are needs here, it seems to me that Jeff and a growing number of other individuals directly attacked by this woman or associated to her — as her relatives are — find themselves with needs in regards to her. If, from this collection of individuals, a society of interest should emerge, then that society may have motive to do something about her actions. The rest of the society round about will then have needs in regards to them, and only secondarily in regards to Frisch. Otherwise, flipping out a “society” card looks to me like nothing but handwaving leftist pablum snuck in by the back door.

Jeff, she’s not a victim like you are. She’s still sick. She’s still – what she is, a bit of a mad dog. What are you going to do with a dog like that?

It’s a travesty she can’t be put away for any length of time, until she commits a crime. What is humane about letting her roam free?

  626. SarahW says:

And I can’t make this point more forcefully. NO. SHE IS NOT capable of reforming, not without external oversight of her condition, and “not wanting to be nice” or decent to others, can not be separated from her thought disorder, her tics, her obsessions, her mania. She is damaged, damaged goods. THIS IS REALITY. That is mental illness.

  627. Silver Whistle says:

Thank you, thesixthmoon. We are truly two countries separated by a common language.

  628. serr8d says:

Society sets the rules, sdferr. That’s a reality we can’t change unless we work within the very rules set in place by…society, which is defined as the law.

To act outside the boundaries set by society, as we’d all prefer to do in this case, isn’t so acting ‘rightist’ vs. ‘leftist’ as it is acting with the ‘law’ vs. without, ‘anarchy’. We can compel those in charge in Eugene to act, but it has to be within the legal framework, the availability of #4 buckshot notwithstanding.

  629. SarahW says:

You seem to be mistaking the idea that mental illness should be controlled and treated by force of law, on the state’s dime, with the idea that she shouldn’t face what punishment or control is avalable.

Jeff and her long trail of targets, which FWIW, include MY relatives, however, aren’t served well by those options, they are inadequate. She should be placed somewhere. There is, however, no where to place her. It seems to me that ought to change.

  630. Jeff G. says:

It’s a travesty she can’t be put away for any length of time, until she commits a crime. What is humane about letting her roam free?

    This I agree with.

And I can’t make this point more forcefully. NO. SHE IS NOT capable of reforming, not without external oversight of her condition, and “not wanting to be nice” or decent to others, can not be separated from her thought disorder, her tics, her obsessions, her mania.

    This I don’t.

She can reform simply by accepting responsibility for what she has done to herself. At which point she can stop lashing out at those who have intruded on her self-image as the smartest person in any room, and try to regain some semblance of dignity.

Her NOT reforming is not an illness. It’s narcissism, stubborn obtuseness, and the freedom that’s spoken of in “Me and Bobby McGee”: just another word for nothing left to lose.

  631. sdferr says:

Individuals act (together) to make society or societies. Societies emerge — they wax and wane, come and go, with varying interests over time. Societies do not have needs on the order of the needs of individuals like Jeff and the others attacked by Frisch on the one hand or looney Frisch herself on the other. Individual human beings are the only agents capable of so needing or acting. Second order agencies like societies, to whatever extent such beings have needs or pretended needs won’t find those needs precisely congruent with the particulars of this case, unless they should be made up of individuals as described here with those particular needs in common. They will not, in other words, get anyone where they wish to go, nor where their needs would take them, without the motivations of the individuals concerned. So we see, for instance, how well Frisch has been dealt with thus far (so thoroughly!) by the sets of rules governing at large abroad. Or shittily, so to speak. What’s that old saw again? Want something done well? Then do it yourself.

  632. serr8d says:

Oh, my. Vigilantism is NOT the answer. It’s a solution, maybe, but it’s not one I’d condone. Because such a solution has ramifications that are decidedly worse than the problem.

Let’s see what happens on the 25th. I’m predicting a major change in her circumstances, and some relief for Jeff.

Maybe she’ll be confined to a cell, the turnkey walks away; she strikes up a conversation with any cellmate. Bloody pulp ensues.

  633. sdferr says:

Don’t be a moron serr8d. I’m not talking about vigilantism, only you are, projecty-wise.

  634. ducktrapper says:

My warning from earlier might should be repeated. Any physical action against Fritch will be taken much more seriously than any thing she has done so far. Her family needs to step in and you need a break from this insanity. Sleep. Again good luck, Jeff.

  635. serr8d says:

Want something done well? Then do it yourself.

And you don’t need to be seen running parallel to a dickhead, sdferr. The coalescence of victims you’ve described @217 exists already, only not meeting with an agenda and keeping the minutes, sure, but you can bet they are all independently giving what support they can to a favorable outcome. Heh. I’d warrant that the entire judicial system of Eugene, Oregon, would be forced to recuse because of ‘membership’ in this group.

This next step, Oct. 25, escalates the process using the existing legal procedure. What more can we do?

  636. sdferr says:

  637. SteveG says:

The “society of interest” in the first is the “we” in the second. The “motive to do something “ and the “rest of the society round about will then have needs “ is the “We can compel”. The buckshot, guns, and an axe were brought up by others.

Deb always brings out the best in all who have even the slightest contact with her. It’s her gift.

  643. I do not know whether Deb’s imbalance would be helped by medication. I do know that a lot of people who require medication to rebalance their brains choose not to take them, because part of some mental illnesses is a tendancy to reject meds, or a persistant illusion that one doesn’t need them, or doesn’t need them any more.

I do think that having large numbers of dangerous people–largely homeless and living on the street–is one of the “unintended consequences” of deinstitutionalization. There should be provisions in our society to force people to take their meds, and to lock up the ones who won’t take ’em, or who cannot be helped via medication.

The argument about whether Deb is doing this voluntarily is academic, since none of us has a clinical or therapeutic relationship with her, and none are in a position to evaluate her. (Also, few of us have the appropriate background to do it.)

But I DO know that the status quo, in which people can decline treatment and can rarely be cared for against their will, is not working.

  644. Jeff G. says:

Well, her condition is quite extraordinary, inasmuch as it is able to filter out for the purposes of her attacks those who she’s been informed live nearby and have armed themselves, and who have received convictions against her.

    Amazing disease, this.

Incidentally, Frisch wrote that my sister contacted her. This isn’t the case. Because trust me, if my sister had Frisch’s number, you would all have it, as well.

My sister doesn’t even know Frisch’s name.

  645. geoffb says:

I wonder if she is in the OFA database which seems to hand out info to all and sundry?

  646. But she went after me, albeit briefly. And, trust me: as a long-distance driver, I could get to Eugene within a day. And I am armed to the teeth.

She appears to go after some locals, but it could be that private citizens who are well-armed aren’t on that list.

I don’t think she’s unintelligent. And I get what you’re saying–that some of what she’s doing is informed by what’s left of her survival instinct and desire for liberty. But just as she eventually lost her job by acting out, she may eventually lose her life or her liberty.

  647. Big Bang Hunter says:

    – I concur on her “selective” targeting. I’m pretty sure my mention the other day that I’m just a ten minute drive from her parents rattled her cage a bit.

    – And there are numerous other signs she’s not as crazed as she lets on. Remember, she is a doctorate in psychology, so it could be an admixture of mental issues coupled with interpersonal stress tactics she’d be well versed in. Cunning is often an aspect of the savant mentality.

    – All of which does nothing to improve dealing with her or her unpredictable behavior. She could be just manic (the video’s of her at town hall meetings show a clear tendency to uncontrolled physical movement, a general indication of manic obsessiveness) and trying to stay engaged, terrified of isolation, but when it’s your families safety that’s at stake you can’t afford to guess.

  648. I could get to her parents’ place in a couple of hours. And Darleen could get there, I suspect, rather quickly. She’s only a couple of counties away, and one of ’em ain’t the mega-county of L.A.

  649. funnyhaha says:

“She can reform simply by accepting responsibility for what she has done to herself. At which point she can stop lashing out at those who have intruded on her self-image as the smartest person in any room, and try to regain some semblance of dignity.

Her NOT reforming is not an illness. It’s narcissism, stubborn obtuseness, and the freedom that’s spoken of in “Me and Bobby McGee”: just another word for nothing left to lose.”

IMO, Deb’s most damning choice is her refusal to get treatment. Just this week she went off against a local forensic psychiatrist who does evaluations for the legal system in Eugene. I don’t know why Deb did that; since this doc is a court specialist, I suspect she is involved in the county’s legal actions against Deb. Speculation on my part.

Deb is mentally ill. And some who are mentally ill are unable to either comply with medical treatment or unable to see the severity of their illness. Unfortunately, Deb doesn’t neatly fit into any category. Which makes this process so much harder for her victims.

Deb KNOWS she is mentally ill; she just disagrees with the labels and categories. But her narcissism tells her that she is smarter than all those who have diagnosed her. Her narcissism tells her that her friends and family are all wrong about her need for mental health treatment. Her narcissism allows her to view her behavior as reasonable. If Deb were WILLING to treat her mental illness, she wouldn’t be acting out with this severity (and possibly not at all). But she blatantly REFUSES to comply with psychiatric treatment.

Deb self-medicates her mood issues with alcohol. Which simply makes her sicker, more volatile and more dangerous.

No one chooses to be mentally ill. But Deb isn’t so mentally ill that she can’t make a conscious and educated decision about getting help. Deb IS responsible for her behavior because she makes a conscious choice to NOT get the treatment that she has been offered. Deb delights in causing others pain and in being a massive pain in the ass, which are traits consistent with Anti-social Personality Disorder (aka sociopaths). Deb could be better of she wanted to be. She has convinced herself that she is better off without treatment. It will be interesting to see of she changes her mind after serving a few weeks in jail. A few days won’t do it. She MUST serve a good 2-4 weeks for her to get the message.

“Her family should be responsible for her care.

They want to give her a little $$ to keep going… and that seems to be going smashingly. For society.
Her family should remodel the house with some hefty doors and locks. They should administer her meds, since she is incapable.

It is inexcusable for economically able families to foist the care of this vile insanity on the public.”

I absolutely agree that Deb’s family needs to stop financing her life. I believe that as long as they give her money, they are complicit in her crimes as accessories.

Unfortunately, they cannot legally force her to be committed, to seek psychiatric help or to take medication. Legally, they have no right to get her to do anything. While it is great to fantasize that they could lock her up in their house and force her to take meds, they would be committing criminal acts if they did so (kidnapping is only one crime they could be accused of committing if they did lock her up and drug her).

This is the rabbit hole of the mental health/legal systems. Until Deb physically harms someone or violates probation, she doesn’t have to do anything and no one can force her to be medicated. Deb understands the line she can walk quite well. It is only when she is drunk that she crosses “legal” lines in a manner that law enforcement can take charge of her (noting the limited resources in the Eugene community to enforce harassment laws when physical violence hasn’t occurred in that specific incident). I need to read up to see if she can be forced to medicate while in jail. I don’t think she can be forced to take meds in jail.

“I do not know whether Deb’s imbalance would be helped by medication. I do know that a lot of people who require medication to rebalance their brains choose not to take them, because part of some mental illnesses is a tendancy to reject meds, or a persistant illusion that one doesn’t need them, or doesn’t need them any more.”

Actually, the majority of those with mental illness comply with treatment. Those with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia have the most difficulty complying with their meds and therapy. That non-compliance occurs for several reasons; the distorted thinking that comes with certain mental illnesses, lack of resources to afford refills of meds (meds for mental illness are some of the most expensive on the market), side-effects or difficulty finding the correct drug. There is also a shortage of psychiatrist in some states. New Mexico has a severe shortage of psychiatrists in rural areas.

Meds don’t always work. Prescribing meds for those with moderate to severe mental illness is complicated, and some meds have side-effects that are impossible for many to live with. It can take several trials of medication to find the right drug that keeps a patient’s symptoms managed while not harming them physically (i.e. liver toxicity). And sometimes drugs stop working or the dose needs to be adjusted, but until the patient acts out, no one knows to alter the dose or change the medication (in patients that are not good at tracking their symptoms or have symptoms that change rapidly).

“I do think that having large numbers of dangerous people–largely homeless and living on the street–is one of the “unintended consequences” of deinstitutionalization. There should be provisions in our society to force people to take their meds, and to lock up the ones who won’t take ‘em, or who cannot be helped via medication.

I agree the deinstitutionalization led to many, many, many problems with mental illness. A large percentage of homeless Americans are mentally ill. Statistics show that the mentally ill are LESS likely to commit acts of violence than the general, non-mentally ill population. The only exception to that is patients with a specific type of schizophrenia who have command hallucinations. MOST mentally ill people are not a threat to others.

Unfortunately, Deb is both mentally ill and a threat to others. But Deb isn’t your average mentally ill person.

One doesn’t lose their Constitutional rights when they become mentally ill. I can guarantee that you work and interact with mentally ill but stable people everyday.

“The argument about whether Deb is doing this voluntarily is academic, since none of us has a clinical or therapeutic relationship with her, and none are in a position to evaluate her. (Also, few of us have the appropriate background to do it.)”

True. I know Deb (a little and this was a while ago) and have worked in the same institution as she has. I was a student at UO when she taught there, and am friends with some her her victims and know some of her old friends who have had to leave her because of her behavior. This is NOT an academic experiment that Deb is engaging in. While her degree is in psychology, it is actually in cognition and decision making; she is a researcher, not a clinician. Deb has no respect for the clinical aspects of psychology, and to my knowledge, she has very little background or education in abnormal psych and the treatment of mental illness. Her graduate degree wouldn’t have required her to take any clinical classes. My guess, which is a guess, is that Deb took 1 class in abnormal psych as an undergrad. Psych is a vast science. 1/2 of all psychologists don’t work in mental health at all (although some of the 1/2 who don’t work in mental health research mental illness). There are 2 classes of psychologists. Those who are mental health and those who research normal, human behavior and mental processes. Deb fits in the latter category.

“But I DO know that the status quo, in which people can decline treatment and can rarely be cared for against their will, is not working.”

I agree 1000%. Those of us who are more interested in mental health and abnormal psych are at a loss of what to do with patients/clients like Deb. How do we protect the general population while also protecting each person’s Constitutional rights? What should happen and what the law can do are often separate issues. Which SUCKS when you are the victim of someone like Deb.

Until we fund law enforcement adequately, those like Deb will get away with violating probation, violating restraining orders and with criminal harassment. If we can’t afford to jail those like Deb, what can we do? And that is exactly where my community is. We have fucking sex offenders free on bond! So those like Deb get away with a lot before the legal system can deal with them. Until people in my community vote to pay even a tiny bit more in taxes for public safety, these situations will continue. And that comes at a huge price for folks like Jeff and his entire family.

  650. Just to be clear, I do not believe that most mentally ill people are dangerous. I do agree that most people who need medication (whom it actually helps, and who have access to it) do take their meds. I know some, too. I know sweet people who have suffered a lot and cope with grace and courage (e.g., I have a friend who hears “voices,” off and on).

But I do worry that our concern about people’s rights has, in some cases, turned into “you have a right to be miserable and wretched.” I don’t know where one draws that line. In the case of Deb, the criminality makes it easy (pleasant, even) to see jail as a reasonable solution.

Yet that in turn reminds me that there are people on the street who shouldn’t be, and who aren’t assholes. I’m not unduly concerned about Frisch’s well-being, but her situation reminds me that there are a lot of people out there who are suffering, and not hurting anyone, and the system is broken.

I suspect that when I watch Criminal Minds and see Jane Lynch as Dr. Reid’s mother–locked up in a sanitarium with walnut paneling and lots of books, eating well, with a couch in her private bedroom–I’m not seeing the reality of mental illness in this country. Or at least that the scenario I’m seeing rests on plenty of money and an unusual willingness, among those with paranoid schizophrenia, to comply with meds.

This situation reminds me that WRT mental illness in this country we seem to have jumped “out of the frying pan and into the deep blue sea.”

Oh wow, and WOW! I am so sorry you are at the receiving end of this, Jeff.

I have been through this, via my ex’s brother. The restraining orders, the blogs, the calls, the emails, the legal system…. It is indeed a lot to deal with. But the worst part is seeing people you love so hurt by these public words.

He was/is extremely like Deb. Random off and on targets who are favorites but locals and gov’t get it the worst. Horrible blog posts written/removed/re-written/ new target, etc. All of it. We did have success getting his email accounts and phone # disconnected. The phone was the easiest, as he was making about 75 calls an hour and leaving the sort of vile messages you have described. And his email accounts were approaching spam levels. The problem was, it is extremely easy to set up another email account, and 2 good days of collecting cans and he has yet another disposable cell phone. There is no good solution there, but after enough, you just don’t even bother reading or listening to the entire message. Delete and blocking is your best friend. And he had no internet access at home, and we never know exactly where he gets it.

Law enforcement would love to shut these people up, but there hands are somewhat tied. There are a limited amount of resources and people making vile, obscene comments on the internet are way too common. There are more restraining orders out there than you can imagine.

We had 11 months of peace when he finally got into a psych halfway house, where his meds were carefully controlled and his time was extremely structured. Sadly, it was shut down due to funding. The only way he will get help and society will be protected now is thru the process of him getting arrested. However, his crimes do not merit long sentences.

I haven’t read all of the comments here, but I have seen a few that seem to blame her family. I suspect her family is going thru their own special hell. She may not mention them on her blog, but it would common if she reserves the worst for them. It may not be public, but that doesn’t mean it’s better. There is very little they can do. I have seen the process of emergency psych holds multiple times. The truth is if the facility does not believe she is going to physically harm someone or herself, there is no way they can hold her.

Jeff, I know how gut wrenching it is, but I hope you can focus on your peace of mind, as opposed to seeing that Deb is punished. Not that she shouldn’t be punished, but it is more important for you and your family to be healthy. Don’t be dragged into her insanity.

We had lots of therapy sessions with a counselor that was recommended by the PD. It did us a world of good. And it was also free. Maybe you could ask a LE about this?

I wish you and your family well. Sometimes all you can do is breathe deep and exhale slowly, but sometimes that could save your sanity!

  652. Oh, and I get that whatever the problems are with the mental health system, LE is the fallback for those who are violent and malicious–and it appears that LE is so obscenely underfunded in Lane County that it can’t perform that function correctly.

The bike paths in Eugene are indeed lovely to behold–but it they represent a lack of attention to public safety . . . that can’t represent a reasonable tradeoff WRT public funds.

  653. Name (required) says:

    Little Miss Atilla..

I can’t discern if your comment about LE and mental health is sarcastic or serious.

But I have quite a bit of personal (and horrifying and very painful) experience dealing with this issue. It is a nightmare. I have been on the receiving end of exactly what Jeff is experiencing, and I have had also a much closer relative with serious mental illness draw me into the madness. To put a light hearted spin on it, it sucks. It is truly a nightmare.

But I have a really hard time relating to those people who think it’s a fairly shut and dry case for LE and our legal system and there is a clear and simple legal process to follow. They have no idea.

  654. NukemHill says:

    Jeff,

I’m only a few miles from Levinson’s. If you want me to take care of anything that needs to be handled in-person, just let me know. Or if you need anyone to run interference for your family. I’d be more than happy to lend you a hand. This is beyond fucked-up, and you deserve all the help you can get.

    Anything. Really.

Contact me privately if you need.

  655. Name,

“I can’t discern if your comment about LE and mental health is sarcastic or serious.”

What struck you as “sarcastic,” or, worse yet, “light-hearted”? Have you seen the filth that she’s put up about me?

Have you been following what she’s done to Jeff’s family for over four years? WTF?

I’m looking at this, and thnking about what it says about our larger system–or, rather, non-system–for dealing with mental illness, and it seems to me that there are larger implications, beyond the Jeff tragedy. It’s a tragedy that has to be playing out elsewhere, with other people, in other lives and in other ways.

What on earth, in the context of this discussion, struck you as light-hearted about any of the things I’ve said?

This discussion is deadly serious, and Jeff’s situation is simply awful.

  656. If you need more context, read through the thread paying special attention to the remarks by “FunnyHaha,” who has lent us some insight into 1) LE in Lane County, and its severe financial woes, 2) Frisch’s social circle, and 3) her potential pathologies, which he/she has given us to believe are not typical of the most common failures in our mental health system (thank goodness).

But of course as we can see, it happens.

  657. funnyhaha says:

Little Miss Attila, thanks for clarifying your thoughts and I am sorry that you have been at the receiving end of Deb’s wrath.

Name, sorry to hear that you have been through this yourself.

I hope that our legal and mental health systems can find some way of dealing with harassment and threat cases. This gray line isn’t good for victims, for the mentally ill who are unable to keep their behavior in check (I don’t include Deb in this class; she chooses to not get treatment and to not take advantage of treatment when she has been court ordered to participate in treatment), for their families or for communities.

With situations like this, why are the laws on the books if they aren’t enforced? While Lane County is a financial mess, these kinds of laws are broken everyday in every part of the country. These crimes have gone unpunished routinely for decades. And that has never made sense to me.

The one thing that would be the most helpful is if Deb’s family would close the purse and take back their house (the last part may be impossible). Even if they can’t get the house back, they need to stop paying the mortgage. And even if the house is paid off, Deb won’t be able to sell it for ages and wouldn’t be able to rent it easily due to its location. Deb will only seek change if she has absolutely no other option. Stripping her of her finances is the only kind of change that could work on a significant level.

  658. Benedick says:

I don’t read comments that are longer than my screen unless they say “Jeff G” at the top or promise in the first paragraph to contain midget porn. But hopefully both?

  659. Skate says:

I live in Portland Oregon and my folks live in Eugene, so I’m moderately familiar with the community. I agree with Little Miss Attila regarding the value of funnyhaha’s perspectives.

As for Eugene, the economy has flatlined. Even county extension has closed their doors because the voters won’t approve the funding (a major bone of contention as all of Lane county is rural, except for the Eugene/Springfield metro area).

Almost everything he/she says is right on the nose … including comments about the validity of posts by the person claiming to be Andrea Ortiz. It is absolutely certain that no-one in their right mind recognizes and honors Deb Frisch’s “pedagogical accomplishments” … there are none.

I would quarrel with one statement regarding the worth of the house she lives in. The economy may make it hard to sell or rent … but not the location. She happens to live about 5 miles from my parents house and we’ve driven out in her area many times for pleasure. It’s lovely rural area … rolling hills and small dales with oak woods all over the place. You’d live in the country yet have easy access to everything in Eugene.

I don’t mean to sound like a realtor, but In my opinion, that house is in a very desirable location. Under the right circumstances, I would gladly live in that area. But I wouldn’t want to live in that house any more than I’d knowingly live in a house that used to be a MethLab.

  660. KD says:

Regarding her home that her parents now own (86574 N. Modesto Dr., Eugene, OR): According to Zillow.com it last sold May 14, 2003 for $50,000. If that is true, it would have been sold extremely under market value. It’s current estimated value is $267,500.

  661. LBascom says:

Damn! Work out of town for a week and return to find this awful mess.

You’re a brave man Jeff G, making a stand where those in authority fear to tread. This is a mentally ill psycho that isn’t going to stop on her own volition. It will end only when the situation escalates to physical violence, and I strongly urge you to avoid that episode short of necessary self defense.

I give 50/50 odds Greta Van Susteren does three months discussing the Frisch case…

  662. funnyhaha says:

    Hi Skate,

I didn’t mean that the home wouldn’t be attractive; I meant that in this economy it would take a long time to sell or even rent out Deb’s home. I should have been clearer about that. And you are right; it is a beautiful area to live in.

JeffG, I noticed that several of the posts you wanted off of Deb’s site have been removed. Did Google/blogspot cooperate?

One would think that with a jail sentence hanging under her head, Deb would try to act as a model citizen. But obviously logic and Deb do not go together.

Shame on us for getting in a spot where hands are tied all around. Classic legal doublebind.
Families should have rights and be encouraged and facilitated, not threatened.

  668. I’m not sure anyone should be entitled to kidnap a family member without an objective appraisal from someone who is qualified to make one.

I imagine that what everyone is trying to say is that we’d like to see families be able to channel their help in a constructive fashion, so that the internet service that’s supposed to facilitate tutoring goes to that, rather than terrorizing innocents several states away.
