Maryland triumphant! I got to see a little bit of this game in the airport in KC today. The way I look at, whoever wins the game between UM and KU should win it all. I don’t think IU or OU has got the guns to do it.
You’re probably right, but that doesn’t always hold true. In 1986, they called the game between no. 1 seeds Duke and Kansas in the semifinals the “real championship.” But 2 seed Louisville easily disposed of 6 seed LSU while Duke fought past Kansas in a battle, and then Louisville went on to win the championship, beating an obviously tired Duke team. So it certainly can happen. Don’t forget either, that Oklahoma did beat Kansas fairly badly about a month ago in the Big 12 Championship.
Good luck to the University of Maryland, though, from this lifelong Duke fan. If Maryland plays their best, they should win it.
