Dems 2008: The Kobayashi Maru exercise [Karl]

cnndelegates

A pw reader from Saint Louis University (who may identify herself in the comments if she wishes) having some fun with CNN’s delegate calculator sent in the screencap above before the results of the PA primary were known.  She was able to plug in sufficient results for the remaining contests such that both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama fell short of the necessary number of delegates and superdelegates to win the nomination.  It is quite unlikely, but quite amusing.  Click to enlarge.

“…quite amusing”? It’s freaking fantasy, one which may pre-occupy the rest of my day! Imagine the drama, the demonstrations, the MoveOn contingent eruptions, the riots! Egad. Make It ’68? Hell, make it Armageddon.

The “Divided We Fall” ad is a delightful addition to this scenario.

They’re going crazy over at Huffpo. My favorite writer, Cenk, said that HIllary is only in the race because she’s a white chick. I await the outrage.

    – Actually, one more “BitterGate” on Obama’s part and this prospect may not be a fantasy at all. In fact his gaffs from the past three weeks, coupled with a resurgence on her side, some duct tape on Bill’s mouth, and it may already be a stallmate to the convention.

    – Isn’t diversity wonderful. Identity politics, its whats for dinner!

Don’t worry – Obama’s web minions will sneakily reprogram the delegate-math computer and win the exercise.

    No, it’s natural selection.

    ;)

  9. McGehee says:

    Natural selection, intelligently designed. ;-p

I seem to think Edwards has some pledged delegates that he hasn’t promised to either side, right? That’s what makes the math work.

It’s going to be one heck of a nifty smoke-filled room at that Democratic convention…

  11. McGehee says:

Edwards will endorse whoever’s hair looks better.

Too bad Kerry isn’t running this time.

  12. Justin says:

So, when is the DNC going to announce that the FL and MI delegates will be counted in their original and unadulterated form? Then Hillary will have the votes that her campaign and her character has earned and deserves! Just because the candidates were not allowed to “advertise” in these states, does not mean that the people could not form their own decisions and still get out and vote! Let every American be heard!
