Any Way the Wind Blows [Dan Collins]

Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see;
Nothing really matters–
Nothing really matters to me.

I just had pork loin, nobody loves me,
He just had pork loin, from the pork family
PAIRED WITH SOME RICE AND AN OLD PIECE OF CHEESE!

  2. sashal says:

are people allowed to change their views ?
Like Horowitz was a fucking commi, now he is a fucking neocon, and examples abound…
Obama, should just say, “yeah I was inclined more to the socialism when I was much younger and less experienced.
Now I am more realist and true liberal.
And I am going to exterminate uncalled for and unjust warmongers in general election..”

  3. JD TWP says:

In the end, as Baracky’s actual positions become more clear, as opposed to not having them, we will find that he is significantly to the Left of where the electorate will be comfortable.

  4. alppuccino says:

Well, whatever he says, he’s going to have to begin it with “I lied about it but I’m a liar, that’s what I do. So can we talk about issues now?”

  5. JD TWP says:

when I was much younger and less experienced.

As opposed to the elder experienced statesman he is today? He is pointing towards those years as his experience, and cannot even tell the truth about what he believed then.

  6. alppuccino says:

I think he’s saying that he’s a much more experienced liar.

  7. B Moe says:

are people allowed to change their views ?

    Obama, should just say….

Sure he can change his mind, but he is denying that is what happened. As to your suggestion of what he should say, however well intentioned, that is precisely the problem. He should say something approximating what he believes, and can consistently repeat. The Democrats biggest problem the past few elections has been confusing inconsistencies made glaringly obvious by contradictory statements and over the top pandering to their various lunatic fringe groups. Now Obama is following the same path.

  8. datadave says:

my fav. red haired Irish American girlfriend (she’s welcome if she calls me) has another sage thing: “If I were to produce a spot for Obama,” Hart said, “I would take 100 photographs of everything that he does with his children and wife — that could range from Halloween to a picnic to everything we identify with as part of American life — so people could say, ‘I relate to that, I understand it.’ ”

But, for now, Obama might want to leave the Trinity church photos out of the montage. “

  9. sashal says:

    That’s a good observation, B Moe :
The Democrats biggest problem the past few elections has been confusing inconsistencies made glaringly obvious by contradictory statements…
I noticed the same on the other side as well, but I guess it only opens to impartial once, independent and not invested in one sided propaganda…

  10. Rob Crawford says:

And I am going to exterminate uncalled for and unjust warmongers in general election..

That’s a little Bolshevist of you, don’t you think?

  11. Slartibartfast says:

    “uncalled for…warmongers”

What would another kind of warmonger be?

  12. TmjUtah says:

These people are going out of their way to screw up my predictions.

Last week – less than that, actually, I was certain that Obama was untouchable. No matter how bad he was, he was still vital to other Democrats in that if they didn’t run him, they’d screw themselves down the ballot when the black folks stayed home.

The words I used were “I done with him” or something like that.

Now this. He’s not damaged goods. He’s rapidly working on becoming the sofa in front of the apartment complex with the “FREE” sign on it.

Yeah, outdoors is good. And CGI in plenty of bunnies, and expensive sandwiches. Maybe one of those Martha Stewart numbers neatly wrapped in glassine and pressed with a heavy, clean, red brick paver.
And then a montage of applications for graduate school, clapping at plays, or gathered round the lastest Netflic. There should be conspicuous use of a wide assortment of Apple products.

  14. SarahW says:

(#13 post was in re #8).

I thought the surrender Dorothy analogy was maybe the wrong one. After all, I seem to recall the person calling for that surrender dissolved into puddle and steam.

  15. sashal says:

    only election-wise,Rob, only that way.
And as a matter of fact, due to his Geneva convention undue adherence, he would not subject them even to the mildest Abu Ghraib fun…

  16. Mikey NTH says:

Anyone can change their mind. That’s what a sane human does as they get more information. But is there actually any proof that Sen. Obama has changed his mind, other than him just saying it?

  17. datadave says:

gotchya, Sarah. I am rather unnerved at the Apple reference, need a new puter myself…but don’t have the bucks for the big screen Mac laptop I’d like. maybe after I pay my taxes in the very far off future. My son’s got the normal sized one and that’s 2500 bucks he earned doing webpages while in middle school. (only bragging for him not me!_I could only afford a used VW bug w/ all my h/s earnings doing grunt work)

tmj, maybe I am the only one old to have had the honor of voting for a real authentic war hero: George McGovern! (my bumpersticker, I don’t blame me, I voted for McGovern!), It’s been downhill ever since that fine man got caught by Nixon and a negative press in being inconsistent about a vice Presidential candidate who had mental health issues (minor ones but some saw that as a kiss of death) and George said he was 1000 percent behind Eagleton (sp?) and then dropped him the next week….and then later it was revealed by a journalist of the Right, Novak that eagleton gave him the antiMcGovern line of voting for McGovern him would be a vote for Amnesty, abortion and acid which was a bit unfair since he was a straight-laced “prairie populist” kind of guy. I guess I am hopeful…but then I was then too. A McGovern-like finale? ‘fraid so. Hope I am wrong as hope I am wrong about the economy for the next few years too…

Being the authentic Geezer here, others who didn’t vote for him wish maybe they had, even some libertarian conservatives see ol’ George as maybe a better man than Nixon (who btw sold “US” out to the Chinese more than anyone else). One of these on-line mags had a good article..but I’ll let Pablo look it up for me.

  18. datadave says:

so Sarah, maybe Hillary will get her long-shot chance at being the nominee? being the Non surrender Dorothy!? could be….and she’d probably be tougher candidate even with her baggage (husband). Like my son who is in the Obama camp but can’t vote, I didn’t like her…but now I am starting to agree w/ my ny. g/f who does or did…but also see her as damaged now. Pretty tough predicting this one. Maybe we’ll all be surprised! Could be fun. A lot of Republicans now see her as more like them than McCain perhaps.

  19. alppuccino says:

is anyone else thinking of the closing speech by Dustin Hoffman as Edward Kimberly in Tootsie?

  20. Rob Crawford says:

    only election-wise,Rob, only that way.

Sure, sashal, sure. You picked that word for its metaphorical strength, not its actual, you know, meaning.

And as a matter of fact, due to his Geneva convention undue adherence, he would not subject them even to the mildest Abu Ghraib fun…

Abu Ghraib was never US policy, and those responsible have been prosecuted. The whole matter was exposed, investigated, and punished by the US military. Why do you discuss it as if it were? Do you enjoy lying?

  21. happyfeet says:

    Color me Teri Garr.

  22. sashal says:

no, just saying about Obama’s adherence to those quaint and obsolete conventions which, if followed after, restrict our capability to fight our enemies.
    No lying, Rob, nope.

  23. Dan Collins says:

Andrew Sullivan says Abu Ghraib was American policy, Rob. QED

  24. JD TWP says:

They are just making shite up as they go along.

  25. datadave says:

    it’s shiite, dude. but I can’tspppell either.

sasal, your russian roots are showing. like man, Russkies always say “our KGB”, they’d make you wish you’re dead….but still some Americans say, torture’s no problem as it’s better than being dead. Guess they haven’t experenced much of anything eh?

“Dustin Hoffman as Michael Dorsey / Dorothy Michaels” from Tootsie can you Utube it for us? couldn’t find it….

  26. datadave says:

what’s cool about Dan is that he’s succinct! don’t bother to say it, I know, I know……

  27. daleyrocks says:

    quaint and obsolete conventions

sashal – Did you ever read the actual quote for context to what was being referred to as quaint? If you did, you wouldn’t be misusing it and sound like you were talking out of your ass.

I love the smash and grab quote practices of the left. 100 years of war in Iraq!!!!111!eleventy!1

  28. Obama Campaign says:

This shit is just another DISTRACTION from the issues that really need to be talked about and the conversations that we really need to be having.

  29. Rob Crawford says:

no, just saying about Obama’s adherence to those quaint and obsolete conventions which, if followed after, restrict our capability to fight our enemies.

So he’d give detained terrorists access to scientific instruments, etc?

Again, do you purposefully lie, or do you simply not know that you’re repeating falsehoods?

  30. JD TWP says:

100 years of war in Iraq? Isn’t that McPeak’s position, Baracky’s miltary advisor?

  31. happyfeet says:

I’m glad you’re here Dan. Now I miss Karl though. And Jeff. Now I miss Karl and Jeff.

  32. Carin says:

are people allowed to change their views ?
Like Horowitz was a fucking commi, now he is a fucking neocon, and examples abound…
Obama, should just say, “yeah I was inclined more to the socialism when I was much younger and less experienced.

Sure they are, if they only ADMIT it. Horowitz wrote a book about it. Obama is denying he wrote it, or that those were his positions. Why can’t he admit it?

  33. happyfeet says:

Baracky lies is what this means. Trust is really important, especially when the media wants to natter on and on about the economy. It’s the whole read my lips thing basically, except with bonus socialism and a genuine disdain for capitalism. But it’s very in accord with teh Black Value System that his hatey church is all committed to, so I can’t say for sure he’s totally been like fundamentally dishonest. But pretty close.

  34. JD TWP says:

Baracky’s denial on this one is positively Clinton-esque.

  35. cranky-d says:

The Obamas are the new Clintons.

  36. Cave Bear says:

    Carin says:

“Sure they are, if they only ADMIT it. Horowitz wrote a book about it. Obama is denying he wrote it, or that those were his positions. Why can’t he admit it?”

Actually, Horowitz has written several books on this general subject (the disingenuous Left). In fact, a short article written by him and a guy named Peter Collier, that appeared in a SF anthology edited by Jerry Pournelle, called “The Survival of Freedom” is where I first heard of the guy, and that was over 25 years ago.

  37. Carin says:

Well, actually I was referring to the fact that Horowitz wrote a book about how he used to be a commie, and his transformation. He doesn’t deny his former beliefs – he owns up to them, and explains how and why he doesn’t think that way any more. It a sign of (intellectual) honestly. Baracky can’t, or wont, do that.

Or, he wants to simply distance himself from it because he still sorta, kinda feels that way.

  38. Sean M. says:

are people allowed to change their views ?
Like Horowitz was a fucking commi, now he is a fucking neocon, and examples abound…

Yeah, but the last time I checked, David Horowitz wasn’t applying for the job of leader of the free world.

  39. J. Peden says:

Is it really a surprise – to anyone, sashal – that Barack’s Blank Slate mind even includes the handy Joe Stalin Changey Eraser?

  40. Jeffersonian says:

Abu Ghraib was never US policy, and those responsible have been prosecuted.

And the General in charge of the whole cluster-fuck is now a celebrity on the southpaw lecture circuit. See, it was Cheney that ordered the short-sheeting of those poor fellows’ beds…

Is it time to limit this modified hangout, or is that modify our limited hang-out, Barack?
