Flew into Philly and then Chicago without a hitch, but my brother Matt and I got our signals crossed, so I ended up sleeping on a vent in the bus terminal at O’Hare till the morning when he came to pick me up. Fortunately, I and the brothers were able to swap appreciations of Tupac and contemplate the mystery of the female mind, so the time passed relatively quickly. Got home, breakfasted, showered, talked with Mom and Dad, took a three-hour nap and hit the road.
As usual, construction season on the Dan Ryan in Chicago sucked, but it was smooth once I hit the Skyway. I got to listen to the Brewers beat the Padres and thought of the Rox, and how nice it was that the Wild-Card Race was coming down to the final game. Listening to Ned Yost, in response to a reporter’s question, was he “going to play the JV” in the final game, and hearing him say, “The what?” made me feel good.
I overnighted at the first rest stop on 90 in Pennsylvania, finding a spot out of the sodium lamps, but found it hard to rest until I rearranged stuff wholesale, slept about 4 hours and hit the road again, and was home by 4:30. Got to hear the highlights as they occured of what turned out to be the Packers victory over the Vikes before I got out of ESPN radio range taking 74 east from 87, but was disappointed to hear the Brewers down 3-0 against the Padres, so was thrilled to hear they’d won and forced a playoff.
Anyway, I’m back. What did I miss?
Oh, and Favre! for President.
Cox and Forkum are stepping down. Anyone who doesn’t have a problem with that needs to get off my porch.
Oh wait, this is Jeff’s porch…
Nevermind.
timmahb’s triumphant return….. or not.
“What did I miss?”
F****ng Yahoo took the MLB link off its homepage. Now I’ll have to dig it up and add it to my favorites. And it was a lot more fun when the Brewers were playing the Sox instead of the Cubs.
Uh…you were gone?
Get off Jeff’s porch, Slart.
Didn’t you notice the lack of postorrhea over the weekend? Sheesh!
You missed the hover bacon, and some Lamp stealing cats.
Hey. I’ve been here the whole time and I have no idea what hover bacon or Lamp-stealing cats are.
Unless it’s code for something naughty. In which case I don’t want to know.

References to two posts in the pub.
welcome back, it has been quiet. Also, Merovign picked up his dry cleaning.
or her dry cleaning. I lack clarity on this issue.
Thanks, D. I shoulda known.
Jeff, the geraniums on your porch look like crap. You want I should toss ’em? It’s too late in the season to replace them.
The hover bacon site is down right now it seems.
Aw. Jeez, the cat just posted the lamp on E-Bay!
Happyfeet: I believe Merovign prefers the royal we.
Therefore Merovign picked up their drycleaning.
“Exalted one” also works.
They wanted more posts, was the gist of it, and they were decidedly not amused when no posts were forthcoming.
On a related note that has nothing to do with them, here’s a Civics Quiz.
I think it’s rather hard really. Ric Locke would tear it up though I bet.
“I think it’s rather hard really. Ric Locke would tear it up though I bet.”
I think Ric should be concerned about this comment being taken out of context.
“hover bacon”?
I have no idea what that could be, but I suspect I’m better off that way.
Unfortunately, I was curious enough to look.
Now I’ll never get that song out of my head. That, and “Bananaphone”.
it was tough, and he probably would. but I’m still above average. ;D
Matt hasn’t commented in a long time really.
Oh – good job maggie – I didn’t get all the way done. I started feeling sort of anxious halfway through.
me too. I’m not up on most of the philosophy bits, but multiple choice makes it easy to guess.
Dan,
I hate to keep bugging you about stupid stuff, but Tupac was actually Onepac when he died.
“The Exalted One.” I like that.
I go away for two days, and I’m a sovereign?
Wait, does that mean, according to ChrisS, that I’m equal to Bush and Ahmadinejad now? (That was something else those gone on the weekend missed.)
