“What it’s Like to be a Cop in Fallujah”

For those of you who haven’t yet seen it (it’s an old post, but Allah featured it on Hot Air recently), go read Bill Ardolino’s post detailing the heroism of one Fallujah policeman whose family was targeted by insurgents.

Obviously, this man is exceptional — and there are likely a number of Iraqis who would just as soon surrender freedom for a bit of stability at this point — but do keep in mind that at least some of the Iraqis liberal Democrats and neo-realist Republicans would have us abandon are indeed willing to fight for their country, and for their country’s defeat of an insurgency whose very success depends in large part upon our political will to stand firm in our commitments.

    “WOW!” And it fits.

It’s been a long time coming but Iraqi nationalism is alive and well. It can’t be easy to throw off decades of mandated fear, but they’re coming around.

Much to the chagrin of the markel’s of the world.

An Iraqi man sacrificed his life to save the lives of four US Soldiers and eight civilians when he intercepted a suicide bomber during a Concerned Citizens meeting in the town of al-Arafia Aug. 18.

That is a fantastic story on many levels. And a good point that someone brought up is that I am amazed that he came back and actually took prisoners. I think I may have shoot to kill and taken no one back alive. An amazing act by a simple brown person. The “anti-war” folk are chagrinned, I’m sure.

  7. JD says:

Obstreperous Infidel – Isn’t chagrin, and its various conjugations, just a really good word?

  8. Obstreperous Infidel says:

    LOL…It’s a great word.

You know, I’d hate for Iraq to lose such a fine man, but really, this is the kind of person who SHOULD emigrate to the United States and become a citizen. He’s got more American spirit than 99% of Americans.

we must leave at once so the decent Iraqis can hang reward this man!
