If instead of a lifelong partisan politician looking to turn the judiciary into an arm of his party, Chuch Schumer (D-NY) were the shortstop on a team in a close August penant race

Schumer: “No offense, but we’re using the wrong strategy here, skip. Rather than making a pitching changes — which is only going to burn out the bullpen — I think what we should do is add a few extra outfielders, a middle middle infielder, and maybe a second catcher. And if that doesn’t stop the bleeding, just have the starter refuse to pitch to anyone who doesn’t agree not to swing.

“Is it fair? Well, that depends. Is it fair that a team like us that cares so much about winning — and is committed to it — should actually have to fear losing to a team that I don’t believe is near as good as us, and that is filled with a bunch of crackers? Of course not. In fact, such an abominable outcome is the very definition of unfair. And I think that, given time, the fans will come to agree…”*

    Haha, poor Charles.

“I was totally duped by Alito’s slider, though I had watched hours of tape on the guy.”

I’m thinking that Chuckie should be given the original copy of the constitution and the necessary plenipotentiary powers to take a mauve Sharpee and change statutes as he sees fit. After all it’s a living document so why shouldn’t Schumer be given the opportunity to tatoo the parchment to meet all of his “expectations.”

We would agree to do this as long as Chuckie was satisfied with the title of “Lord High Constitution Tatooer” rather than “Omnipotent Emperor.”

John Roberts will be forced to resign as Chief Justice due to his historical “twitchy problems” and the inconvenience he created by not, well, dying. Widely recognized “moderate” Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be elevated to the newly created post of “Big Chief Ideological Progressive Law Cop.” She’ll be responsible for establishing the “expected” court doctrine before cases are heard and insure that nurses are standing by to tranquillize Alito, Thomas and Scalia when necsessary.

At first I laughed and then I seethed but now I’m wiping the tears I shed for my country.

Where have all the oppressers gone….

I suggest that Schumer should rely on his experience as a political animal, and think again.

He could take a lesson from Dingy Harry and the Grand Kleagle.

    Shumer:

“Look, skip, we all plowed a few kegs that starting pitcher in Spring Training and he specifically told us that he wouldn’t be throwing his changup during the season. Well, at least he said the changeup was kinda an unfair pitch and maybe he wouldn’t throw it. Couple this with that other pitcher who said that his slider ‘hurt his arm’ and it seems to me we have a really good case for telling the umps not to let that other manager pitch either of those guys in this series.

I mean, hey, we do have the snazzier uniforms and better game day give aways. Look at “Buck for a Foot” foot long hot dog night!

Come on, skip, give it a try. We’re only 10 votes games back! We can still win this thing!”

  7. DrSteve says:

Schumer’s a sneering little tool, no doubt, but it wouldn’t be nearly so worrisome if Republicans didn’t consistently refuse to reciprocate.

  8. Swen Swenson says:

Heh. Schumer is a bit of a chuch isn’t he?

  9. JD says:

Dr Steve is right on the mark. The Republicans went through so much hand wringing over procedural issues, and let the Dems and the media frame their positions as being unprecedented, and continue to do so with things like Executive Privilege, having been claimed since JFK. If they are unwilling to stand up and fight the Dems, and defend themselves, the Schumer’s of the world will suffer no such hand wringing in running roughshod over their ideological opponents.

I can’t see Schumer as a shortstop. I question his mobility. He seems to track plays to the left just fine but is totally blowing his coverage to the right.

    – Yes….that would be the crux of the whole problem wouldn’t it.

    – Apparently political impidence leadfs to a complete mental breakdown, followed soon with euphoric delusions of grandure. With a quixotically OCD driven group like this, there must be some really great business opportunities, except I suspect they tend to be on the low end of the food chain in terms of earning power. Fulltime victims generally are.

You almost always make me laugh Jeff G. Thanks.

  13. JD says:

The next principled, non-partisan thought that Sen. Schumer has will be his first. One of his media hacks must have told him that whining and sneering down his nose over his bi-focals gives his ranting more gravity.
