my first brief conversation with the recently deceased food processor I have to replace at some point today

me: “Wow.”

food processor with large crack in top and blown motor:

me: “So, should I not have used you to make kindling for the Chiminea, then?”

****
update: I’m accepting recommendations for a new processor. But do keep in mind that I am but a few jars of pennies short of that second America where things really, really suck.

Have you tried a nice, sharp knife and a cutting board?
    Just sayin’.

  2. Dan Collins says:

    Advice?
I got your advice right here, buddy.

    TW: become MORAL
    I think I’m a bit long in the tooth for that . . .

  3. Diana says:

    Get a rasp.

tw: plunge possessor down the toilet.

  4. Dan Collins says:

You may want to check with Tuesday Morning, too, if there’s one in your area.

  5. Jeff G. says:

Yeah. And the Red Pepper soup got everywhere.

Last time I made THAT mistake.

  6. BumperStickerist says:

A Cuisinart, unless you’re hell bent on making this a research project rather than just getting a food processor.

Tuesday Morning is a good idea

Then again, you might try this:

  7. Hoodlumman says:

You know, John Edwards keeps room 143, sector 8, level 3B full of household products just for those in the 2nd America that might need them.

    Just give him a shout.

  8. Carin says:

You know, if only America were more like Cuba. And, instead of rice steamers, we were all given food processors. Just a thought.

My TW has brackets. This is going too far.

  9. iowahawk says:

You put a blown motor on a Cuisinart?

    Dude, that’s hardcore.

  10. JD says:

The Viking food processors are a bit pricey, but I have dropped it, put things in there that did not belong, and basically abused it, and it still does everything we ask it to do.

  11. chuckR says:

If you got a Vita-mix, you really could use it to make kindling for the chiminea. My bro has a 25 year old one – it’s an awesome WMD. Unfortunately, like so many things that will last forever, acquiring one requires many jars of pennies.

  12. rho says:

Get thee to a thrift store. Pick up two cheap ones for $8 or less.

  13. Jim in KC says:

    For chopping.
    For liquefying.
    For kindling.

  14. Jeff G. says:

    I’m thinking about a 9 cup Kitchen-Aid. I hear it’s pretty freakin’ tough.

Anyway, off to do my plyometric workout. This new P90X regimen will be the death of me, I’m pretty sure.

  15. mojo says:

I sympathize, man. My 10-year old TV blew it’s fuse last night. Sigh.

Now I have to decide on a wide-screen flat panel HD of some sort. I’m thinkin’ 40-inch. Suggestions?

  16. Jeff G. says:

I have a 32″ Samsung LCD in the bedroom. But if you have the space and don’t need to hang your TV on the wall, I recommend a Sony HD projection. I have the 1080p 60″ (only about 13″ deep) — which has a better picture than almost any of the flat panels I’ve seen. I think they also have a 50″, which would run you about the same as a decent 40″ flat panel.

But enough about you. I need to chop me some food!

  17. JD says:

mojo – 50″ Samsung is really really good for the price. I prefer the Sony projector in my theatre, but for day to day viewing, the Samsung was the best combination of quality and value that we could find.

  18. JD says:

65″ Vizio for the basement, but that was a puchase based solely on size. The picture quality is far exceeded by the other brands, but not so many offer reasonably priced pieces in the larger sizes.

  19. B Moe says:

“You put a blown motor on a Cuisinart?

Might be something to think about for that Turbonique blower you are rebuilding, make a blender out of a 55-gallon drum for those intimate little get togethers.

  20. Kevin says:

Use a lawnmower instead. It’s faster, though makes somewhat less even slices.

  21. Rob Crawford says:

Yeah. And the Red Pepper soup got everywhere.

    Immersion blender.

  22. Viridian says:

Seven-Cup Cuisinart Classic. It’s cheap, it works real well, and it looks just like your mom’s.

  23. mojo says:

All concerned: Sony Bravia 40″ 1080p…

    YEAH, BABY!

  24. Darth Bacon says:

    Feh.

I’m a professional Chef, so everyone defer to me!

Get the 14c. Cuisinart- the only thing better is restaurant-grade, like a RoboCoup R2, or a Vita.

  25. elizabeth says:

My beloved 25 yr old RobotCoupe died lsst month, so I’m alookin for a new food processor, too. Probably will end up with a CuisinART but I’ve been hearing they’re now made in China and not nearly as durable as in the past.

  26. Darth Bacon says:

    Just kidding…

I am a professional Chef, but I could give a Nutria’s Patoot if anyone defers to me.

    TW: Activity Rancher

What do I, work on a fuggin’ cruise line now? Am I Julie McCoy to you people? I’m here to entertain you???
