I am no art critic, by any stretch of the imagination, but I have never understood the appeal of the Mona Lisa. Anybody care to take a stab at it, and explain why it is so revered? Or is it simply famous because of its name?
Dammit, Jeff. I just spent 5 minutes staring at 8 underscores and a parentheses, or at least the right half of the parentheses, making sure that I was not missing something.
BTW – What is the singular form of parentheses? Parenthes … ? Parenthesi …
TW : also applicable, ie. Besides being brainless, JD’s questions are also applicable to nothing.
It never fails… I go out of town and out of touch for a week and Jeff threatens to shut down again!
Jeff, I’m glad you finally felt able to share a small part of your tribulations with us hangers-on out here. Kinda like gawkers doing 10 MPH passing a freeway accident, but I admit to a certain morbid curiosity to know when she’s forced to take that job on the fry-line.
Oh, and Mona Lisa? Smirky is absolutely right.
TW: iapize?? Samnite?? What in the blue-eyed world has this site come to?
I’m not sure the third underscore really captures the essence the way you think it does, Jeff.
Hmmm, and to think that all this time I thought it was by Salvador Dally.
Minimalism. Heh.
I think it’s exactly how DaVinci would have done it if he’d had an IBM Selectric typesetting machine. Or, you know, MS Word.
is this your way to hide a broken heart?
That’s the most vulgar thing you’ve posted yet. Despicable.
Oh, wait…
Pensive? Porcine? ah… Pragmatic!
Yup, it’s true! I don’t know diddly about art…
Eh. I’ll take Piss Christ.
;-)
A little too much fumo in the sfumato . . .
Dali’s interpretation of that would look similar, just with more melting clocks, and misshaped figures.
I always thought that Mona Lisa, distilled down to her essential elements was

Smirky …
Or Da vinci’s “Sketches While Bathing.”
RRRRAAAOOOORRRR!!!
I may not be an artist, but I know what I like.
I wonder what Da Vinci could have done with “Pellegri and goddessoftheclassroom scold JD” ?
With Zelda filming … not that I have ever dreamed about that, or anything ;-)
A Picasso pen-and-ink drawing it ain’t…
Jeff,
Hilarious.

So, you telling me the Mona Lisa never had a period?

Harrison –
That’s what she said.
What’s she smirking about?
I knew I should have made an overlay…
What’s she smirking about?
She’s really Da Vinci in drag. And no one will EVAR suspect.

tw: Chago melted…!
I was being kind, RiverCocytus. And using a soft fill light.
Didn’t know Mona Lisa had a toboggan, but you’ve captured it perfectly!
Zelda, I suspect it wise to assume about a fourth of the PW commentariat is flirting with you on any given day, myself included.
Now, were you to go to Ace of Spades, that would jump to 80%, and the rest would be spurwing plover.
I’m not sure what it means, but…
TW: radical hierarchy
That reminds me — I need to replace the rug pads.

Zelda – Yeah, I probably was. Do not encourage me ;-) But, if you ever get tired of Jethro, or need a cameraman, you know where to find me ;-)
