The outrage of the day, though, is this:
In a letter to the court on behalf of Scooter Libby, Paul Wolfowitz wrote:
I also remember how Mr. Libby offered his services pro bono or at reduced costs after he had returned to private law practice – to help former colleagues and friends with legal issues. In one case he helped a public official defend himself against libelous accusations, something that is extremely difficult to do for anyone in public office. The official in question was Richard Armitage who more recently served as – Deputy Secretary of State.
Via David Frum.
James Carville was among those who wrote letters on behalf of Libby. Dick Armitage? Notsomuch.
UNRELATED: Slartibart’s selling his 2005 Scion xB. Better car than the Honda Element, in my view.
Homophobia at Hullabaloo, but I guess it’s all right when the MSM strokes a liberal. It’s not as though you’ll ever find a left-wing pundit tongue bathing Obama just because he’s black and clean and articulate. They’re not superficial, like we are, which is why they’re so underrepresented in Hollywood.
BURRHOG is at home, but has a long road to recovery. Email him: keithsjohnston AT gmail DOT com, but he tires easily, so don’t expect him to respond any time soon. If you’ve got anything humorous to send, that would be good, I think.
Screw the “two-party system.” I’m voting for Iowahawk. I think he’s really picking up some Davementum.

Why do you think they named him DICK?
I can imagine the difficulty of defending Armitage against such accusations. What can you say about the snake that isn’t true?
Nice. I guess gratitude does indeed have a depressingly short half-life.
Asshole behavior, on the other hand, is much more chronic.
It walks on its hind legs?
1. Cynical mode. Anyone who goes into politics is an arsehole and deserves whatever lumps are thrown their way.
2. Humanitarian mode. When I came out of ICU, I wasn’t ready to laugh for about another 2 weeks. Mainly because it hurt. So no sidesplitting jokes- just gentle humour like Hi, is your medical insurance up to date..
tw center. OK, you can make me type center but I am still going to spell humour properly.
Notaed Bene
Oliver “articulate is racist” Willis, who is paid by Media Matters, has the temerity to accuse a socially liberal conservative of promoting an agenda?
I was going to note that O-Dub eats Twinkies by the case, but I do not feel like being called a fat-ist.
Wrong thread. Sorry.

Just for the record: different guy named Slartibartfast. I’ve been around long enough so that my original blog has died and gone to blog heaven, JFTR.
Armitage Ware was the Imperial porcelain of choice. All over the former Empire, desperate men strain over the Armitage. Whenever I encounter an example in full Victorian working order,in jungle clearing or Calcutta back alley, I feel a little frisson of Pride.
Then I piss on it.
That Hullabaloo comment thread is priceless.
Smith, Jones, Johnson, Slartibartfast…
Happens all the time.
Just goes to show you; no good deed. . .I’l venture to guess it was the Christic Institute’ (Motto; providing CIA conspiracy theories since 1983) allegation that he had been part of a drug sumuggling network in S. East Asia, when he was

study group_ Much like a long time ago, well about a decade ago, a well known investigative reporter, named Dan Moldea;had a book that dealt with organized crimes role in professional football, called Interference; certain interested parties objected and sued him for libel; a former judge, then in private practice called Kenneth Starr, took up his case; and his book was published. A few years later, when Starr was heading an investigation (anybody heard of this)
Moldea did his best to . .. what do you think.
It sounds as if almost everyone except Armitage wrote letters for Libby. I heard an interview yesterday with the literary editor for The New Republic. He said that although he thinks the Bush administration is horrible, he thinks Libby is a great guy. Libby gave him legal help, and was very supportive during the ordeal.
Hmmm.
So. Libby did pro bono work for Armitage and then Armitage let Libby twist in the wind?
Beauty is skin deep. Being a complete asshole goes all the way through to the bone.
Wow.
I have no idea what any of you are talking about.
And instead of shame at my ignorance, I feel…bliss..
