   Trying to continue this I discovered that “where” and “when” get tricky.

   Btw, I always found Twain mainly misanthropic anytime he wasn’t speaking directly about the river.

   Re:  Twain.  Maybe.  But there’s a progression, I think.  Can one become a worse misanthropist?  Or is that like “a little pregnant”?
