Play Misty Formy [Dan Collins]

We’ve all been amused by the contortions of HH and others posting here to prove that where there’s smoke, there must be fire, unless the smoke billows out of the ass of an administration critic.  As I pointed out here, Ms. Plame will be singing for Henry Waxman and his committee of wax figures in the House on Friday, before jetting off to a well-deserved retirement and movie deal in Santa Fe, where she will try to pick up the shattered pieces of a life demolished by the killbots of BushCo.  I’m sure Congressman Waxman will try to limit the scope of her testimony to her own version of how her family and colleagues were endangered by the nefarious outing she suffered at their hands.  But since we are to be afforded this political theatre, we might as well get her testimony regarding the questions put forth in that post and in the comments.  I urge you all to write your representatives to see that certain underlying questions are addressed for the edification of the American public, so that we cease operating in parallel universes as we consider these issues, let the chips fall where they may.  It appears that different parties are operating out of different precedents, and that for the good of the nation certain facts ought to be determined as well as possible.  Ms. Plame’s agreement to testify provides an opportunity to do so.

I urge you, if you have the ear of any blogger of stature, to recommend that people write and urge their representatives, particularly if they appear on the linked list, to utilize this opportunity to maximum effect.  Committees are fine, but they don’t always put the kinds of questions that people might find compelling.  Here’s our chance to cross-examine this central figure in this scandal through our representatives.  Let’s not lose it.

All this debacle proves to me is that mepotism is wrong.

Had she opted to recommend someone not her husband this would not have happened.

I wonder why you are so unconcerned about the lies told by Joe Wilson as well.

Her devasted life is another point at issue.

But she and Joe are now the media darlings in a completely non scandalous scandal.

I compiled a list of questions from that thread and from received email, and submitted it to my congressman who is actually on the committee. Sent it Saturday so hopefully his staff have seen it today.

As nice as it would be to see, ain’t gonna happen.

Waxman will be sure to control this.  And any uncomfortable questions will be deflected by “Libby trial still outstanding” and “CIA won’t let me answer”.

    “CIA won’t let me answer”.

Is this going to be open to the public? Any chance of smuggling a laugh-machine in there?
