ABC reporter Terry Moran has inadvertently opened up an Amanda’s Box! You can’t believe the shit that’s flying out of there! It’s like Raiders of the Lost Ark on steroids!
Head for the hills! Save yourself!
Meanwhile, outside of the Edwards compound:
News Presenter: So, now we go to Bob Robertson in North Carolina. Bob?
Reporter: And then my wife asks, is this “Bush Derangement Syndrome” about the President, or . . . . Are we live?
I’m standing here outside the Edwards property on this chilly February morning with about a dozen other reporters, waiting to hear the fate of the Pwn3dagon 2, as they’re being called, the bloggers Amanda Marcotte and Melissa . . . something.
It’s been a tense vigil, Tom. We know that, somewhere in there the fate of the Pwn3dagon 2 is being weighed. Someone calling himself “Chris Bowers” from something called MyADD has threatened to unleash a vicious rant on the internet if these 2 young women are fired and . . .
News Presenter: Bob? I’m sorry to interrupt, but could you explain some of the back story for our viewers?
Reporter: Oh, sure, Tom. Edwards hired Marcotte to manage his website, and Melissa . . . uh, the other one to co-ordinate his “Netroots” efforts at gaining supporters to “work their asses for him.” It seems that one of the bloggers in question said some intemperate things on her blog, Pandagon.com, about Catholics and the Virgin Mary and the Angel Gabriel’s white, hot, sticky jism man juice angel juice, and some conservative Catholics took offense.
News Presenter: Any word on when the Edwards camp is liable to make some kind of announcement?
Reporter: We’re hoping we’ll hear something later today. John Edwards has a bit of a reputation for the amount of time it takes him to get himself ready in the morning. You don’t get hair like that without a little grooming, Tom.
We think that Edwards or one of his spokespeople may at least attempt to distance him from Marcotte’s opinions with respect to the white hot spurting spunk of the Angel Gabriel. Some people are interpreting this as Marcotte claiming that, in effect, the Mother of Jesus Christ was forcibly raped by the Holy Spirit.
News Presenter: Thanks, Bob. Keep us posted, will you?
Reporter: I’ll be right here, Tom.
News Presenter: So, as we enter Day 2 of the Pwn3dagon crisis, we hope for a speedy resolution, but we might be digging in for a long haul.
Phin’s got a post up about this, but not at Agent Bedhead, interviewing some lefties who aren’t outraged.
Happyfeet notes the difference a little cropping can make:
Among the writings Donohue listed was posted Feb. 21 on McEwan’s site,
Shakespeare’s Sister. What don’t religious conservatives understand, she
asked, about “keeping your noses out of our britches, our beds and our
families?”
vs.
The Foul-Mouthed Vulgarians at IBD
For her part, McEwan a year ago on the Shakespeare’s Sister
blog demanded of religious conservatives: “What don’t you lousy
mother——s understand about keeping your noses out of our britches, our
beds, and our families?”

C’mon. There’s no way a “journalist” would say “jism” on air. “Spunk”, “man juice”, or “protein shake”, sure, but “jism”? No way.
Okay, Robert.
Perhaps because Christianity is a set of ideas, while being black or Jewish isn’t. Is that possible? Aren’t ideas proper objects for attacks and lampooning? Granted, the language is impolite, but the target is not out of bounds.
Still waiting for that brilliant research truth-finding squadron on the left to find the GOP version of Pwndagon to expose. Appartently, McCain’s blogging chief has called America a “Christian nation.”
Is that the best you can do? Hell, Charles at LGF coulda found that without booting up his laptop.
Come on people, DIG!!
Newsreader: In other news, the Mitt Romney campaign has announced its new edgy webmanager Jeff Goldstein. Goldstein, of the blog “Protein Wisdom,” was previously best known for being stalked by a psychotic college professor.
“I look forward to advancing the cause of Gov. Romney. I feel we have a lot to add and I am excited about the challenge.”
However, a closely placed armadillo source has reported some troubling facts about Mr. Goldstein. This source claims Goldstein is a vile, vulgarity spewing spawn of Satan, and, between swigs of bong-water, claimed that Goldstein once played third base for a KKK softball team.
We will update this story as facts present themselves.
From Punkass blog:
I think the Republicans are desperate to reverse this bold hire by the Edwards campaign because they’re terrified Democrats are about to awaken the slumbering giant of liberalism on the political landscape. We’ve discussed the enormous popularity of liberal ideas many times in this space. If the Democrats decide to embrace real liberal political thought again, Republicans won’t be able to hang back and wait for the Dems to paint themselves into their typical bland, uncompelling corner. And that’ll make it much harder for Republicans to win elections.
Erm, yea, that’s it. Actually, I can hardly contain my disappointment that Edwards has (most likely) canned her.
Yeah, liberalism might be a slumbering giant alright… but it’s a giant in the nature of a cyclops. Big, foul tempered, irrationally mean, not particularly hospitable to actual humans, tends to get drunk on power and fall down, easily duped, couldn’t see straight to begin with and eventually blinded after some poor guy it was brutalizing decided he’d had enough. Ended it’s career fondling sheep and evading responsibility, telling its friends that its predicament was nobody’s fault.
Wow. Liberalism as slumbering giant is a better metaphor than I’d thought. That crooks and liars guy is pretty smart. And aptly named.
We’ve discussed the enormous popularity of liberal ideas many times in this space.
Which “popular” ideas? The “free lunch” ones or the “use the law to shut up our opponents” ones?
Ardsgaine,
Christianity, indeed different sects of Christianity, are not above criticism. And yes, they are different than being “black” (but being “Jewish” is both religious and ethnic, so we ARE back to a body of “ideas” again).
But Mandy doesn’t criticize Christianity, she loathes it and describes it in terms that if directed against Jews would put her in the David Duke category.
Mandy has her own trouble with non-leftist Jews, too. For her, the problem in the ME is Israel.
Just wondering…does she go by “Mandy”, or is this the flipside of “Jeffy”?
As usual, you let your virulent hatred of Xtianity blind you, Ardsgaine.
The point is that bigotry should be seen as bigotry, and it too often is not, when Christians are the object of the hatred.
Darleen – spot on!
Slart
I don’t know about others, but I use “Mandy” because it gets a little unweildly typing out St. Amanda of Fornicatus, Patron Saint of the Holy Ovaries and Sanctified Clits each time.
So I’m guessing nobody at Punkass, Pandagon, Feministe, et al, have considered the possibility that Edwards hired these women so he could fire them publicly and distance himself from the nutroots? I guess they don’t think Democrats play that sort of hardball politics?
(Actually I don’t think that’s what’s happened, but if I were a paranoid libtard I probably would.)
Punkass:
Note the perversion of the word liberal as it pertains to a classic liberalism.
As Regis might say: “Punkass is the kind of cat who wouldn’t recognize liberalism if it was wearing a cone bra and slapping him in the ass with a bull whip.â€Â
It is a very, very good thing I am telecommuting this morning, or I would be FIRED for laughing so damn hard!
Just wondering…does she go by “Mandyâ€Â, or is this the flipside of “Jeffyâ€Â?
Amanda is the Blogger formerly known as ‘Mandy the Mouse’ from her time at her old blog Mousewords and her online stint at Usenet.

Being black is not an idea in this country????
Has anybody check with Sharpton or Jackson on this shit? I think most people would define “culture”, at least partially, as a collection of shared ideas and we’re constantly reminded that black America has it’s own culture that we whiteys can’t hope to even understand.
Nedra Pickler:
vs.
IBD
Ah. I had no idea. I mean, I knew about the Mousewords blog but I had no idea she was known as “Mandy the Mouse”.
Odd, that; completely unfitting.
Actually, I’m not so sure about that. I have heard “journalists” use the term money shot on the air before. Whether the “journalist” in question actually knew what it meant is, of course, open to question. Many of them aren’t really all that smart.
I’ll bet, though, if you put the word “jism” on the teleprompter they’d read it out loud like the trained monkeys they are.
One question is this:
It’s been 3 days since Amanda’s last blog post,
Edward’s Blog,
At what point does it become clear that Amanda’s no longer blogging for Edwards – or is Edwards saying that there’s been nothing worth blogging about happening in the world?
Or is Amanda in transit to North Carolina and out of range of any wireless internet connections? Does WaffleHouse have hotspots?
Stuckeys?
The silence on the Edwards blog is deafening.
and the graphic Amanda chose to accompany the analysis by the recently graduated Internet Health Care Policy Expert looks like boobies.
It does.
Admit it.
savor the irony.

Newsreader: “And now an amusing story about some local residents reenacting the days when cowboys drove cattle up the Jism Trail.”
I like it.
Doesn’t Mandy do that to him everday?
Darleen,
I agree that the virulence of Amanda’s hatred and the obscene manner in which she expresses herself are good reasons for Edwards to drop her like a hot potato. I was just highlighting that one quote from IBD, and pointing out that there is no double standard in treating criticism of religion different from criticism of ethnicity.
(Yes, Jewishness includes both, but anti-semitism is not based on a critique of Judaism as a body of thought. It is based on the hatred of Jews as a race.)
Those who’ve read my posts here (*waves at Kyle) know that I have strong objections to the ideas underlying Christianity (and Islam, and Buddhism, etc). I wouldn’t describe it as a “virulent hatred” as Kyle does, more of a high disregard. The disregard doesn’t necessarily extend to Christians themselves, just as I don’t hate all leftists, even though I despise that ideology also.
Christianity deserves criticism, and the ludicrous notion of the immaculate conception is a ripe target for ridicule. One can’t engage in that kind of satire, though, especially using pornographic language, and expect to be embraced by mainstream Americans of either party. If Amanda wanted a career in politics, she should have been more politic.
Actually, Ardsgaine, the hint was given above but apparently passed you by– or did you not notice that Obama is being criticized as **not really black** by the Sharpton/Jackson crowd?
In this country, at least, being black is *precisely* about a set of ideas, and Darleen is quite right.
This leads me to ask—if Amanda, et. al., used this as their defense, wouldn’t that require them to stop referring to LGF as “racist”? Because Charles criticizes the ideas of Islamic supremacism, after all.
Umm… I don’t think that’s what Darleen said, and I seriously doubt that she would agree with you. Basically, you’re saying that Sharpton and Jackson are right.
I hold that they are wrong. Being black means having black skin. It doesn’t determine the content of one’s character, or one’s beliefs. The Revs Sharpton and Jackson are simply attempting to shield their ideas behind their race, and claim that criticizing the one means criticizing the other, which is exactly what the editors at IBD would be doing by claiming that being a member of a religion is the same as being a member of an ethnic group. They want to place religion out of bounds for criticism or ridicule, as if it were the same as making fun of a person’s physical appearance. We are born into a race, and that’s something we can’t help. We do not have to accept the religion or ideology of our parents though. We bear full responsibility for the ideas we accept, and must be prepared to see them criticized by those who disagree.
Yes, it would.
Incidently, I’m not using it as a defense of her. I’m using it as a defense of criticizing religion.
I mean, I knew about the Mousewords blog but I had no idea she was known as “Mandy the Mouseâ€Â.
Actually, it was “Mandy the Mighty Mouse”. At least at one time.
The point is that bigotry should be seen as bigotry, and it too often is not, when Christians are the object of the hatred.
Do you still stand by your statement if it’s rewritten with one word change, as follows?
“The point is that bigotry should be seen as bigotry, and it too often is not, when Muslims are the object of the hatred.”
What is your opinion of William Donohue’s statement, as follows?
“Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular.”
Is that an anti-Semitic statement?

Would you still agree with this statement if rephrased as follows?

Sorry for the double post. I got an error message when I posted the first time.
