School Loses “Tremendous Asset” [Dan Collins]

“Chesterfield lost a tremendous asset today,” he said.

Murmer, a teacher at Monacan High School, was suspended in December after objections were raised about his private abstract artwork, much of which includes smearing his posterior and genitals with paint and pressing them against canvas.

  1. Chairman Me says:

It does seem like a shame to fire him. Most highschool kids these days graduate not even knowing how to wipe their own asses. Maybe Murmer could’ve helped.

  2. ahem says:

I haven’t seen enough of his asset to know whether or not it’s ‘tremendous’. Any photos?

  3. Dan Collins says:

There’s nothing wrong with portraiture, I guess.

  4. Dan Collins says:

ahem, no, but then I haven’t visited his website.

  5. Dan Collins says:

Maybe I’m just uncritical about it because I want it to be true.

  6. mojo says:

And people buy them. $900 bucks for a butt-print?

    Civilization is doomed.

  7. McGehee says:

And once again, let us praise Jeebus.

Now that Jeff and at least one of his ears are back on this blog, I think it’s time that he institutes some kinda reality show format as a way to eliminate all of the guest bloggers from his site. It makes sense if you think about it. In a societal sense, nobody wins on reality teevee. What I’m suggesting is simply more direct. All of the current guest bloggers should be forced to live together in a 500sf log cabin somewhere in Eugene, Oregon where they can compete in weekly elimination contests involving troll bashing, proving or disproving the existence of Jamil Hussein, and the construction of extremely long sentences. Of course, they’d all be encouraged to go out together in large SUV’s to do stupid group activities like lumberjacking, and we’d also expect lots of drinking, and hopefully a couple of hookups, back at the cabin.(Incidentally, are any of the guest bloggers seriously hot babes?)Best part: by the end of the show everyone is eliminated, no prizes are given out, and Jeff does a post about an armadillo suddenly waking up and realizing his hiatus was only a dream. This is pure gold!

    My money is on Dan.

“Does his art interfere with his ability to teach?”

Considering the level of maturity displayed by most high school students and considering that this would never, ever be forgotten in the district and school, I would say yes, it will interfere with his ability to teach.

Nothing better for our school systems than good ole “SACK ART” What a great loss for the Humanities Department……

He is teaching an interesting lesson on marketing and entrepreneurship.

“Chesterfield lost a tremendous asset today,” he said.

Did he say that with a straight face?

The final part of the url on Yahoo is absolutely priceless:  …/teacher_butt_art.

  14. Dg says:

Micky NTH I think you are a bit off base there…

I think any person that can create this kind of art, sell it for real money ($900, wow… makes one think… all that artwork I flushed down the toilet), with a straight face… can certainly handle the taunts and jokes of a bunch of young men and women.

And obviously, if he can create that YouTube video, in same straight face, he obviously can handle public humiliation.

What is more important is the reaction of the parents.

Frankly my experience with art teachers is that they are all a little loose… more than a few ‘artsy’ folks are that way.. and most kids in school deal with that quite well, they know they aren’t necessarily role models, but do provide a look at another way of ‘being’… no matter how silly.

What this school board was really afraid of was that the kids would be inspired by this man… and possibly duplicate his shtick… or worse….

If they only knew what happens after the football games… they’d have far more to fear than a ‘butt print’…

  15. Who’s Canvas, and how long did it take her to complain?

That’s assuming none of the guest bloggers is a hot babe, I think.

  17. Lost Dog says:

I think he meant to say that “Chesterfield lost a great ASSHOLE today”.

At times like these I’m reminded of what my dear old Grandmother used to say:  “Let he who has never dipped an ass, some junk, or a pudendum in water-soluble paint and pressed it up against some swatch of cheap posterboard cast the first stone.”

She was like the Isaiah of Reisterstown, Maryland, that woman was…

Chairman, need I remind you of the “praise Jeebus” link in my previous comment? You pack me and all the other guest-bloggers in a little cabin, ain’t no way anyone survives but me. I gots a secret weapon.

  22. SteveG says:

So lets say the guy is backing up with some day glo pink paint and just as he hits canvas, the impact knocks loose that chimichanga he had for breakfast.

Question: Do you charge more; or less, for the art piece?

Not that anything like that has ever happened to me….

  23. SteveG says:

PS: if he mounted (excuse me) a crucifix on the ummmm… piece it’d be in museum

  24. I can’t tell if Assman’s video is the same as this, because his requires YouTube membership, which I don’t have and don’t want.

Here’s another video, possibly the same one.  It boggles my mind.  It boggles my butt.  I’m always happy to find people who are more immature than I am.

To Attila the Pillage Idiot:  It is the same video.  Isn’t that YouTube parental screening nonsense a pain in the ass?

  27. Mikey NTH says:

Well, you may disagree dG, but my experiences tell me that he would difficulty teaching adolescents once that gets around, just because adolescents are the way they are.

The artist formerly known as teacher?

  29. Al Maviva says:

    Lost an asset, eh?

Sounds to me like they lost a ballset, too.  And at least a dickpiece.
