PARIS – Iran will face U.N. Security Council sanctions for refusing to halt its nuclear program, France’s foreign minister said Wednesday, but major powers are still divided on exactly how far punishment should go.

“The question is about the scope of sanctions but there will be sanctions,” Philippe Douste-Blazy said on RTL radio.

“Are we in a hurry? Yes,” he added later after meeting Israel’s foreign minister. “Are we ready to go as far as sanctions? Yes.”

It is to quiver!

Well, that tears it. I thought that France was firmly on Iran’s side. Guess Douste-Blazy didn’t get the memo. France is awfully schizophrenic these days. Coming apart at the seams, she is.

  3. Pablo says:

Could it be that they’ve decided that Iran is more of a threat than America? Sacre bleu!

  4. furriskey says:

The French have started talking like Rumsfeld. Sinister.

  5. Jeff Goldstein says:

    Such cowboys, the French.

DOWN WITH UNILATERALISM!  UP WITH PEOPLE!

  6. TerryH says:

I can see it now- Nukes for food.

  7. BJTexs says:

There’s a report of Ahmadinutjob peeing his pants, but not from fear…

    Quelle wacky Francais!

  8. Michael Smith says:

Of course there will be sanctions.  After all, there is a pretense to maintain. We have to pretend that the UN is good for something.

  9. RiverCocytus says:

The French have always been opportunists, mon ami.

Now they can take credit for helping defeat the Islamist threat!

You know, they were with us before they were against us, which was before they were with us which was before they were against us…

If I were French, I would be so confused that I, too, would just sit and enjoy the cheese. At least it is comprehensible.
