Russian Media: UK “Panic”

From the BBC:

The three main national networks, Rossiya, Channel One and NTV, all led their Thursday evening bulletins with extensive coverage of the radiation alert and reports from their London correspondents.

The state TV channel Rossiya kicked off its bulletin in hard-hitting style.

Panic in London,” observed its presenter.

“British special services are monitoring five aircraft that may have traces of deadly polonium-210.”

Later in the bulletin, the same presenter advised British police to widen their investigation to cover London taxicabs and underground trains.

The state-run Channel One echoed this tone, telling its viewers that “Britain is on the brink of panic” and opening its bulletin with images of British police officers on the streets of central London.

On NTV, owned by the state-controlled energy giant Gazprom, one presenter suggested that ”thousands of people around the world might now start panicking”.

An ex-KGB spy gets whacked in a strange way in London, and suddenly the UK’s in a panic, because all of the Londoners who are ex-KGB are at risk?  Seems more like the Russian MSM is in a panic, because these inexplicable Westerners just won’t let the issue lie.  Can you imagine?  Spending all of this time, money and energy trying to figure out why one somewhat insignificant guy was offed with an exotic poison?  Things like this happen all the time in Russia, and nobody raises a stink!  I mean, sanctity of human life, sovereignty, those are nice sentiments, but this just takes the cake!

You know, at the time I was sympathetic, but fuck Chernobyl.

And it’s not as if commie assassins hadn’t bumped off people with exotic poisons in London before.  But were people cowering under their workstations then?  Nyet!  Show some backboneskis, comrade englishers!

Morrissey?  Don’t get me started.  He’s a quagmire, I tell you.  A quagmire.  As Witheld would say, don’t even.

Chernobyl is in the Ukraine … and Belarus … and Georgia … and Russia … and Siberia …

A.: Who needs light bulbs when everybody glows in the dark?

  7. During the anthrax attacks of 2001, the BBC told us that there was PANIC in New York.  Their reporter walked the streets, describing the orgy of UNREASONING FEAR, while in the background behind him, people walked their dogs, pushed their children in strollers, ate ice cream in the caressing light of autumn.

So, basically, if it bleeds it leads.  And if doesn’t bleed, well, we can fix that!
