Recent polling demonstrates Hillary Whatchamacallit-Clinton polling 2:1 over nearest Democratic rivals for 2008 Presidential Race.
Whosadinghy-Clinton, buoyed by her success in having shepherded her national health care reform bill while First Lady to former President Clinton, and by her scrappy grassroots effort to gain admission to the Senate after being hampered by Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and by her long list of accomplishments while a member of Congress, and her scrappy, underfunded defense of her incumbency, finds herself far and away the frontrunner for the ‘08 nomination among Democrats, according to recent polls.
John Kerry, regarded as an astute reader of national politics, announced last week that his “botched joke” had cost him nothing with regards to another presidential campaign found his favorability almost halved for reasons that are obscure to this seasoned and penetrating intelligence.
Among those also receiving support among Democrats:
Second place for “likely” support was nearly even among Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois (15 percent), former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina (14 percent) and former Vice President Al Gore (14 percent), given the poll’s margin of error or plus or minus 4 percentage points.
One of whom is an articulate black man, with the other two notable for having spoken out against the twin menaces of Wal-Mart and Global Warming.

You didn’t really just call him an articulate black man, did you? I hope that was a botched joke.
That’s better than “an additional U.S. Senate windbag”, don’t you think?
Is it just me, or are the Dems playing with a bit of a thin bench?
Have you had a chance to peruse the Republican landscape lately? When Rudy Gulliani (and I like him) is just about the only viable candidate the pantry is almost empty (translation: screw McCain.) In fact, while I wouldn’t vote for any of the Dem’s listed (I’m rapidly coming to the conclusion that Obama is a liberal in moderate’s clothing) they have more viable alternatives at first blush than we do.
I’m so depressed I’m going back to bed. Somebody feel free to cheer me up in some way…
BJ, here’s something: The national press only writes about those they already know about. Those already famous or Senators. They rarely write about governors, who are the favorite hands-down, to win the White House.
In addition, beware of the bandwagon effect. One reportard writes “Smith could be the man!” Another writes “Some say Smith is the man!” Another writes “Analysts agree that Smith is the favorite!” Remember Mario Cuomo?
Mikey NTH:
I’m with you on that. It’s way too early to handicap the presidential race. Too many “sure things” from both parties (remember Ed Muskie before he imploded in NH?) have driven (or been driven) off the road by any number of circumstances.
My point was that neither side has a stellar group of candidates, which is often the perception 2 years out. Those who are predicting a cakewalk for hilary are either shilling or delusional. They have no more idea now than any of the rest of us.
THe sleeper names could be Mitt Romney for the ‘Thugs and Evan Bayh for the Dems. We’ll see.
Or someone we have never heard of. If someone went back to 1990 and told people the name of the next president, the reaction would have been “Bill who? Governor of Arkansas? How much have you been drinking?’
Paris Hilton has a singing career?!
Paris Hilton has a drinking, whoring, and acting out career.
Much more lucrative these days.
