Am I the Only One Who Missed This? [ahem]

Okay, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Stop yer sobbin’. We’re real liberals; we can take it.

A Technorati search of the blogosphere indicates that the McCaul report (pdf) was referenced at Gates of Vienna by PJ Media and then blipped out of sight. That’s a pretty big item to be disappearing from general view.

According to this article at Investor’s Business Daily (11/06/06):

The McCaul report found that hundreds of illegal aliens from the Middle East were successfully smuggled over the border into the U.S., including members of the terrorist organization Hezbollah. The FBI reports that citizens from nations with an al-Qaida presence are learning Spanish and changing their names to make them Hispanic-sounding in order to pose as Latin Americans and cross the border more easily. Hugo Chavez’s regime in Caracas has even provided identity documents to nationals of countries that support terrorists; several Pakistanis recently were caught at the border with such fraudulent Venezuelan papers, the report noted.

As Douglas MacKinnon at the Houston Chronical (10/27/06) says:

Let’s pause a moment here to take in that little newsflash. Members of Hezbollah have already infiltrated the United States. And finally, the report stresses that U.S. military and intelligence officials believe that Venezuela is emerging as a potential hub of terrorism in the Western Hemisphere.

While Venezuelan strongman and madman Hugo Chavez just embarrassingly lost his bid to buy his way onto the United Nations Security Council, this report validates and reiterates that not only is Chavez not going away, but that he intends to franchise his revolution and Islamic terrorism throughout the Western Hemisphere with the direct goal of punishing the United States of America.

Emphases, mine.

Hey, it’s a shitty day. We might as well take it all at once.

I call for the immediate impeachment and prosecution of all Democrats.  They’re the majority.

And I damn well ain’t questioning the timing.

  2. I posted something about this on a comment on Rantburg a few weeks back, also referencing the Chronicle (see comment #4).  I did a find on the PDF of the McCaul report, looking for “Chavez” and “Venezuela”.

The report doesn’t say that the Venezuelan government has been giving out travel documents to dubious types, just that a group of Pakistanis was found with Venezuelan documents.  It’s possible they were stolen.  I guess.

All the more reason to embrace the Mexican people… consider them a filter.

  4. Tom says:

Thanks. Now I really feel like maccaca.

  5. Big Bang hunter says:

    “Si hablah Allahu Akbar”?

    – Maybe Bush could make a special place for any infiltrating Jihadists in the guest worker program.

  6. Republican On Acid says:

I have spoken with a few turncoats. Most of them think that if the Dems try any impeachment, they will suffer in 08. They voted Dem for a “change” not for a revolution.

Basically my feeling is that the uber Dems will not be able to help themselves and go forward with impeachment and then get whisked right back out of power in 08 (although I am not sure how many seats are in contention that year.)

  7. cynn says:

I’ve read countless articles along the same lines, and it makes my blood boil.  That has been one of my major beefs with the republicans all along:  rolling back American civil liberties in the service of “terrorwatch” while whistling in the dark on border security.  The democrats had damn well better get moving on this, but I don’t count on it.

The cheap and easy trade in illegal labor has attached itself like a remora to our economy.  Of course terrorists have easy access to this country; anyone with half a brain can sneak or buy their way in.  But the social or security ramifications seem to be lost on everyone.  Unbelievable.

  8. Republican On Acid says:

Also, for those who worry too much, Reagan had 8 years of no legislative help and he managed to do just fine.

  9. Big Bang hunter says:

cynn – It became apparent, during the great Congressional stall-out act, that neither side was willing to give up their precious Hispanic voting block. I honestly think it would take a serious run from an Independent third party to make either camp budge, because their scared shitless it would give to huge an advantage to the other side.

  10. Big Bang hunter says:

    – Which, on a side note, could indicate that both sides are more serious about getting elected than securing america. Basically they both, Dems and Reps, sent a message that the Mexican vote was more important than American safety. I don’t know what anyone can do when you have that sort of gridlock.

  11. Big Bang hunter says:

    – Just one of many reasons to vote for Guiliani in ‘08, because he’s sort of an Independent in so many ways, almost a classic Liberal, and one of the few on the National scene that almost everyone likes and thinks is capable, and one of the few I’ve heard speak on it that “gets it”. I suppose he could be corrupted by the machine, but it’s a start.

  12. cynn says:

I’ll take a look at Rudy.  Tom Tancredo is too much of a stretch for me.  Maybe he’s like the mangy pitbull compared to Rudy’s well-groomed doberman.  Dunno.

  13. Eno says:

Well I for one fully expect Nancy Pelosi and other members of her party to rise up against this clearly anti-american action!!! I’d expect some harsh action soon……any day now……

  14. Darragh says:

Don`t worry folks; I’m sure these infiltrators are all friendly types- perhaps denied tourist visas and desperate for a look at the grand canyon or such.

After Hamas didn’t just call for strikes against America or anything.

  15. Darragh says:

    After ALL- oops.

…rolling back American civil liberties in the service of “terrorwatch”…

cynn: You muse have missed the NYT admission of error then. Most Americans have. It was buried at the bottom of a minor article. Calame admitted that the program on which this canard is based is actually legal after all and the President is not infringing on your civil liberties.

I haven’t found any evidence in the intervening months that the surveillance program was illegal under United States laws. Although data-protection authorities in Europe have complained that the formerly secret program violated their rules on privacy, there have been no Times reports of legal action being taken.

President Bush is an honorable man and has been trying to preserve your life.

Ma Roone! I completely missed that. It might have saved me a massive cerebral bleeding. Unreal. Where are those little “destroying the republic” pricks now?

BTW: I can’t believe that those terrorists chose to come by way of the dangerous borders rather than the easy way of hiding in cargo containers. Well…someone told me it was easy…

Bush is an honorable and good man whose lack of abilites to rally the population and make the case helped doom his party in the last election, along with untethered spending, widespread corruption, previously mentioned border policy…

  18. Lost Dog says:

Unfortunately, Bush has been infected with LBJ disease.

Half-assed is not the way to go.

Too bad, it’s just a little too late for a shot of Reagan.

  19. B Moe says:

The one thing I don’t understand, and I ask this sincerely, is if you have quality papers, why would you have to sneak into the country?

  20. TheGeezer says:

Republican On Acid: All house seats are up and one-third of the Senate seats are up in ‘08, as well as, of course, the Presidency.

I’m wondernig if the Dems should have passed on this campaign and let the Pubs keep the House and Senate for two more years, thinking like you.  By 2008 the citizenry will be fed up with attempts to neutralize state amendments that protect the institution of marriage, federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, terrorist appeasement, and the destruction of Israel.

  21. actus says:

I’m wondernig if the Dems should have passed on this campaign and let the Pubs keep the House and Senate for two more years, thinking like you.

In the 08 senate, there will be 21 GOP and 12 dem seats up. The GOP is vulnerable. And if all that congress does is check bush, the dems will be popular too. Not everyone lives in wingnut wonderland.

Calame admitted that the program on which this canard is based is actually legal after all and the President is not infringing on your civil liberties.

Some of us don’t feel that just because the law is followed, then civil liberties are still preserved.

  22. ThePolishNizel says:

“Some of us don’t feel that just because the law is followed, then civil liberties are still preserved.” Some of you bitch and bitch and offer no pragmatic solutions. You’re a professional bitch.  We get it.  How were you affected, actus, by that or any other program that has allegedly curtailed our civil liberties?  How?  And what alternatives are out there?  For once ‘splain yourself.

  23. ahem says:

actus, I don’t give a flying fuck what you ‘believe’. The law is the law. If you were on trial for killing someone, I’d like for it to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt as opposed to hanging you then and there because I happened to personally ‘believe’ you were guilty.

You fucking nit. What a waste of space you are sometimes.

It wasn’t jihadists or wahabists or black ops guys or Bush/Rummy or the invisible plane.

    IT’S THE DAMN PSYCHIATRISTS. BASTARDS!!!

Geez, we’ve now graduated from trash talking trolls to Scientology rantings. What’s next? Eurocentric racist mapmakers?

  26. cynn says:

Mayahem:  President Bush is preserving my life?  So can he preserve my face, a la Pelosi?
