JayTea Epiphany [Dan Collins]

Over at WizBang, JayTea considers an Olbermanic comparison of the Republican response to John Kerry’s latest base idiocy with the assault on Charles Sumner by Preston Brooks in 1856 in the Senate.  The title is, You know, Keith Olbermann really is that stupid.  To that I can only respond:

Well, DUH!

But I think that the point is that we hear these terms of disparagement, like asshat or douchebag or doofus or dork, and we think, “Oh, they’re just convenient labels, a kind of verbal shorthand, a kind of cartooning that, when you get right down to it, has only a blurry relation to reality.” And then suddenly you encounter an absolute fuckwad incarnate, such as Keith.

UPDATE: Is monkyboy also Hugh?  Check the comments to the above link at WizBang.

UPDATE x2: Jay Tea and I compared IPs, and it’s not so.  They just both watch Olby.

maybe he’s a monopole douchebag. If you can find a anti-douchebag, all you have to do is send them at him at a sufficient velocity (and the right angle) and you can shoot Olby into space.

He also doesn’t get the point of ‘it doesn’t matter what pundits think about what Kerry said it matters what the people thought he said.’ He and Kerry can spin it all they like, it doesn’t change that most people I know were infuriated.

  2. monkyboy says:

    Stupid like a Fox!

Leading the charge was “Countdown With Keith Olbermann,” which jumped 67% in viewership and 61% in the adults 25-54 demographic compared with October 2005.

  3. Dan Collins says:

That doesn’t alter the fact that he’s an idiot fuckwad, mb.  People watch American Idol, too.

  4. monkyboy says:

Here’s the genius you linked to, Dan:

I couldn’t watch more than a few minutes of it, but the gist of it…

I thought Olbermann’s analogy was apt, but you actually have to read the whole thing to understand it.

Far more apt than the moronic WWII or even Greek analogies the right depends on to keep their pointless wars from falling into single digit support numbers…

  5. Dan Collins says:

    mb,

If you’ll be so good as to explain just how he makes good his comparison, we’ll be happy to rip it to shreds.  It’s primate facie idiotic.

  6. Dan Collins says:

As far as valid analogies go, you might learn something about how it’s done by reading North’s Amyot’s Plutarch’s Lives of the Ancient Greeks and Romans.

  7. PattyAnn says:

    monky, from the comments there:

“All right, I went back and watched the whole thing. I quit after 4 minutes the first time, and I saw that I’d missed seven minutes of standard Bush-bashing. I feel SO much more enlightened.”

…and you posted this well after Jay Tea had already gone back and watched the rest of the clip, showing that you didn’t bother reading the rest of the comments.  You did what you were complaining about…

    From .0001% to .000167%.

Well, it could have been from 0% to 0%, but then there’s no point in using such small numbers as ‘67%’.

I don’t see any need for celebration. Or, devastation? Olby will always be Olby. Until someone shoots Justice Roberts at him from a cannon and causes him to leave the atmosphere.

  10. BJTexs says:

I’ve decided that monkyboy is actually…

    Keith Olberman

    My work here is done.

  11. Mikey NTH says:

Now that is an insult, BJ.

    Good work!

  12. I’ve decided that monkyboy is actually…

    Keith Olberman

Are you saying Mr. Olbermann has violated my copyright?

    Good day to you sir!

Are you saying Mr. Olbermann has violated my copyright?

    If the sockpuppet fits…

Now where did I put my sausage meatballs…

  14. Jay Tea says:

Dan, if you’d like to compare originating IPs for your “monkyboy” and our “Hugh,” shoot me an e-mail at jaytea (at) wizbangblog.com. It could be very enlightening.

Oh, and thanks for the kind words. I had never really seen Olbermann before—the stupid rays he emanates kept me away—but that clip was such an eye-opener.

Maybe NBC ought to sell off MSNBC to Talk America and let them just implode in a cataclysm of suck?

  15. Jay Tea says:

Actually, I suspect “monkyboy” might be “muirgeo,” if he’s doing double duty. Both made the “he didn’t watch the whole thing” remarks long after I’d said I had gone back and watched it all.

    Hehe, Jay Tea,

    You are confused.

    The Left is smart.

    The Right is brave.

The Left calls the Right stupid.

The Right calls the Left cowardly.

Try to stay with the program…

  17. marcus says:

It’s really a shame monkyboy got banned from Captain’s Quarters.

Turns out Ed’s loss is our loss, as well.

  18. David Drake says:

    Thanks for the mention, Dan.

  19. Dan Collins says:

Thanks for the succinct explication of his fuckwaddery, David.
