News from the Douchesphere [ahem]

Previews are out for Glenn Greenwald’s latest book, Confessions of a Throroughly Second-Rate Mind:

Watching Bush followers angrily objecting to the use of sexual behavior and homosexuality for political gain—or listening them oh-so-solemnly lament how the Good People are being driven away from politics because of the personal, invasive treatment to which they are subjected—is about as jaw-droppingly astonishing as any spectacle one can fathom. This is a political movement built upon claims of moral superiority in the sexual and private realms. It is truly difficult to express the level of contempt and scorn that is merited when the most fervent supporters of that same political movement pretend to be offended and angry when it is revealed that the lives being led by their political leaders are grossly inconsistent with the sexual and moral values they claim to monopolize.

Early reviews are not promising.

No, it’s not. Stating there should be standards is not the same as declaring that you live up to, or are excluded from, those standards.

Meanwhile, while waving wildly at the mote in Republicans’ eyes, the left is shitting on concepts like privacy and respect. For some odd reason, they can’t see how their targeting gays for their hostility is at all inconsistent with their professed beliefs.

Unless, of course, their beliefs truly boil down to “do as we say, and no one gets hurt”.

Is Greenwald arguing that Democrats are better than Republicans because they don’t have any moral values to live up to?

I thought the quote was a parody of Glenn Greenwald’s writing style.

It is, that teh sockpuppet master himself wrote it does not make it any less so.

All I see is one of the handful of bloggers who have managed to make some decent money off this circus taking a cheap shot at another of the blogging elites…must be nice.

I’m sure both Hugh and Glenn appreciate the ad revenue boost this post gave them…

You people are just jealous. Glenn Greenwald has had his statements added to the Bible, the Torah, and the Koran, he invented the concept of law, he’s the author of the galactic-wide Best Selling Book “How Would A Patriot Shave His Coinpurse?” And he’s had the most-read blog on the internet since 1782.

    Monky: Shift over?

I think it’s noteworthy when a homosexual advocates using someone’s homosexuality against them for political gain. Also, when a so-called liberal can discern no difference between the opprobrium one brings down on one’s self through the exercise of bad character or outright criminality and the opprobrium visited upon an innocent person who is the victim of a vicious, politically-motivated, witch hunt.

Victory at any cost, eh? Some day, it will end in suicide. It’s a disgrace. Something is very wrong.

Okay, break’s over. Back on your head.

What do you want me to say, ahem?

Two “top tier” blogggers write posts that are so obvious they are pointless.

Shorter Glenn: Republicans have used sex “scandals” in the past to win votes.

Shorter Hugh: Yeah, but we don’t actually believe any of the crap we spew.

You linked to both of them…ho hum.

I think posts that contain original ideas will attract more people to this site than posts that just link to the scribblings of a couple mediocrities that got lucky.

Are you missing the point on purpose?

Shorter Lefturd Ironies: Episode VI (Just in time for Holloweinie)

Abortion: “Every citizen has the right to privacy! It’s right there in the Constitution!”…(which of course it most certaintly isn’t, but set that aside)

Senators: “Public figures, especial Conservative public figures, have no right to privacy, even the most fundemental” (Especially in the short time leading up to an election, because you know, its for the cause, andf our Gay following will suspend personal pride for a bit to help us win)

The new SP campaign slo-gun should be:

“Secular Progressives, the party that cares, We never Gay bash, unless we need to win an election”

Gosh. This post attracted you. You even posted a response. Two, in fact. So where does that you, sunshine?

Oh, yeah, and it’s not like you built an audience like the two “mediocrities” or the host of this site have. You just sort of put out your suckers like any other parasite (aka troll) so as to get that attention you so crave. Heaven knows, you don’t actually try to contribute in any meaningful way.

    Pssst! Monky. Come here.

    Closer. Shhhhhhhh!

I have a confession to make. I posted this in hopes it would drive you away. Yeah. I got so tired of arguing with you about economics yesterday that I thought this might make you disappear. Silly me. No, it’s nothing personal. I accept full responsibility for this post. It’s lame, but it’s not quite lame enough to drive you away. It’s confusing, isn’t it? On one hand, it could be something if someone notices an odd angle to the subject but then, again, it could be nothing at all and people might be clicking past it all evening. I just wasn’t quite desperate enough to post a music video. I mean, I have my standards. But I think I see where I went wrong and I promise I’ll do better next time. I’ll just have to be more resourceful. Later.

What makes you think we want you to say anything. We won’t even be insulted if you leave without saying goodbye.

    We’re easygoing like that>

I confess that if pushed, I am probably against legalizing polygamy, but probably would consider a threesome with two really hot women.

    BECAUSE OF TEH HYPOCRISY!!!

  15. Karl says:

BTW, guess who doesn’t see anything wrong with the lefty gay-outing campaign?

    Yep.

  16. the HELL you say, Karl!

    There’s a saying… there are two kinds of hypocrites…

Those who deny wanting to have a hot threesome, and those who don’t.

But I’m totally against polygamy. The whole threesome thing- totally a one time deal.

  18. RC says:

Talk about the ultimate cherry picking.  As if the entirety of Conservative thought or even the Republican party really gives a rats patootie about homosexuality.  Just because there, historically, has been an EXTREMELY small vocal minority that were the next best thing to gay bashers doesn’t mean the majority of Conservatives or Republicans feel the same way.

Exactly which election cycle did the Republican party put in the part plank to disenfranchise gays and make them wear a pink star when they are out in public?

  19. BJTexs says:

BTW, guess who doesn’t see anything wrong with the lefty gay-outing campaign?

Worse than that, Karl, our dissembling friend is actually making up words now!

Ok, maybe not worse, but just so darn cute! Feel free to explain to him the difference between “words” and “ideas,” but take it slow…
