American Twerp Alterman Waxes Wankerous in Guardian [Dan Collins]

In his article regarding the elections, he starts whining in advance about the possibility that the Republicans may not lose control of Congress, if the netroots don’t turn out.  Among the reasons for defeat would be gerrymandering and the Black Caucus’s conspiracy with Republicans (how the hell did he find out about that?Dark Lord’s going to be so pissed!).

For the proletarian-sympathizing readers of al-Guardian, he has this sound advice: don’t uncork your champagne before the election’s in the bag.

Dr. Sanity discusses the enemy, but neglects to include the salient allusion to Othello.

Clarice Feldman has this on the Harman staffer who probably leaked selected portions of the NIE; let’s just say it’s probably weirder than you think.

And in more bad news for the Dems, the Supremes have overturned a 9th Circuit decision (!) stating that Arizona can’t require ID for voting, though they didn’t make a decision on the merits.  So, by some strange, twisted logic, the Supremes have decided that production of identification for voting is no more burdensome than it would be for buying cigarettes or booze.  Tailrank has a round-up here.

Lamont cuts his campaign another $2M check from his personal coffers, bringing the total personally donated to almost $9M.  So batshit crazy that he’s got Kerry coming to boost him.

Clarice drops by to point us toward this fascinating article regarding Ted Kennedy’s outreach to the KGB.

    Let the excuses begin.

Alterman writes:  “and the great Molly Ivins has picked it up”.

I’m nobody.  Yet I cannot imagine the circumstances under which I’d assess my own greatnes by calling Molly Ivins great.

Egad.  I mean, that woman once declared that women who suffered spontaneous abortions would be condemned by Christians as abortionists.  What a feminist geek.

Dan, you are doing a great job of holding down the fort.

  4. Dan Collins says:

Thanks, SPiT.  Couldn’t let Saturday night go by.  I do hope that Jeff gets back soon, so that I can try and lure Mary and the kids back from Scotland where they’re staying with her mum.  Sometimes we need to make these tough decisions.

Just watched the local news and the democ’rat party is having fits since they found out to day that a takeover is not a sure thing. Actually there is a possibility they will lose some of the seats they now hold. Funny how smart the American people can be sometimes. Ford in Tn. , who has never held a job in his life, failed the bar exam and went into politics has proven why he failed the bar exam, he’s a total idiot and a democrat politician is the only possible thing he is qualified for.  George Allen is now a shoe in for Va. His opponent has also proven he’s unqualified for anything exept a position where he can ask ‘do you want fries with that’. Several other democrats have hit a foul ball, Rep. Harman can pull several down with her if it’s found she knew (and it’s impossible she didn’t) that her staff was leaking top secret information to the NYT’s. There are several more democrats perched on the end of a limb and will cut it off behind them before Friday.

    – The Harman thing has become a giant “connect the dots” game. Just because the possibility exists it’s being aided and abetted by the anti-war left doesn’t mean it couldn’t turn into a political tsunomi before it’s all over. If Rove has anything up his sleeve, and lets loose the hounds in his typical way with impecable timing, the dems could wake up on the 8th worse off than they know.

    – I thought it was interesting that the inside word is even the Dems have finally admitted the Lieberman “great overthrow” was about the dumbest thing they’ve done as of yet, in 6 long years of dumb Dem political stunts. I wonder just how they’ll throw brilliant Lefty opperat-chics (Hampster) under the bus, if they end up short by just one seat.

    Scrapiron,

I’m breathing a little easier today, too.  When time’s called, it doesn’t matter who was ahead before.  I wouldn’t look for too much from the Hamner business right now.  They’ll be able to delay any significant revelations till after the election, IMO.  I’ve seen a lot of jackassery in politics, but what Ford’s just done . . . well, it makes Dean’s meltdown look normal.

Gaypatriot’s got some good posts up.  I think that the outing campaign is backfiring–turns out that they’ve overestimated the bigotry factor, because it was a lie that they’ve enjoyed telling themselves.

Ted Kennedy will have an interesting few days ahead of him.  I question the timing, of course.

But to come back to the point once again, as Gloucester says in Lear: “Men must endure / Their going hence, even as their coming hither; / Ripeness is all.”

The Republicans colluding with the Congressional Black Caucus?  The group that wants to impeach President Bush?

Whoa, now that’s some good crazy!

No, actually it makes good sense. Cui bono, man, CUI BONO!? Who benefits from impeachment talk—it sure ain’t the Democrats.

Don’t ask me for evidence, because that proves you’re in on it.

    Alterman’s a fucking idiot.

Which is why it makes sense that The Guardian and it’s loony readers would take him seriously.

More on Kennedy’s waltz with the KGB.

And when I wrote the Hanauer piece I forgot that Soros is (what a coincidence) trying to set up a rival to AIPAC. (No name yet–probably the anti-American anti-Israeli political action committee, if they have a shred of honesty.)

I’ve had a couple glasses of wine, and am looking forward to one more before I get SO stupid, but I have to weigh in on this Kennedy/Soviet thing.

    1) This won’t be picked up by MSM

    2) Ted might be asked about it but will scoff as if it’s the workings of a vast right wing conspiracy

    3) It’s halloween and Mary Jo’s ghost is looking for Ted–guaranteed Fat Ted will be hiding down in Palm Beach mansion

    4) Ted is a flatulent puffy asswipe killer

    5) Ted is Red

    8) Ted is a fat, bulbous ass whose face only gets wider and redder

    10) If Ted really is Catholic, he’ll know he’s got to face Mary Jo when he goes.

    11) Ted is an ass with glasses

    Thank you, clarice and Dan.
