who visits here often, extends thanks to all of those internet people who’ve helped him raise $2k of the $2.5k that he’s needed to come up with to get a competent attorney to argue his case against deportation. If anyone has a case for political asylum, it’s he. So, if you’ve got a little scratch that you can’t find something in Jeff’s Casa Armadillo list to dump on, think about hitting the donation button for Isaac. Let’s keep Brother Isaac around and alive.

Dan Collins:
Thank you for the link.
Does he need a new cat as well?
“Does he need a new cat as well?”
I haven’t checked, so I’m not sure.
Fascinating story. I’m still reading.
I always try to imagine what it’s like to grow up and/or live in someplace so completely different. And very often, I just can’t.
I’m feeling pretty damn grateful right now.

They detail my journey through Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the United States and Canada.
I finished those; I was working thru the rest of your blog. And again, fascinating reading.
I’m curious, Isaac. What does your family think of your asylum request? Do they know?
I wish I could do something to help.
Asylum totally sucks. I’ve done some work and some research, on asylum in the US. Its amazing how much discretion these Immigration Judges have. Even if the law is nice to you, theres still plenty that they can do.
Hopefully Canada has a better system.
And the alternative?? Dare I ask?
lunarpuff: “What does your family think of your asylum request? Do they know?”
The answers to those questions are somewhat funny, now that I think about it.
My parents know that I’ve applied for refugee protection but they don’t know why I’ve done so.
They are not aware of my apostasy. They likely think that I’m asking for asylum because of my religious background–I come from an Ahmadi family.
“I wish I could do something to help.”
You can talk about my situation on blogs and send me links to news about Pakistan that you think would be relevant to my case.
Isaac, thank you for the response. I did not know about Ahmadi. Again, fascinating stuff. I’ll read furhter.
And I’ll absolutely keep my eyes peeled for relevant articles.
I’ll start actively searching for info on my first useless conference call tomorrow!
Oh, and much luck with your family. That’s got to be tough.
I wish you much luck, good karma, best wishes, etc. And also your family.
lunarpuff:
Thank you.
A better asylum system. Best of luck to the dude applying.
