BREAKING:  THREAT OF ROVE INDICTMENT REMAINS IMMINENT, IF BY “IMMINENT” ONE MEANS “IT WON’T HAPPEN, BUT JASON LEOPOLD IS ABOUT TO GO ON A SAVAGE TEQUILA BENDER BEFORE BEGGING HIS OLD HIGH SCHOOL NEWSPAPER EDITOR FOR A JOB, WRITING, OH, SAY, EXPOSÉS ON NUTRITIONALLY-DEFICIENT CAFETERIA FOOD OR SOME SUCH”

*must credit protein wisdom*

Not that I care much, really.  Just passing along the whispers from my sources.*

Its shocking when a known liar, you know, lies to you, isn’t it?

  2. Good Lt says:

Ahhhh…been waiting all morning for that JG announcement.

tw: The truth is out there.

  3. Dan Collins says:

So far, the one thing the Special Persecutor HAS been able to prove is that Karl Rove is NOT a ham sandwich.  Scuttlebutt is that this may mean that the target of “ongoing investigation” is Armitage.

  4. Greek Homer in a time of Springfield Homers says:

BEFORE BEGGING HIS OLD HIGH SCHOOL NEWSPAPER EDITOR FOR A JOB, WRITING, OH, SAY, EXPOSES ON NUTRITIONALLY-DEFICIENT CAFETERIA FOOD OR SOME SUCH

Hey, an expose on nutritionally-deficient cafeteria food would be a million times more important to the USA and a million times more true than the fingers-crossed fever-dream Leopold has been spreading lately.

    Go Frogmarch Yourself, Jason!

  5. Rick says:

Can we say that Leopold’s reporting lacked “Merritt?”

    Thank you…thank you…you’re a wunnerful audience.

    Cordially…

  6. Kent says:

“Because justice… has a CONSERVATIVE bias.” wink

  7. shank says:

I’m totally with you Goldstein, as one of your many loyal paste-eating minions.  However, and I mean no offense Dear Leader; but I feel we might – maybe, this is just me talking here, might – be a tad, a wee scintilla ahead of the news cycle?

  8. TODD says:

Bad day for the lefties. First the Rove non indictmnet, then the surprize trip to Bagdad by Bushhilter. That sound you hear on the left websites are crickets. Beautiful day……..

  9. Darleen says:

    Jeff

I posted this on the previous thread and my own blog

Truthout is standing by their story.

    heh

  10. MarkD says:

Rick has made any snarky comment I could come up with superfluous.  Think I’ll watch Hardball tonight just to watch Chris Matthews cry.

  11. TODD says:

indictment, Baghdad. It’s early in socal…….

  12. thelinyguy says:

Aww, I’m a little dissapointed actually. I came here expecting to hear of an imminent indictment of a certain trigger-happy, war-mongering, hyphen-hating, soon-to-be ex-vice-president.

Perhaps after you’ve had some coffee.

  13. JD says:

He is not a liar !!!!!!!!!!!  It is just that his version of reality has not yet come to fruition.

TW : need, as in asshats like truthout, when they find themselves in a hole, really need to quit digging.

  14. Carin says:

I question the timing of this non-indictment.

  15. dorianmc says:

    Truthout, Liesin.

  16. Stephen_M says:

    God I love TiVo.

  17. Brian says:

Sitting here in my office, eating breakfast from my paste jar, and perusing the comments from lefty blogs on this story.  It’s quickly becoming clear that their take on it is either: a) that Rove rolled over and snitched, or b) just because there was no indictment does not mean he is not GUILTY!

The former is highly unlikely, and the latter is irrelevant, unless of course you have a delusional streak and take comfort in endlessly concocting fantasy political scenarios, dreaming of political advantage that can’t otherwise be gained.

    HEH! HEH!

  20. We put Bizzaro-Rove in jail here in Bizzaro world long ago, why are you guys taking so long?

  21. tachyonshuggy says:

    What’s the opposite of “frog-marched?”

  22. Rob B. says:

A day after the yearly Kos?

    I smell Irony!

  23. Hey, come on now, Jason is the victim here.  It probably just took Bushcohitlerburton this long to come up with the NSA intercepts that could be used to keep Fitzgerald from doing what he knows is right.

Turing Word: more, as in, no doubt, more details will be forthcoming.

  24. thelinyguy says:

    What’s the opposite of “frog-marched?”

    Goose-stepped?

Isn’t that what we fascists do?

  25. Monte says:

A really big THANKS for the link to CheChe’s comment. It (and the follow up comments located there) are really priceless. I mean, who knew that Kos was running a humor site?

  26. Matt30 says:

Turing Word: more, as in, no doubt, more details will be forthcoming.

I initially misread that last word as “frothcoming.” Which seems oddly appropriate.

  27. kelly says:

How long before Fitz starts getting death threats from the “reality-based” community?

  28. Others have already questioned the timing of this announcement, but on top of Zarqawi’s death, Bush in Baghdad, and C-Span “losing” their satellite feed for YKOZ, well, it certainly seems like Mr. Rove has been working overtime to keep America from hearing progressives speaking to TRUTH TO POWER!

Turing Word: society, as in, I blame society.

  29. Phil Smith says:

    Corallo sent this to Talkleft:

Jeralyn – it’s over. You might want to tell Marc Ash and Jason Leopold that they are free to leave the “lockdown” on the 4th floor of Patton Boggs anytime they wish. Frankly, we suspected they were just there for the free donuts all along…

    BECAUSE OF THE DONUTS!!!!!11!!1!!!

  30. Other Tom says:

The “rolled over and turned state’s evidence” stuff is a real thigh-slapper.  He testified before the grand jury five times under oath.  If he had perjured himself he would have been indicted.  If he had anything to offer on Cheney or anybody else, he would have been asked about it before the GJ.  Whatever “state’s evidence” he has has already been “turned.” Do these pathetic dopes think that he was otherwise indictable, but Fitz let him walk as some sort of reward?  Have any of them consulted a criminal defense attorney about these fantasies?

  31. Jay says:

Have yourself a merry little Fitzmas,

May your heart be – WHAT!!!!!?????????

  32. LagunaDave says:

ALL YOUR INDICTMENT ARE BELONG TO US!!!

  33. Major John says:

Can we say that Leopold’s reporting lacked “Merritt?”

    I second that heh.

I guess later I’ll drift over to see how Jeff’s dear friend is reacting to all this.

  34. Major John says:

    LagunaDave,

    WHAT YOU SAY?!

  35. LagunaDave says:

    WHAT YOU SAY?!

    FOR GREAT JUSTICE!!!

  36. PCachu says:

YOU HAVE NO CHANCE TO LITIGATE MAKE YOUR TIME.

    HA HA HA HA….

Take off every blog!  You know what you doing.

    Move Kos!  For great Tinfoil!

TW: basking in the art of the dilapidated meme.

  37. Pablo says:

    Jeralyn, in her comments:

I still think Rove incriminated Cheney and others in the VP’s office—he’s just not getting anything for it officially. That’s a big deal, because if he were, Libby’s lawyers would have to be told of the deal and could use it in cross-examination if Rove testified at trial. Now, Fitz has preserved Rove’s reputation which could make him a star witness.

Perhaps this was Fitz’s intention—to create an unimpeachable witness against Libby and others.

Karl Rove: Unimpeachable Witness, and a guy who got a deal, but not in writing or anything, because he’s the real helpful sort and not one to stick on details.

tw: Does Mars have a District of Columbia?

  38. LagunaDave says:

Perhaps this was Fitz’s intention—to create an unimpeachable witness against Libby and others.

    Doublethink, pure and simple.

The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them. … To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies—all this is indispensably necessary.

As Orwell said, the lie always has to stay one leap ahead of the truth.

“We have always been at war with Eurasia, and we have always considered Karl Rove an unimpeachable witness!”

  39. Major John says:

Why were there not more like Ms. Merritt in the defense bar when I was prosecuting? Sigh.

Instead, I had to face people that were firmly ground in the real world – made things so much more challenging.

  40. Bic says:

That whole TalkLeft thread is hilarious.

It always funny watching far left ideologues attempting to explain away reality when it doesn’t mesh with what they know to be the truth.

Jeralyn does a pretty good job of both accepting facts (no indictment) while simultaneously creating a new unsubstantiated one with her talk about Rove as a possible ally in their war on Cheney.

I don’t think doublethink can even begin to cover the number of mutually exclusive conspiracies these people have going on at any one time.

That’s probably why those on the left always look down on those of us on the right; we just aren’t able to see the intricate webs and patterns that they do.  Where we see a prosecutor dismissing a potential target (who was only a real target in their minds anyway) they see levels of intrigue steering deep into the heart of the Whitehouse which they then use to prove A) the President used his influence to quash the case and/or B) it was all a ploy to develop an even better case against a bigger fish. Both options being just as likely.

Sometimes a duck is just a duck but to a dedicated lefty that so-called duck is more likely a swan whose mother was exposed to highly toxic chemicals relased by Big Tobacco while operating under relaxed EPA regulations due to excessive illegal donations funneled into the pockets of greedy Republican legislators.  The fact it shares all the physical characteristics of a duck, quacks and has ducklings can all be dismissed as irrelavant right-wing talking points.

  41. Dana says:

Our esteemed host suggested that Mr Leopold might have to go

BEGGING HIS OLD HIGH SCHOOL NEWSPAPER EDITOR FOR A JOB, WRITING, OH, SAY, EXPOSÉS ON NUTRITIONALLY-DEFICIENT CAFETERIA FOOD OR SOME SUCH

Too late, I beat him to it—sort of.

  42. Dana says:

If you really want a laugh, read the comments of the frothy-mouthed on The Lost Kos.  You will never see such a collection of people who know ten nouns, five verbs—and one adjective.
