Shake the Magic 8-Ball and…all signs point to yes!
The other day I hoped aloud that the US would, once again, act as a beacon for freedom, and send a message to the rest of the world: we shall not, as a nation, cave to the demands of the Islamists.
And we have not—even if our “tolerant” press and academic elite argue that it is our multicultural duty to do so if our offense is to give offense—a message that became evident during the Mohammed cartoon controversy, when the Boston Globe took the unusual position that the lesson of the Enlightenment is that everyone’s opinion is equal.
Today is a good day for America. Unless, that is, Congress—catching wind of this—rises up and demands that the President keep Ms Ali away from our ports.
(thanks to both Allah, who has much more, and Peligro Bastardo)
I would trade the Yale Talibani for her. And even throw in a “terrorist to be named later”.
Interesting. What visa status is she going to have? I heard there was a big line to get into the US.
I would imagine refugee, given that the Netherlands has restricted her freedom to live where she would like and the constant threat of death from the Religion of Peace.
Obligatory ignore acthole comment.
Please do not feed the acthole.
Its always nice when the local moonbats start getting concerned about immigration issues when an educated and accompished person of the wrong political bent comes to the US. If she actively hated the US then they would be fonding over her entry.
If you have a letter of offer from an employer and have a special skill then getting into the US is no big deal. Ask the 160K H1B and 70K L1A/B who come in each year.
TW figures: as in it figures that the asshats think thi is a bad thing.
Wow. Those are discretionary and I have heard they take time to get. Good work.
Actually I think this is a good sign for immigration. I think we need to show people the importance of not waiting to get into the US. Her status seems to have come quite quickly. It explains why some people don’t just want to “wait in line” as the nativists say.
Well, we let millions of criminals come and stay in the US, avoiding tax rolls, living off our generosity, and breaking our laws, why not someone who genuinely needs a place to live?
I hope she has all her paperwork in order or else, gasp, another undocumented worker!
This is a terrific coup for the U.S. from a symbolic standpoint. The freedoms we embrace, the respect for intellectualism in conservative circles, our individualism remaining steadfast in the face of overwhelming pressure to conform to even the most abhorrent of regimes or philosophies; all are demonstrated in this move.
It’s also a coup in the sense that such a prominent feminist would align herself with the AEI, and not, say, the ACLU or NOW, groups that in days gone by were more typically associated with the plight of the oppressed.
Ah. So believing our laws (should) have meaning is now nativist.
Yeah, I know, anus is a worthless troll.
Wow. I wonder what happens in a person’s life to shrivel their soul up to the point that an electron microscope is needed to detect it and all the human feeling emenating from it?
Either that or actus is congenitally a puddle of contrarian bile.
A great loss for my country, but a great win for the United States of America. I am ashamed of my fellow countrymen and what our governments have allowed to happen over time: a huge influx of poorly educated Muslims, a politically correct society which has allowed two political murders to happen because the two victims said very true things about Islam. Both Pim Fortuijn and Theo van Gogh were killed because they dareed to speak freely about the dangers of Islam. I am relieved AHA got out on time!
Wonderful news! I am very happy. A boon for us, and she is sure to be successful and safe in the US. Excellent! Major props to AEI!
I am glad to see she has chosen the US. Goes to show you, we are tha LAST bastion of true freedom in the world. And the naysayers cry doom and gloom about our efforts to protect them. Some days, it goes beyond belief.
Welcome, Ayaan Hirsi.
The Hobo
Visa? Fuck that. Put her on a container ship leaving out of Rotterdam, through the Panama Canal to Topolobampo, Sinaloa, Mexico. From there she can ride the passenger train to Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. From there she can cross the river several miles downstream, near Lajitas, Texas, USA. It’s less than 50 feet across there. From there she can catch a ride in the back of a produce truck up to Alpine, Texas, USA. And from there she can catch Amtrack to anywhere she wants to go. Course that would cost some money.
GREAT NEWS! No qualifying remark or moonbat engagement necessary.
I couldn’t be happier for this true feminist and Liberal.
I know Theo van Gogh advised her to move to the USA and once said he would also if he were younger,
And Salman Rushdie advised her to move to America too.
I welcome her. She’s one of the great heroines of our time.
Here’s a snippet from an old German interview with her, where she explains how Rishdie recommended this move.

SPIEGEL: Following Van Gogh’s death when you knew you were targeted, were you able to think clearly about what you should do?
Hirsi Ali: No, I was constantly on the move. But I had had enough after six days. I was advised to go into hiding abroad if I wanted to sleep in one place for a longer time. The only places I would consider were Israel and the United States, because they know what the Islamic threat means in those countries. I decided to go to the United States.
SPIEGEL: Were you able to live openly there?
Hirsi Ali: No. Even in California I was constantly protected by bodyguards. I wasn’t allowed to go outside or to meet with anyone. On the inside, I still felt numb.
SPIEGEL: Did you think about asking for advice from Salman Rushdie, against whom the Iranian mullahs issued a fatwa years ago?
Hirsi Ali: Before all this happened, I wasn’t in contact with Salman. I met him for the first time at a PEN Club dinner in April of this year. He encouraged me, implored me, to remain strong. He explained to me how one can continue living in spite of a fatwa, and he gave me some tips.
SPIEGEL: For example?
Hirsi Ali: Moving to the United States, for example.
SPIEGEL: But you don’t want to?
Hirsi Ali: We’ll see.
I’m sad she had to leave, and proud she’s coming here. When push comes to shove, this is a place people run to. And ultimately, that’s all that counts.
Hummm, another awesome woman I would love to meet someday. Ali is in second place, right behind Ms. Rice.
I did not see the comments, as I only just came across your blog this instant- but the moodbats are against her coming to the US?
Figures. I wonder if they’ll ever get tired of being predictable…
