“Pro-Abortion Vandals Desecrate Princeton Group’s Pro-Life Display”

From Agape Press (h/t STACLU):

Pro-abortion vandals have destroyed yet another campus pro-life display, this time at an Ivy League university.

The student group Princeton Pro-Life had erected a display featuring 347 flags designed to symbolize the estimated number of students who might have been a part of Princeton’s class of 2010 if abortion had not been legalized. After being up just three days, the display was destroyed and signs bearing sarcastic pro-abortion messages were put up in its place.

Well, not that I really want to defend the willful destruction of a legally-sanctioned display of political speech, but come on:  these are fucking Jesus freaks, man!

And they must be silenced.  FOR THE SAKE OF TOLERANCE! AND FREEDOM!

Up is down.  Black is white.  Brandy is Mr Whiskers…

That’s all well and good, but what does it have to do with Natallee Holloway?

  2. Rob B. says:

Is it more ballsy to destroy “pro-life crosses” or “pro-life American flags?” The debate ensues. Film at 11.

  3. Robert says:

Well, college kids are stupid. I wouldn’t want my political views judged by the behavior of 21-year olds who have similar ideas.

The real story will be how the school handles this, and whether there was a grown-up involved, as in the incident at Northern Kentucky University.

Reminds me of the leftist groups on UMich’s campus that said “NO FREE SPEECH FOR FASCISTS!”

Of course, they defined as “fascists” anyone right of Noam Chomsky.

  5. Matt Esq. says:

Funny how illegals get a voice but folks who oppose abortion apparently have less rights then the illegals.

    Dont we all ?

At first I was astonished this would happen, considering the incident in Kentucky last month and what it meant for the professor.  But these people have no shame, and are so utterly convinced of their righteousness that they’ve become deranged.

  8. Dave S. says:

They could have served both groups if they had instead, hoisted 347 aborted fetuses (fetusis? fetusii?).  Or maybe just blood soaked dolls.

I was with you at Brandy and Mr. Whiskers.  Bunies, and the dogs that are them.

    HA

That said, Yay for freedom of speech.

And what, praytell, was the KY professors punishment?  She was put on leave until she could retire at the end of the semester.  How is that punishment?

  11. el s says:

here here! and thank god for the ironically named agape press for exposing all pro-choicers as freedom hatings leftists!

    McCain would be proud.

I didn’t say she was punished, but I take your point.  She was shamed into apologizing, the school’s president to a firm stand against her and her crew, and the prof was ripped in the blogosphere.  The incident wasn’t a huge PR scene in the national media, but I figured it would at least get “in the air”, especially with like-minded students/activists, and discourage them from duplicating the stunt.

Maybe their free speech really is better than mine.  I give up.

This ties in to the whole Steven Colbert “speaking truth to power”/right-wing media thing.

When you are completely convinced that you are right, then dissent (from your opinion) is not a virtue – it’s wrong.  It is thus your duty to speak “the truth”, and you have a responsibility to do so – by any means necessary.  And, those who refuse to support your opinion are either equally wrong, or too weak to tell “the truth”.

The Left has always been very good at convincing itself of it’s own virtue.  Journalist Lincoln Steffens: “I have seen the future and it works!” He was talking about Stalin’s Russia.

Despite the comment that Acthole will undoubtably make (ignore him!), this is much more a characteristic of the Left than the Right.  Everyone can be convinced that they know the truth, but leftists have (in the past and the present) worshipped Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Kim Il Sung, Ho Chi Minh, Che, Pol Pot, Castro, etc.  All of them ruthless murderers.  There’s no corresponding example of a conservative hero.

What worries me is the frustration factor.  If you continue to speak “truth”, and no one listens, you’ll eventually start to shout.  Then, scream. Then what?

She’s been charged with several crimes.

Let’s pose the incident a different light, and then guess at the outcome.

Suppose a group of students destroy an anti-war display, a pro-illegal alien display or a pro-choice display. Instead of reading about it in the blogsphere, we’d be treated to non-stop coverage by the mainstream media with stand-ups at Princeton by ABC/NBC/CBS anchor people, the Sunday talk-shows would be filled with academics discussing the “chilling” effect of “right-wing extremism” on campus, Jesse Jackson and the rest of the gang of fellow blood-sucking parasites would make an appearance to condemn the act and a full blown witch hunt for the perpetrators would ensue. Once caught, their faces would be broadcast more often than Natalie Holloway and the Duke lacrosse players combined.

But, since this act of intolerance and vandalism was directed at anti-abortion supporters, it’s simply a non-event (again, just as in KY case)in the eyes of the major media.

Good thing there’s no such thing as media bias, eh?

Perfect prediction.  May I add the Larry Summers-esque groveling apology, the obligatory sensitivity training, and the ruined career?

  19. Jay says:

    proudvastrightwingconspirator,

Don’t be silly.  All those events would clearly be proof that the media is right wing.

That’s silly. All they did was report the event.

  21. McGehee says:

And in doing so they SMEARED!!!1!! all pro-choicers!!!!1!!!

TW: sprained. Yes, I did. I shouldn’t lampoon the lefties without stretching first.

  22. Well yeah, the flags were just ghastly and offensive, I mean they pointed out that actual human beings would have been there if not callously murdered by their parents.  That’s so offensive don’t you see.

Oh, no no! The ‘incident’ in Kentucky, given the fact that the professor was *gasp* actually disciplined for what she did (as opposed to, say, getting a grant to start her own new extracurricular club, with the people who built the original display being compelled to attend sensitivity training and to pay to have the sawdust washed out of her shirt) has valorized this kind of ‘grassroots censorship’ like nothing else could have–it’s really not often that the young poseur university leftist really is told ‘you may not’. . .a lot of dumb kids will jump at this chance for a ceremonial slap on the wrist to prove their countercultural bonafides. . .who cares what the slap on the wrist’s actually *for*–it just means you stuck it to the man, baby! Trust me–there will be more of this.
