a CITIZEN JOURNALIST, who happens to live in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood, covers the national “Day without Immigrants,” 2

Just rid myself of a pair of Jehovah’s Witnesses in record time by answering the door mounted on a burro and wearing a hand-woven poncho, over which I’d draped a couple of impressively stocked ammo belts.

Which, I’ve gotta tell you:  my CITIZEN JOURNALIST’S instincts are beginning to suggest to me that, were we somehow able to convince mid-level management types that they could live without Chi-Chi’s happy hour margaritas (and delicious complementary chips and salsa), turning this “protest” thing into a daily event woudn’t be such a hard sell…

I got a seat on the train this morning for the first time in pretty much ever. But the poor Chinese ladies at the lunch counter who normally run the register and get coffee while an army of Mexicans prepare all the food were run ragged.

Hmmm… Just another “Job American’s Used to Do”!

I worked at a Chi-Chi’s here in Columbus in the early 80’s(no mexicans… just white-trash, dopers, and dropouts).

I used to make salsa by the “trashcan-load”- we made and stored it in the big 60 gallon rubbermaid ones…

T/W: “open”– as in, “Do you know how f&#xck;ing many ‘#10 cans’ of tomatoes you have to open to make 50 gallons of salsa?

  10. – Hmmmmm. Si’ hablah este’ confusiono. Any particular reason this “beaner out” was held on the “Glorious suppressed workers day of the world, unite”, May 1st, given to us by our beloved Marxist leaders in the former USSR (CCCP for those of you that can read cyrillic). Probably just one of those wild assed coincidents that seem to plague the left unfairly.

    – Locally the crowds downtown managed to eat into the usual heavy flow of bag-people plying their trade along Broadway, resulting in a few shouting matches of “Hey fuckhead – git cher own fucking corner, this ones mine”, and several million less toco’s sold to the illegals that scarf them down everyday. The touristo’s at Sea Port Village stood along the route and watched with the usual sort of looks on their faces you see, when the crowd around you suddenly realizes that they really have been at Disneyland for a straight six days. Yawn.

    – Someone mentioned the Policia along the border. They were nicely but firmly “redirecting” the mob of illegals trying to swarm across at San Ysidro, and take advantage of the confusion, austensibly to “join their feeelow eemmeegrints” in a show of solidad”.

    – Effects on community: One local gas station was closed, so I was forced to drive two more blocks and pay 20 cents less a gallon. Traffic was very much lighter, and I noticed not one “Broom truck” on the road which I’m usually obliged to follow for miles at 3 mph under the speed limit, watching like a hawk should any bumpers or tail pipes fall off.

    – All in all I don’t think this whole campaign is going to get the results they want.

  11. Lew Clark says:

Well my guilty pleasure was to drive the lighter than usual traffic and not once getting behind a smoking twenty year old pickup with a flatbed trailer that looked worse than the truck with things falling off.

Then I went to the grocery store.  All white and black people speaking English and moving through short lines.  Reminded me of days gone bye.

  12. Jonathan says:

I live a few blocks west of the Court House in downtown LA and I felt like I’d been put under house arrest all day long. (But without the beeping jewelry.) Around 6:30PM I tried to get over to Little Tokyo to shop for dinner and the road there was empty and the cops were putting up their barracades or driving off. A half hour later on my drive back I came upon a moving procession of shouting mexican flag waving yahoos about 150 feet from my parking lot and had to (along with 10 other cars) back down the steep incline of the first street on-ramp into Figueroa St.(6 lanes). The illegals had come back to annoy some more. There didn’t appear to be any police presence to block off the on-ramp and the folks weren’t polite enough to walk in the middle of first to let residents get home. I ended up driving 8 miles to Pasadena to eat in a packed restaurant and peruse the NYT for 2hrs. I lost my last sympathy for those illegals (and the NYT redesigners).

  13. – Yes…. as a side thought I wonder how much money the state saved on social services today. Taken with the much lighter traffic load, maybe we should think about doing this 2 or 3 days a week from now on.

  14. Vladimir says:

I shopped at Target today and spent 70 bucks.  Hard to tell how many people were boycotting shopping there, as it was pretty busy.

    I think this is funny…

  15. – One of the protesters asked me if how I felt about the immigration issue. Calling on my command of hispanic I looked very thoughtfully for a moment and said:

“Su brindis está en el auotmoblis tronco con el armodillo”

    – I just left him standing there before he could ask anything else.

  16. MC says:

Up in our neck of the woods they said that the marchers didn’t go to work, didn’t buy anything in the stores. I asked “Was there something new there?”

  17. sen_mccarthy_was_wrong says:

You\’ve been raising alot of the race-card issues for a while now, and I would like to point out the hypocrisy of your, and your commenters\’, position.  You have said that Juan Cole is anti-semitic, but then a few posts later claim that you and your commenters are not racist in any way, at the same time making thinly veiled statements that anyone from a Latin American country would find offensive.

I am of Mexican and American Indian descent.  I was born here, however, so am a citizen.  I am sorry you feel you can say such things, then give yourself a pass like Limbaugh or something.  I found your site after seeing some of your comments on a blog that was rightfully mocking you, and really, it\’s like I accidently stumbled onto little green footballs.  And that isn\’t a compliment.

Here are some examples from just the past two days.  There are much more, but why waste the effort?

Hmmmmm. Si’ hablah este’ confusiono. Any particular reason this “beaner out”

Oh…I did notice a Mexican funeral procession on my way out there…..and it had moved only about a block when I was returning.

Perhaps only one set of jumper cables?

some of my best friends are roofers and pool cleaners

None of these are in any way \’not racist\’.  Sorry.  Not much you can say otherwise.

  18. – “Racist”. Ahh yes. Try for a second to push back against people who are here “ILLEGALY”, but never the less DEMANDING THIER CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, will immediately be branded as racist. When all else fails play the race warfare card. Bullshit.

    – Bottom line on yesterday. 80% less junk car/Broom truck traffic. State saves who knows how much money in unpaid social handouts. Looks like something that might be good too do 2 or 3 days every week.

  19. B Moe says:

None of these are in any way \’not racist\’.  Sorry.  Not much you can say otherwise.

Actually, there is quite a bit I could say otherwise, but you apparently aren’t interested in dialogue, and why waste time on people who don’t know the meaning of the words they are using anyway.

  20. – And a note to “McCarthy was wrong”. Your compadres among your rally leaders had better get some smarts quick. Everyone in America, with the exception of Native American indians, is an immigrent in one way or another. so theres no way you can claim that Americans are racist or anti-immigrent. Demonizing America and openly mocking our right to secire our borders is a bad move, particularly because the reason you do it is you don’t have the stones to hold your own graft riddled countries/governments responsible for your plight. Why aren’t you busy writing angry letters to your El Presidente’ Fox, who obviously doesn’t give a damn about his own people. You do it because you know Americans are not goin to burn your ass, even when you break our laws.

And just to make it complete you call people racist that have to clean up their garbage cans strewn in their yards, put up with undocumenteds sleeping behind their garages, and send their kids to school with an armed guard. That have to watch the state go broke year after year, trying to support the mob of illegals flooding across the border, when they themselves, legal citizens that pay their taxes, are denied sevices from bankrupted social programs. Total freeking bullshit.

    – If you want sympathy for your cause, stop biting the hand that feeds you.

  21. sen_mccarthy_was_wrong says:

but you apparently aren’t interested in dialogue

I don\’t recall saying that.  Please direct me to where I stated I wasn\’t interested in dialogue.  Otherwise, why post comments at all, other than to excoriate?

and why waste time on people who don’t know the meaning of the words they are using anyway

That seems like a convenient and flippant way to dismiss what I have to say without actually addressing it.  I have a very strong command of the English language, thank you very much.

particularly because the reason you do it is you don’t have the stones to hold your own graft riddled countries/governments responsible for your plight. Why aren’t you busy writing angry letters to your El Presidente’ Fox, who obviously doesn’t give a damn about his own people.

I stated before that I am an American citizen.  You are so blinded by your obvious biases that you didn\’t see that.

And perhaps \’racist\’ is too strong a word for you to stomach, so let\’s use a different word – biased.  You are biased.  Does that feel better now?

put up with undocumenteds sleeping behind their garages, and send their kids to school with an armed guard

Thank you for the stereotypes.  Since there is such a dirth of white bums in America, and since the majority of school shootings keep involving disgruntled white boys, I would have to say you are revealing your biased opinions that are not based in fact.

Have you ever personally asked the hospital staff at your local hospital what the percentage of hospital services uninsured illegals receive?  I doubt you have.  You will find that there is no correlation between race and not having insurance.  Immigrants for a large part pay their taxes – ever heard of the sales tax?  Plus, if they were to report their taxes to uncle sam, they make so little it would never be taxed!

Your generalizations about immigrants reveal your true issues.  Every post you make digs the hole deeper and shows more and more your true thoughts.  I don\’t attribute these to Mr. Goldstein, but I don\’t see him denouncing any of the things I illucidated in my earlier post.

  22. B Moe says:

Not much you can say otherwise.

That is not exactly asking for dialogue, but you should know that given your command of the language.

And perhaps \’racist\’ is too strong a word for you to stomach, so let\’s use a different word – biased.  You are biased.  Does that feel better now?

Racist is not too strong for me to stomach, it is the wrong fucking word.  Biased is more appropriate, or bigotted.  Humorless is also a good word, as is hair shirt, demogogue and martyr.

  23. “Thank you for the stereotypes.”

    – Come’on down to So Cal and I’ll introduce you to some choice examples of stereotypes Sparky.

    – Just got to love morons that pop off at the mouth with no personal experience. Living room ludites.

    – As usual the preferred approach to every problem with the typical Liberal is to “pretend” it isn’t there, worry more about textual PC, and generally sit on their Marxist asses pondering and casting personal assignations against anyone that really tries to engage the problems, hoping it will all go away. Morons.

    McCarthy was wrong,

In California this is our plight:

    1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

    2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

    3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

    4. Over 2/3’s of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

    5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

    6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

    7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

    8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

    9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.

    10. In L.A.County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million speak Spanish (10.2 million people in L.A.County).

(All 10 from the Los Angeles Times)

    Thank you sir…..

  25. – Shhhhhh Todd. Musn’t say anything. Just sit there as a tax paying legal citizen, except you have no rights anymore, and shut up, or some bleeding heart fucking Liberal will call you a racist.

  26. TODD says:

    BBH

Too late, the label has been placed and now I must live with my shame.  Oh by the way , nice drive home last night no traffic and all…..

  27. Sigivald says:

It would have been more impressive if you’d been holding one of these.

Ammo belts are useless by themselves, you know.
