From Reuters:
Ben Nelson of Nebraska on Tuesday became the first Senate Democrat to announce his support of conservative Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, who is expected to be confirmed later this month by the full Republican-led Senate.
“I have decided to vote in favor of Judge Samuel Alito,” Nelson, a moderate, said in a statement issued by his office.
“I came to this decision after careful consideration of his impeccable judicial credentials, the American Bar Association’s strong recommendation and his pledge that he would not bring a political agenda to the court,” Nelson said.
The Senate Judiciary Committee, which held Alito’s confirmation hearing last week, is expected to send President George W. Bush’s nomination of Alito to the full Senate next week for anticipated confirmation.
Reached for comment, Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) noted that, while he was “slighted disappointed” by Sentor Nelson’s “hasty decision to throw his hick-State’s representative support behind a uterus-scrambling wannabe negro lyncher with a frumpy, dour, crybaby wife,” he nevertheless “respected the distinguished Gentleman from Nebraska for having the sense not to try to show up at any of Teddy Kennedy’s house parties ever ever ever ever ever ever ever again.”

Fuckin’ Braniac.
SB: young
and dumb
What I want to know is who the fuck votes for Schumer in the first place? I hope that, if the terrorists do manage to set off a nuke, it is right in the heart of “Schumer Country”. Talk about making your skin crawl…
In other news, Ben Nelson of Nebraska is preparing his re-election campaign for Senator. Sen. Nelson is up for re-election in 2006.
Coincidence?
It’s not because of re-election. His GOP challenger this year is a no name with no shot at winning and Nebraska senators are pretty much set in office until they retire or die.
Nelson’s one of the good guys. If most Dems were like him the GOP wouldn’t stand a chance of ever getting my vote. He’s better liked by NE Republicans than their Republican senator. Granted, that’s Chuck Hagel, but still.
He also looks a lot like the dad from The Wonder Years.
