Fifth victim of Chattanooga terrorist attack, Navy logistics specialist Randall Smith, dies [Darleen Click]

This morning

The U.S. Navy says that the sailor who was shot earlier this week at a military support center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has died.

The death was announced Saturday, two days after a shooting in Chattanooga killed four Marines and injured three others, including the sailor.

The Navy statement did not give the sailor’s name. But he was earlier identified as Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith, a reservist serving on active duty in Chattanooga.

Smith’s grandmother also confirmed his death to NewsChannel 9.

We will need another place setting.

    Gestures.

One would expect gestures in GestureWorld. How about a gesture to begin to impeach the traitorous President of the United States? Any serious actual deed to repair the damage done must begin somewhere. Start with something useful.

Investigators have found no information that alleged Chattanooga, Tennessee, shooter Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez was “either inspired, directed, or assisted by individuals associated with an identified designated foreign terrorist organization,” and his motivation “remains unknown,” according to a bulletin sent to law enforcement agencies, sources tell ABC News.

Abdulazeez was a devout Muslim but didn’t appear to be radical, according to some who knew him. He was born in Kuwait but became a naturalized American citizen.

Jordanian sources said Abdulazeez had been in Jordan as recently as 2014 visiting an uncle. He had also visited Kuwait and Jordan in 2010, Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said.

A longtime friend said Abdulazeez changed after spending time in the Middle East and “distanced himself” for the first few months after returning to Tennessee.

“Something happened over there,” Abdulrazzak Brizada told CNN, saying, “he never became close to me like he was before he went overseas… I’m sure he had something that happened to him overseas.”

Nothing to see here move along, move along. We must preserve the narrative of the true evil in society.

The issue isn’t gun-free zones; it is free-for-all gun zones, which decades of lax firearms laws have produced all over the country. In an America held hostage by the gun lobby, radicalized lone-wolf terrorists can get their hands on deadly weapons and mountains of ammunition just as easily as disturbed post-adolescents, delusional military subcontractors, virulent racists, and anybody else.

If the initial reports about Abdulazeez’s radicalization prove accurate, this will be the second attack in three months attempted by heavily armed homegrown Islamists.

    […]

In the past sixty years, the laxity of this country’s gun laws has survived just about everything: Presidential assassinations and attempted assassinations, drug wars, gang wars, cops getting shot, children accidentally shooting themselves or their parents, an epidemic of gun suicides, workplace massacres, mall massacres, theatre massacres, school massacres, and even church massacres. Now, we have another deadly phenomenon that highlights the dangers of ready access to firearms: the rise of domestically grown Islamist terrorists.

Freedom is always the problem and government control is always the solution.
