– The fact that the Prof stammered and tried to bullshit his way out of the corner he was in, as well as his ludicrous answers to the questions should tell you everything you need to know of why the Progressive Democrats being in charge of a dog pound would be a freeking disaster, let alone running the country.
– They not only do not see how stupid their crackpot ideas are, they actually believe they’re right. The very definition of savant idiots.
– A special prosecutor is in the works, and the Dems are slow rolling for all they’re worth trying to run out the clock so Bumblefuck escapes any consequences for what he most assuredly was a part of.
– BTW, if you could clone some of what Gowdy has into every Republican Rep and Senator the Dems would never win a single seat in either house, and if they did they couldn’t get a cow bell passed.
Gowdy seems a very fine lawyer who has managed in some significant measure to overcome that handicap to learn to think more broadly. Such combinations are quite rare, to little surprise.
I want the Dems to run out the clock on the Obama Administration, and the new GOP President to start appointing the special prosecutors once Obama no longer has the Pardon Pen to rely on.
It would be fun to watch him getting his ass hauled before Congressional investigators and getting some answers under oath and on the record. If Obama starts pardoning the underlings, they no longer have to worry about being thrown in jail, immunity is guaranteed, and they can no longer allow the Fifth Amendment protections to allow them to refuse to answer questions.
The only real question is whether Obama will dare to pardon himself, which is by no means a guaranteed occurrence, since the courts have never ruled on such an extraordinary circumstance.
An interesting legal citation in the case of Presidential Pardons — Burdick v United States (1915), where it was determined that there was a “confession of guilt implied in the acceptance of a pardon,” and that a person insisting on his rights can refuse a Pardon because of that included implication.
And this proves once and for all in demonstration quite clear for all to see for all time, that when presented with troublesome hair, cut it off, and you will authenticate your rectitude and naturalize your gravitas instantly.
Because I’m almost always eventually disappointed in the people we sometimes consider the next great hope, I’ll limit my enthusiasm. But Gowdy and Sessions are two representatives who really seem to get it.
More, please.
The significant persons — persons such as Nancy Pelosi — are those who are comfortable telling the Americans what they want (the DREAM act) when the Americans say otherwise. One can only imagine the greatness of that deity which confers such confidence in the breast of those significant ones, like Pelosi, a deity with the power to outstrip all the deeds and desires of these lowly insignificant mortals who would make to oppose its word.
*** It could be even worse. In Vietnam, still run by the Communist Party, the very selective national university is offering free tuition to anyone who signs up for the university’s curriculum in Marxism. They’ve had to offer free tuition because no students have been signing up for these courses. I can’t help but be amused that the market-clearing price for courses in radical philosophy is lower in a Communist university than in American higher education. ***
It’s interesting that we have quotes of the words of Rep. Marino in the exchange but none of what Pelosi said, except what Marino reported, seems to have been picked up by any mic or reported by those who had to have heard it.
Sdferr, that Hayward piece you linked is interesting for much more than what you have quoted. It is one of the first times I’ve seen a look into the why/how of the progressive/socialist takeover of much of the academe. Nudging has a long history.

Oh, but on the contrary geoffb, we have from “Pelosi spokeswoman Evangeline George,” a testament to the critical core of Pelosi’s view [with my emphases here]: “Leader Pelosi just wanted to remind the Congressman that House Democrats had the courage to pass the DREAM Act – and have the courage to stand up for what the American people want: bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform.”
Where we can read the verb “remind” in its true sense — “rewrite”.
It seems to me that a half century of liberal takeover and indoctrination of the education system has resulted not only in winning many converts to their viewpoints, but also in effectively cowing the populace into little or no resistance against a flood of attacks on our laws, constitution, and way of life on all levels.
Fast and Furious, the IRS scandal, Benghazi, a president who ignores the rule of law, congress, and the constitution whenever it suits him; where is the resistance?
Where is the outrage. Things unimaginable in our own lifetimes are now daily happenings.
And they continue with impunity.
Back when Rep. Gowdy was first appointed to his Chairmanship, I saw him on the “Charlie Rose” interview show on the local Progressive (née Public) Broadcasting System station. Needless to say, Mr. Rose was not amused. His obvious attempts to mitigate Rep. Gowdy’s commitment to getting to the bottom of the IRS mess met their deserved demise. I can still remember the look on Mr. Rose’s face when he realized that his lunch was being had by his guest.
And, in a reference to one of my favorite Bible stories, I would like to nominate Rep. Gowdy for this year’s “Jesus in the Temple” award.
heh. Back when Charlie Rose was still early on the rise as a star in the Public Broadcasting firmament, I grilled his lunch — a whole black sea-bass — when he came to eat (with great anticipation by the staff) at the seafood trattoria in DC where I worked. No thought of fooling with his food crossed my mind. Nor anyone else’s, for that matter.
I’d almost move into Gowdy’s district just so I could vote for him. But we have Jeff Duncan as our rep and he’s almost as good as Trey Gowdy. With the exception of Lindsey Graham and James Clyburn, we have a good bunch of representatives in the great state of South Carolina.

There’s a name for the crime the insignificant representative has committed, by the way. It’s called Lèse-majesté.

Geoffb; that is pretty conveniant, isn’t it?
Not that I’m implying anything like a selective, biased media here. Noooo!!!

Look around.
We’re it. And there’s not too damned many of us either, it seems. So we’ve got quite the job on our hands.
