Revelations over “discrepencies” in Brown’s resume likely gave Bush an excuse to remove the beleagured head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency from national firestorm.
Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff will announce a new leader for on-the-ground Katrina relief efforts.
Slightly OT.
Roemer might have a point. Carter does have some experience with a hammer – you know, with all of his Habitat for Humanity work.
Well, I think we finally found something that the WH can legitimately be criticized for.
That’s not a person in the whole friggin place with a pair of balls bigger than raisins.
They’re incapable of defending themselves and their policies as far as I can tell.
They should come at the press loaded for bear. Every goddamn day.
We’ve seen the same thing over Iraq.
Instread they sit there and take crap from the incompetent and malicious f’tards in the press.
They need a bloody press sec with a pair the size of watermelons that can put these twits in their place each and every day.
I’m sick of this crap.
Plus he can get help from his buddies Fidel and Hugo.
Ugh.
As somebody noted in the above thread, this takes attention away from Blanco’s admissions that she was clueless.
And in fact, that’s exactly what’s happened. The media just likes the story of controversy and intrigue. They think this is Watergate.
When really, if they had any sense and wanted a Watergate, they’d expose Blanco for the incompetent boob she is. Instead, it’s all Brown, all the time—with agit prop coming from shills like Sullivan, attempting to assert that blame is to be evenly distributed.
Indicative of some culpability on FEMA’s part? Or just a symbolic lynching (masked behind/justified by the resume discrepancies) to appease the whiners and stabilize the political situation?
Symbolic lynching.
…especially since Brown wasn’t fired. He just went back to Washington to help oversee efforts for Hurricane Ophelia.
He probably will be handed his hat some time after the hurricane season, though.
Of course, FEMA was already in the beginnings of a major reorganization before any of this happened. Nobody seems to know this, though. (For more on this, see my blog).
That’s the problem, me, this won’t appease or stabilize anything. It will only take the mainstream coverage in a different direction and no closer the the truth.
yeah, i’ve mentioned it elsewhere, but Brown had to be approved by congress. i have my crack research team on it as far as finding the vote breakdown. so far i’ve got part of the hearing from the committee headed up by Sen. Lieberman.
tw: but, it’s all chimpy’s fault for not vetting him enough. oh, wait….
And they put a Coast Guard admiral in charge.
Good choice, the Coast Guard being an example of a first responder Federal Agency that specializes in rescue work in horrendous conditions.
I dunno—yesterday, AP/CNN floated a trial meme that Brown was being used by the Bush admin as a scapegoat. Does this mean it won’t fly, or will fly all the better?
