I think many of us who’ve been refusing to let the Benghazi story go have had nagging questions from the get-go about the way the consulate was approached by terrorists (without the heavier fire power they were later to employ against the CIA) and the way the Ambassador was killed — with several stories pointing out that Libyans were actively trying to save him, as (supposedly) evidenced by cell phone pictures of his body being dragged through a crowd.
Rumors of Stevens being involved in brokering arms deals, etc., have circulated on line. His meeting with the Turks remains unexplained. And now, a story is floating around that the intended capture of Stevens, followed by his brokered return, was to serve as an October surprise.
So let me say this in advance: the idea that a hostage swap plan was being put in play between the Egyptians and Morsi (who was demanding the return of the Omar Abdel-Rahman) and the Administration, brokered through Clinton’s State Dept in advance of the 2012 presidential elections, doesn’t make sense to me politically. Or rather, it seems incredibly risky, both because of the number of people who would need to be involved (and so would be forced to maintain secrecy) and because I’m not so sure Obama’s having “secured” the life of an American ambassador in exchange for a noted terrorist would have played well at all here at home, politically or otherwise: first, it would set a terrible precedent, and second, it would show weakness and a decided lack of preparedness — not to mention, highlight (as it has subsequently) that the current Administration won’t even correctly and publicly identify the enemy.
But then, I’m not a left-wing radical, and honestly, I don’t much know what the State Dept and the Administration were thinking, either in the maneuverings that removed Stevens’ security, or in the attempt to blame the incident on a YouTube video. As to why Obama went to sleep after being told of the initial attack? I use Occam’s Razor: he’s lazy, and he doesn’t much give a fuck. Besides, he wanted to be rested for his time with Beyonce.
So who knows at this point?
For those of you interested in how the dots can be connected, Doug Ross has the details.
i agree about the special prosecutor part
It would certainly be interesting to hear from the State Dept. security people at the Embassy compound (there are five survivors, right?) what they were thinking when they could not find a trace of Stevens. What message did they send to alert State he’d gone missing? What actions did they take to find him — past the futile searches in the burned out main building? How did they think about the disappearance? Did they think he’d been abducted? Or wandered off?
But from these men, security detail professionals each of them, who, after all, were themselves occasionally hunkering down under fire that night, nothing. Not a public word. It’s as if they were swallowed by the night. Now who’s disappeared?
Anyone who believes there will be any consequences for the Obama administration from Benghazi, raise your hand.
Note that my hand is not raised.
This is a post-constitutional republic. The people are no longer represented. The government has no checks on its behavior whatsoever.
It surprises me that they still go through the motions. Obama could dictate whatever he wants and no one would stop him.
i agree Mr. cranky I don’t see this moving the dial but there’s still the outside chance this could damage that Clinton woman
not likely but it’s possible
Hitler considered diplomats to be expendable.
Anyway, what a great idea for a new program. Rather than arms for hostages, diplomats for terrorists.
What could possibly go wrong?
Anyone else pleased to note that 29% of the voting public is under no illusions about our country? 29% of voters think armed rebellion may be needed in the next few years in order to protect our rights.

Obama to College Students: ‘Reject These Voices’ That Warn of Big Government & Tyranny
Collateral damage, at this point.
Besides, it’s not going to be Hillary in 2016, but Liz Warren.
If you want to see big government and tyranny, take a fucking look around you. It’s here already.
that’s good cause Liz Warren is beatable I think
the “cherokee” nation will be there for liz
What tyranny?
More importantly, so will the entire Professional Left, who never did trust Hillary to begin with.
That’s why I think it’ll be Liz Warren – She’s a “true believer”.
“You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can’t be trusted.”
Yeah kids, the last thing you want to do is read that lying French bastard Alexis de Tocqueville! He can’t possibly be trusted, nor taken seriously. Reject him for your savior ObaZma.
– IMHO I think the smoking gun is the gun running to the Syrian rebels. After all, look how well it worked in Mexico.
– Obama has shown to be a two faced war happy hypocrite, presenting a peacenik face for his antiwar base while playing Drone commando, and it wouldn’t do for his brain dead useful idiots to see him in yet another war adventure activity. The Lefturds for their part are more than willing to look the other way, as long as his BS doesn’t become common public knowledge. Hence the cover up, plus slick Willy is offstage making threats for Hillery.
– Too many people to fit under the bus, so the wheels will come off eventually.
First time I’ve seen outside of the two pieces I referenced back in October that the terrorists set up roadblocks/checkpoints around the “mission” around 8 pm local time and did so before the Turkish official left the “mission” at 8:30 pm. which would seem to point to Turkish knowledge of what was going down.
Was it because he (i.e., Stevens) was a lesbian?
The confusion and chaos that reigned at the just below top levels was purposeful (and if it had worked “brilliant”). It allowed the “plan” to go forward and also was a foil for the calm strong response planned for as Obama rescues Stevens with quick sure-footed negotiations. Such a man would then be the perfect one to negotiate the final solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conundrum, quite finally.
speaking of crazy theories i netflixed a movie last night it’s called John Dies at the End
i fell asleep in the middle but it was surprisingly good and more or less sharply written and very engaging – surprising cause of it’s a Don Coscarelli film and mostly the only thing I ever got out of his work is I think he helped round out my understanding of the 70s a little I think
Mr. Coscarelli (Phantasm) probably owes this guy a lot for the success of the film though – he’s a talented kid and he pulls off a lot of tricky scenes with charm to spare
the other thing about it is it has Clancy Brown in it – he’s that Ohio boy what comes from a distinguished Republican family – him and Chase worked together again on this, which hasn’t been released yet
the sequel: “john dies at the middle”
– There’s a version that allows you to choose when John dies, so you don’t miss it because you had to go…… to the John.

Muslim Student Association Doesn’t Get Credit for Soccer League Sponsorship
We need a short, understandable slogan for the LIV crowd.
I propose:
Obama went to bed, our people got dead!
For me to hate this administration more I’d need a second heart…
