   Resisting Arrest. The go to charge when a cop doesn’t have squat or the DA wants to pile on charges so you’ll take a plea and let him off the hook.

   Resisting Arrest has practically NO objective standards. It’s all in how the cop FEELS about how you’re acting. You could look cross eyed at him and be considered “resisting arrest”. Or threatening. (which in this case, I’m surprised they didn’t charge him with that too.)

   Hope this soldier can keep from being tempted by a plea bargain so it goes to court.

   BTW. I appreciate those LE that do their jobs without animus or aggression. Many face a daily onslaught of stupidity and criminality. That said however, there are way too many cops who operate on the edge all the time and any resistance at surrender and passive acceptance of any insults or aggression by the cops is met with indignant and righteous assault almost instantly by these kind of cops. It doesn’t matter if your response is the result of them miscommunicating to you what they’re about or by them misinterpreting something you’ve done or said. YOU ARE A PERP and will be treated accordingly.

   It’s the old Hammer looking for a nail thing. Too many in LE shouldn’t be there.
