For two days now, Alan Colmes has been pushing the angle that because Supreme Court nominee John Roberts is a “partisan,” he should be excluded from the High Court.
Because he’s a partisan. Meaning, because he’s a Republican. Meaning that, for Colmes, at least, a Republican President—if he wishes to proffer a viable nominee—need find someone who has either no political leanings (do such creatures exist?), or else nominate someone who holds politcal beliefs antithetical to the President’s own.
Like, say, a Democrat.
In order to be “fair.”
Let that sink in for a moment. Me, I’m going to go bang my head against a wall.

Its tough to act stupid enough to make the show Hannity and Colmes look balanced … but Colmes is up to the challenge.
Colmes is a real wienersnork.
My only problem with him is that he talks so rapidly that I don’t have time to give each silly declaration the good laugh it deserves.
I think it’s BECAUSE OF THE HAIR DYE!
If we are required to accept the liberal positions on the big issues as eternal verities (all in the name of “taking politics out of the process”), then any dissent will certainly be partisan.
“Middle”, as in that Nineties song that goes “There’s got to be somethin’ better than in the middle.”
Wait a minute, who is Colmes again?
heheheheh
Now, why on Earth would you listen to anything Alan Colmes has to say? Banging your head against the wall is certainly a better use of your time.
Colmes is like the Washington Generals, always doomed to lose in the closing seconds to the Harlem Globetrotters.
But when he said this, did he say “PART-iz-zuhn” or “Par-ti-ZAHN”? Because maybe he was accusing Judge Roberts of being one of those Yugoslavian guerillas who fought with General Tito. And for a post of this importance, shouldn’t he have to prove that he never has been to Sarajevo? Shouldn’t he?!?
HOW DARE YOU QUESTION HIS PATRIOTISM!
Could he have said “Paula Zahn”?
OMG John Roberts is a transvestite!
He dresses like Paula Zahn!
Is that better or worse than being a Corporate Lawyer I wonder?
Wall At Jeff’s House: Damn. How many times have I told him to change the channel when Colmes comes on? Now look what he’s done to the paint job. Gonna be WEEKS before this gets fixed…….
After Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been so impressed with Colmes’s seemingly irrefutable logic that she resigns her seat on the Court, apologizes for having accepted the appointment in the first place given her “partisan” background, and urges the remaining members to promptly reverse every opinion she ever wrote, then we’ll talk.
Until then, we’re sticking it in and breaking it off.
My head hurts too, and my wall is a mess. Anyone who thinks Bush would nominate a liberal-leaning person is just too dumb for this planet. So far this guy looks good & right (pun-intended), and not scary enough to keep me up at night. (Bush’s jaw thing already does that).
The grip stared at Alan Colmes, then at the five-pound tuna he held by the tail, then back again, unbelievingly, at Colmes.
“I gotta get a bigger tuna!” he muttered…
Linsey Graham, of all people, made Alan Colmes look like an idiot today without breaking a sweat. I’m glad I saw it because I usually turn the channel when either of them are on; they are scary-looking.

Interestingly, I’ve been very-recently opining [though not as much as I’d like to…] about Hannity, with regard to the Roberts nomination. This is the second day that I’ve shut off the radio during his program, while a RINO was on the air. I actually told a co-worker yesterday, after just finding out that he is also a conservative, that among the prominent liberal commentator out there, it seems that Alan Colmes is perhaps the most sensible. I think that Dr. Lyman also implicitly expressed that type of sentiment. And any left-wing television commentator who goes on The 700 Club, and is interviewed on television by the Rev. Pat Robertson, can’t be all that bad…
Earl Warren never would have been appointed to the court if Colmes’ rule had been in effect; he was a former Republican govenor.
The big news here is that Alan has switched his passion for Anne Coulter to Paula Zhan. While there are some similarities between the two, I think Zhan is more likely to bite his head off after sex. Or no sex.
Jeff…I know it sounds weird man but listen. You hate Hannity right? mmm’k… and Colmes makes you do nasty things to your head
Jeff’s Wall: aHEM
…and your wall (giving a look)… I’ve got a radical idea…turn off your TV for awhile. Too far? Okay, okay, easy now…how ‘bout just turning off Fox News for a few days…give it a try…fine, fine, Brit Hume is the exception, but you MUST change the channel RIGHT after Special Report.
Personally, I almost entirely blame Colmes for my defection from the Donks in the late 90s. All that whining about how mean everyone was being to President Clinton…
Ummm, Jeff? Colmes is correct on this one, I’m afraid.
You see, Alan is using the prevailing ‘chickenhawk’ logic whereby only those that directly participate in something, or those that firmly oppose it, are allowed to opine about it. So choosing a new Supreme means only the other 8 justices combined with the bulk of the American left (and including the rest of the American-hating world) may participate in this selection process. As the elected leader, Bush has a vested interest in making a decision that favors America and thus he must be excluded from the process. Only those who don’t care, actively want to destroy, or are currently serving may have a voice.
Chickenhawk logic huzzah and the constitutional process be damned.
Do you think the Dems will let Roberts go by without too much fuss, since the court will still be 5-4 on Roe, so that, if Bush does have the opportunity to pick a justice that will change the balance, they can unload on him, and say “We’re not being obstructionist. Look, we let Roberts on without a fight?”
Ain’t no tuna big enough to mark up that face. Smack him upside the head with a redwood tree (preferably one in which a spotted owl has nested).
Jeff, I want to personally thank you for validating my decision to never watch “Hannity and Colmes” ever again. And at such a cost to your forehead…I salute you!
Personally I always found Colmes extremely annoying and irritating to my ears. But his comments on Judge Roberts are so “partisan” that he is lucky his name is not Pinocchio.
