Ok, I’ll help. First tell me – what is an RSS?

(spam word -maybe – as in maybe you shouldn’t listen to me.)

  2. Jeff Goldstein says:

It’s the feed for syndicating the site.  I think.  Hell, I don’t know, either.

  3. Carin says:

I thought your wife fixed these things for you?

  4. Jeff Goldstein says:

    She’s stumped.

I am having no problem reading your feed.  In fact, I am commenting because I saw this post in my reader.  Hmmm.

Anyway, the one I am using is:  https://www.proteinwisdom.com/index.php/weblog/rss_atom/

    Here’s what I get:

    from SharpReader:

Error parsing RSS XML: Not a valid xml document: The XML declaration is unexpected. Line 2, position 3.

    from feedvalidator.org:

    Sorry

    This feed does not validate.

Feeds should not be served with the “text/html” media type [help]

Your feed appears to be encoded as “utf-8”, but your server is reporting “US-ASCII” [help]

line 2, column 0: XML parsing error: <unknown>:2:0: xml declaration not at start of external entity [help]

    <?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”utf-8″?>

  7. RC says:

After looking at the feedvalidator.org output a little more it looks like you may have illegal line breaks in the line that starts as:

    <feed version=”0.3″

It actually shows this as line 3 with each following element as it’s own line so that one declaration ends up looking like 4 lines.

Since I know diddly about xml and rss feeds maybe this is allowable use of whitespace, but it’s the only other suspect bit I’ve seen.

Trying to get hold of my son – I’ll have him look.

    It works! It works!

    Thanks for your perseverance.

Thank my wife.  The problem was with the software, so she got a developer for Expression Engine to look at it.
