“Rep. Rogers slams State Department for Pakistan ads denouncing anti-Islamic film”

FOX:

A leading House Republican criticized the Obama administration Sunday for running ads in Pakistan denouncing the anti-Islamic film that allegedly sparked violent and deadly protests across the Middle East and North Africa, calling the roughly $70,000 project a “horrible idea.”

“I think it was a horrible idea,” said Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. “It gave credibility and it gave a permission slip to Al Qaeda, to Pakistani officials.”

The ad features President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton denouncing the 14-minute Internet film trailer “The Innocence of Muslims,” purportedly by South California filmmaker Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.

The State Department reportedly paid seven Pakistani stations to run the ad.

“I don’t know who gave them the advice,” Rogers said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “It was horrible advice. It has exacerbated the situation.”

See, once again, a mainstream Republican misunderstands the very situation he attempts to critique, and in so doing, he fails to hit upon the gist of the problem.  “The situation” for Rogers, Republicans, some Democrats, and many Americans who aren’t even terribly political active, is that our government has sold out our First Amendment for a expedient, placating nod to Islamist blasphemy laws, a sop to creeping sharia they’d earlier supported in the UN — and in so doing, have emboldened our enemies and inevitably signaled a weakness on the part of the US that could further inflame and destabilize an already tenuous parts of the world.

But that’s not “the situation” as it exists either politically or strategically to the Marxist left running this country right now.  Instead, the Obama / Hillary / transnational progressivist coalition wants destabilization.  These are the “bumps in the road” that need some technocratic flattening before a smooth paved highway to Utopian one-worldism can be successfully laid, and its leaders free to begin Paradise with a clean slate.  More, the very campaign of denial and apologia is looking, in the run-up to the November elections, to deflect blame from this Administration’s own foreign policy — built to embolden revolution and destabilization in those regions of the world (how else to clear away the remnants of American and Western colonialism / imperialism that have so long plagued the noble freedom fighters of the middle east) — onto a pre-planned scapegoat, who now has an bounty on his head placed there by an official of Pakistan, purportedly a US ally.

It is sickening, is what it is. And it is downright anti-American.

But worst of all, it is being done intentionally.  Not each individual attack or instance of destabilization, mind; just the creation of the conditions under which these things must almost inexorably transpire.

To fundamentally transform, you must first fundamentally dismantle.

The arrogant transnational left believes it is using the Islamist barbarians to its own ends, while the Islamists are playing the same game of chess with their leftist ally of convenience in the West.

I hope they both fail. And if they don’t, I hope we finally gather the collective national stones to insist that they do.

They’re certifiably insane. Not only because they’re willing to pull down our civilization in the hopes of raising from the ashes a new and improved version in their own image, but also because they seem to believe that all of us hicks in flyover country will just stand by and let it happen. Out here, we have guns and good neighbors and farmland and energy sources and enough people who remember and respect the old America to defend those old unfashionable values.

Good luck with your cities full of paper-pushers, hipsters, and welfare cheats. How long ’til the lights go dark and the food runs out? What happens then?

At the risk of drawing the ire of the perpetually aggrieved: I hope they fail.

    Dead solid perfect, Jeff.

The Transnational Progressivist Coalition possesses enough low-cunning to know it can’t control the whole of the world at this point, so it is willing to encourage fellow Totalitarians [Fascist Russia, Red China, Islam] in their ambitions for dominance in their spheres of influence because it will, the TPC’s believe, much easier for them to proceed with their plans if they are only dealing with empires that are cut from the same cloth, as it were.

They want to bring Orwell’s Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia to the Real World.

[I don’t know if I posted this theory before in another PW post; if so, apologies everyone.]

Squid: Thankfully for our side, the TPC, the Left, is not as wise and smart as they think they are.

They’ve been brainwashed to believe that individuality can be crushed.

They have no clue as what the Human Soul is made of, that there will always be those who resist being enslaved. The bastards couldn’t break men like Solzhenitsyn – they learned nothing from his story.

As an addendum to my first comment, Mark Steyn:

And I think it’s interesting to me that that is where the left and radical Islam meet, in that they both accept the legitimacy of severe restraints on individual liberty. And that is why, when people say well wait a minute, how come the left have wound up making common cause with anti-gay, anti-feminist, anti-everything you dig theocrats, well, the reason is because they’re both comfortable with state power in the cause of restraining individual liberty. And people say well, that’s a bit unfair on these nice, progressive lefties. Well, sorry, but the president of the United States has just confirmed that in the last couple of weeks.

    The New York Times:

President Hosni Mubarak did not even wait for President Obama’s words to be translated before he shot back.

“You don’t understand this part of the world,” the Egyptian leader broke in. “You’re young.”

Mr. Obama, during a tense telephone call the evening of Feb. 1, 2011, had just told Mr. Mubarak that his speech, broadcast to hundreds of thousands of protesters in Tahrir Square in Cairo, had not gone far enough. Mr. Mubarak had to step down, the president said.

Minutes later, a grim Mr. Obama appeared before hastily summoned cameras in the Grand Foyer of the White House. The end of Mr. Mubarak’s 30-year rule, Mr. Obama said, “must begin now.” With those words, Mr. Obama upended three decades of American relations with its most stalwart ally in the Arab world, putting the weight of the United States squarely on the side of the Arab street.

    Yes, the NYT.

h/t Insty via Powerline who find this Obama’s meglomania.

I guess abortion and illegal immigration will just have to take a back seat.

    – Divisive issue? There has to be some way to stop this maniac and his WH cabal.

    – Would that be “until after the elections” next spring?:

“….But the senators don’t want to wait for the board to finish its report, which might not be transmitted to Congress until next spring.”

    – Why the fuck don’t they just convene a house hearing and haul Hillery’s ass in front of it. Obama can take some more EP and then they can subpeonie her and won’t that look great as we near election time. Fast and Furious redux, but with more and better criminal actions.

    Shirley you jest.

I did hear mutterings today about a conspiracy, though. Maybe something’s in the offing.

    – Well Leigh, now that they’ve managed to threaten a few underlings to fall on their swords to cover Holders ass on F&F, whats Issa doing these days?
