“When we said that Steve King … is pro-life and believes in cutting Social Security and voted for the Ryan budget, no one cared,” Arnold said. “When we said Steve King’s a racist, Steve King believes that immigrants ought to be put in electric fences, people moved.”
“When you talk about the substance of a man’s character, people respond,” Arnold continued. “Believe it or not, that is not something politicians knew.”
Oh, I think some of them have figured it out, there, Mudcat.
Speaking of Stephen King (the writer) I threw all my Stephen King books in the trash. the man is an idiot and I’m sick of his stupid shit talk. I’m sick of his books that are creppy for reasons other than he intends (like “It” ending with a 12 year old girl sealing a pact to return to fight a shape changing psychic murder spider if it ever comes back by putting out for her three male friends one after the other). And upon a second reading, The Stand wasn’t really that good.

Well nothing seals the deal like pulling a train palaeomerus.
I read a lot of fantasy fiction in jr. high and high school. So I checked out a copy of The Eyes of the Dragon (great title, btw) from the library, and when I opened it and saw the opening line began with “Once upon a time,” I promptly closed it and returned it to the library.
And that’s my experience with Stephen King.
Other than going to see Pet Semetary because I really wanted into this blond girls pants when I was seventeen.
Oh, I think I passed him while crossing the street in San Jose one time. Hard to be sure.
Tried to read The Stand once, didn’t get far. Don’t think I’ve read anything else by Stephen King. But I did enjoy Arnold Schwarzenegger and Richard Dawson in The Running Man, which I think is based on a Stephen King novel.

“creppy” is a typo but since it combines creepy with crappy I think I’ll just add it to my vocabulary.
In other news, water is wetter than sand.
I stopped reading anything Stephen King wrote after “It”, too. I had had him figured for a pedophile for quite a while, but that sealed the deal.
