“Shep Smith Makes Apparent Slam Of Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day As ‘National Day Of Intolerance’”

Won’t somebody on CNN or ABC or NBC or CBS please hire this needy, bug-eyed freak away from FOX already? I mean, hasn’t he done enough to prove to you guys that he’s on the side of goodness and righteousness — that, unlike those other guys at FOX, he’s very appropriately intolerant of intolerance?

— And by that, I of course mean he’ll tow whatever PC line needs towing, so long as he can have the acceptance from you he so desperately craves?

Pretty please?

Just listen to what he’s saying, offhandedly, cavalierly, sneeringly: being Christian is being a hater, a kind of alien, a strange being unrecognizable to more sophisticated Americans. Or rather, believing in the teachings of your church rather than submitting to the clucking gripes of politicized identity groups who demand you accept them on their terms only or else, why, that’s just plain evil, Shep says. Honestly, can he really get any more leftwing orthodox for you than that?

Look, I don’t watch FOX. But it sure would make me feel better knowing Smith got the love and respect from the progressive hordes he so very clearly desires.

Call it Christian charity.

What he deserves… isn’t normally referred to as “respect” or anything like that.

  2. newrouter says:

he’s in nyc man all that nasty stuff he does would come out of the closet sortof speak

  3. BigBangHunter says:

    – Fox has to keep a few Lefturds on the payroll to maintain their claims of fair amd balanced. Williams, Geraldo, and Smith are obligatory skowcase Lefties for that purpose.

    – Also they make good examples of what the Left termotes are up to at any given moment, so they do serve a purpose that way too.

    – Besides, its amusing watching them get hammered on any panel show they appear on.

  4. cranky-d says:

I’m trying to figure out when “tolerance” was re-defined to mean “full acceptance.” I know it’s been a while, because I can feel the edges of the programming that the left and the useful idiots on the right trying to make me thing the word doesn’t mean what I know it means.

As far as Fox goes, I watch the Special Report roundtable and Red Eye. I don’t watch Shep; he’s too much of a smug progressive to tolerate. I doubt they will get rid of him, though, since they are trying to move left.

  7. newrouter says:

Let us take note: if the greengrocer had been instructed to display the slogan “I am afraid and therefore unquestion~ ingly obedient;’ he would not be nearly as indifferent to its semantics, even though the statement would reflect the truth. The greengrocer would be embarrassed and ashamed to put such an unequivocal statement of his own degradation in the shop window, and quite naturally so, for he is a human being and thus has a sense of his own dignity. To overcome ihis complication, his expression of loyalty must take the form of a sign which, at least on its textual surface, indicates a level of disinterested conviction. It must allow the greengrocer to say, “What’s wrong with ihe workers of the world uniting?” Thus the sign helps the greengrocer to conceal from himself the low foundations of his obedience, at the same time concealing the low foundations of power. It hides them behind the facade of something high. And that something is ideology.

Ideology is a specious way of relating to the world. It offers human beings the illusion of an identity, of dignity, and of morality while making it easier for them to part with them. As the repository of something suprapersonal and objective, it enables people to deceive their conscience and conceal their true position and their inglorious modus vivendi, both from the world and from ihemselves. It is a very pragmatic but, at the same time, an apparently dignified way of legitimizing what is above, below, and on either side. It is directed toward people and toward God. It is a veil behind which human beings can hide their own fallen existence, their trivialization, and iheir adaptation to the status quo. It is an excuse that everyone can use, from the greengrocer, who conceals his fear of losing hisjob behind an alleged interest in the unification of the workers of the world, to the highest functionary, whose interest in staying iu power can be cloaked in phrases about service to the working class. The primary excusatory function of ideology, therefore, is to provide people, both as victims and pillars of the post-totalitarian system, with the illusion that the system is in harmony with the human order and the order of the universe.

The smaller a dictatorship and the less stratified by modernization the society under it, the more directly the will of the dictator can be exercised- In other words, the dictator can employ more or less naked discipline, avoiding the complex processes of relating to the world and of selfjustification which ideology involves.

The comment threads on those places are classy.

IT’S NOT ABOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH IT’S ABOUT CHICK-FIL-A SAID THEY DIDN’T LIKE GAYS

The guy trying to explain how an urban center wouldn’t allow a fatty fat fast-food restaurant like CFA to set-up shop anyway is

    hilarious.

When I was a kid I found Christians to be extremely intolerant of hunger, little kids without sweaters, and my ignorance in the fields of reading, writing, and arithmetic.

    What jerks.

August 1st should be henceforth #TraditionalMarriageDay. That’s one thing the LeftLibProggs can’t steal: Traditional Marriages! Of course they can mar the word ‘marriage’ with their foul faux fake ‘marriages’, but Traditional Marriages are just that.

There’s a hashtag for you. Run with it!

fun to read havel as a guide to baracky’s amerikkka. hi frank m. davis.

  13. BigBangHunter says:

    – Simple explaination. The ‘intolerance’ is on the Lefts head. They’re imtolerant of other peoples choices. This is the agitprop of a smallish group of really militant Gays. I talk about this from time to time with Gay friends, both male and female, and everyone tells me they wish the hard core idiots would just STFU.

    – Of course HuffPoop is trying gamely to keep the narrative going, but judging from the comments section of their oprnly biased article, they’re sucking donkey wads for the effort.

    – This isn’t the way it was supposed to go. But I’ve noticed that more and more over there lately, to the point where they keep comments closed on a lot of ‘articles’ these days, particularly if Waffle ears is the subject.

    – As Progressivisim crashes and burns I expect many of the hard core Lefty propaganda outlets to dissapear.

  21. leigh says:

Shep isn’t going anywhere. He owns the G Block (whatever that is supposed to mean), where he has the Cube. That whole studio is just for him and takes up almost a whole floor. He doesn’t do any in the field stuff and hasn’t for ages. He has an afternoon show and a prime time show after the six o’clock news.

Why they love him so much is anyone’s guess. I quite watching him pretty close to a year ago. He stumbles over his live feeds and can’t seem to get through more than 30 seconds without garbling his words. That and always giving the time in NYC and in Oxford, Mississippi. He’s just too annoying. He let’s his guests scream at each other, too.

    I need less of that.

  22. bh says:

Someone’s gotta link Robo-Shep, please. I’m on my phone again.

Chick-Fil-A is guilty of a serious Thought-Crime. This must be dealt with severely or it could spread.

INGSOC and Fascism may be what’s for dinner, but I would encourage everyone to “Eat mor chikin”.

  26. Jeff G. says:

Here’s the original Roboshep creation myth.

There’s also the Kurtz episode. I should probably put those all together on the sidebar at some point so that I can find them everytime Smith makes a dick of himself.

  27. newrouter says:

The massive crowd reaction locally and nationwide are driven by a loathing of arrogant politicians like those in Boston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco who feel they have the power and the authority to tell a businessman like Dan Cathy what personal opinions he can and cannot hold if he wants to do business in “their” towns.

They trampled on his religious beliefs. They trampled on his freedom of speech. They attempted to deny him and his franchisees the rights to start small businesses, merely because a free American dared to share what he believed.

Maybe it is a preference cascade. If so, you can thank Rahm.

Nice sign-off. Still true after all these years.

  30. palaeomerus says:

I’d like to see him over at CNN where the other clever “news saboteurs” hang out and make fools of themselves as their ratings crater.

I’d also like to see Greg Gutfeld run the rest of the five out of the studio with a high pressure hose and make an Augean Stables reference. When the classiest guy in a pannel used to write for the Huffington Post and Maxim the show needs to DIE.

O’Reilly… actually interviewed Alf, a no longer popular puppet.

    That’s a deal breaker.
I’d think he was a dim boob even if he figured out how the oil markets really work and stopped his lame conspiracy theories about price fixing, and even if he stopped with his “looking out for the folks” schtick which means moralizing on behalf of various DUMB, INTRUSIVE, HARD TO ENFORCE laws. The body language woman with the scary teeth just makes things worse. That pitiful live-camera doofus who asks people on the street stupid questions and then plays movie clips and music ‘snappy responses’ to the lame obviously edited answers can also go run off and make a bad clones of Deadliest Catch for the history channel or whatever as far as I’m concerned.

Justice with Judge Jeanine may be the worst thing I have ever tired to watch on TV. It’s an unlikable loud woman shouting about subjects she knows little about but has formed an opinion on and interrupting the people she asked about it like it’s a hostile cross examination. It’s worse than stupid. It’s annoying.

Fox has really picked up a lot of suck in the past three years. Lou Dobbs and John Stossel look sad there.

  31. palaeomerus says:

    “Shep isn’t going anywhere.”

Shep has looked kind of sick for a couple of years now. He’s gaunt and his color is off. He looks like a vampire or a ghoul with a bony face and deep shadowed features. I wonder if his health is okay or if he just dieting and stressing himself into a wreck. Or maybe the lighting guy hates him. But he looks bad.

  32. BigBangHunter says:

    – Moving to CNN is becoming something of a steerage booking on the Titanic on her maiden voyage.

  33. palaeomerus says:

Here’s a hyper emotional you-tube attention whore trying to ‘fight the powa’ with his big dumb foot in his big dumb mouth.

That should be stated as “lower” this needy, bug-eyed freak away from Fox already?”

I haven’t watched Shep since his languished cries during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

Just quit watching Fox News and you’ll forget about Shep (kind of like quit watching MSNBC and forgot about Chris).

  35. palaeomerus says:

    Yeah:

    higher-> hire

We want CNN to purchase his services for wages so he leaves Fox News, not send him a big bag of Blue Hawaiian…for entirely legitimate medical purposes of course.

I assume that Blue Hawaiian is still a marijuana strain/type. I’m honestly not a High Times readerm so I just get along by repeating stuff I hear from cop show, and some random people, that tend to imprudently rant about how they’re spending their Saturday afternoon, to strangers, on Xbox Live.

If I got it wrong and showed up on NARC-DAR briefly, I’m sorry. I was trying to sound hip with my meager sub-culture information resources..

The cross-dresser that dumped him for being too effeminate?

    Every time?

Up to your tonsils in free time lately, are ya?

  39. StrangernFiction says:

Fox is merely the right wing of the State Run Media. Why a conservative would patronize them is beyond me.

My best guess is after the 2006 midterms. And I don’t think they mean “full acceptance.” I think they mean “shut up and deal! bitches.”

    bh:

When I was a kid I found Christians to be extremely intolerant of hunger, little kids without sweaters, and my ignorance in the fields of reading, writing, and arithmetic.

    What jerks

That was really wrong of them to impose their values on you like that. We need to insist on our right to natural ignorance, indolence and sloth. How else are we going to laze about on a beach and discover ourselves?

    leigh:

(I don’t care what leigh said, because it doesn’t matter. I just needed one more comment to complete the gag.)

    /troofbot.

  41. Ernst Schreiber says:

I don’t have cable, so I didn’t see Shep. I thought ABC’s coverage was tendentious. Likely, so was everyone elses.

  42. SDN says:

Unfortunately, it ain’t just the Lefties……

And Ed Morrissey makes a connection I doubt he intended to:

we have lost a fundamental liberty: the right to conduct commerce while retaining freedom of religious expression.

    Revelation 13:16-18 ESV
Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.

  43. Pablo says:

Give Shep credit, he’s stayed closeted longer than Anderson.

He’s done it just as convincingly too.

  44. leigh says:

Shep was (operative word) married to a woman about 20 years ago. I hope she’s getting spousal support.

  45. McGehee says:

Bill Quick is a crank. And not the good kind.

  46. Car in says:

My dislike of Shep is only overshadowed by the style of his hour-long “news” show. With the “depth” he gives to the issues, I can just read the news crawl on the bottom of the screen.

  47. leigh says:

Bill Quick is a crank. And not the good kind.

True. I heard Bob Beckel say that the TEA Party is the death knell of the GOP. I think so, too, but not in the same way he did.

Why is it that when the lefties try to shove their “values” (sorry sdferr) down our throats, it’s okay. But stick up for the USC and you’re a crazy wingnut?

  48. Ernst Schreiber says:

    Bill Quick is right.

When it comes to the First Amendment, and government officials trying to punish a man for exercising his first amendment rights by hurting his business, I am bigoted.

  49. SDN says:

leigh, on most Constitutional issues, Bill Quick is on the side of light. But whenever anything hinting at religion, especially religion and gays, comes up, he flips.

  50. Ernst Schreiber says:

Is Bill Quick looking to get gay married or something? Because I can’t understand what’s got his knickers in a knot about Chick-Fil-A being served at Cruz’s election night rally.

*And let’s remember, it was an election night rally. The food would have been the food regardless of the outcome. If Cruz had lost a close race, would Quick be chortling concerned about unhelpful socons & their “issues”?

  51. leigh says:

SDN, then he sounds more like a big-L Libertarian than a small-l one. He’s one of those guys who I know who he is, but don’t look to for words of wisdom.

  52. Ernst Schreiber says:

What’s really stupid about that post of Professor Jacobson’s that Quick is reacting to is that Jacabson’s post is about the politically correct reaction, and Quick is siding with the reactionaries.

Lotta bitter-clingers out there, it seems.

  53. Jeff G. says:

Oops: “hire” is what I meant, naturally.

I don’t watch FOX. They’re too easily bullied by the left.

  54. leigh says:

What do you watch? I know you have a teevee with two kiddos in the home.

  55. mojo says:

Ok, Shep, for the last time (I hope): What I’m looking for in a newscast is, y’know, the news, not your fucking opinion about same. Doesn’t mean you can’t have one (hell, everybody has one, just like assholes), it just means I don’t give a fuck what it is.

  56. Jeff G. says:

I get my news daily by keeping pw running. I listen to Levin, usually the next day, on podcast so I don’t have to listen to commercials.

Beyond that I watch tv for entertainment, not news. Though I may tune in to FOX if Palin is being interviewed, eg.

But honestly? I’d rather watch Maddow than O’Reilly.

  57. Pablo says:

leigh, on most Constitutional issues, Bill Quick is on the side of light. But whenever anything hinting at religion, especially religion and gays, comes up, he flips.

Who wants to explain to him the faith and motivations of the Founding Fathers?

  58. leigh says:

Oh good. I don’t watch any of their evening programing after the six o’clock news (which comes on at 5 here). O’Reilly is a moron. Hannity is intolerable. Sometimes I’ll catch Greta if she is interviewing someone I am interested.

I’m with you, television is entertainment for me in the evenings. Movies, true crime, dramas. Most comedies are too lowbrow. I heard plenty of penis jokes growing up with three brothers, thanks.

  59. Jeff G. says:

I deleted my last comment because I hadn’t followed Pablo’s link and I misunderstood it to mean that Bill was attacking me for my fundraising, as some others on the right have done in the past when I’ve disagreed with one of their arguments.

He wasn’t. In fact, he was supporting me. And I do appreciate it.

    My apologies.

  60. Pablo says:

Ooooh. That Chick-Fil-A really does hate teh gheys.

  61. McGehee says:

leigh: SDN, then he sounds more like a big-L Libertarian than a small-l one.

Ernst Schreiber: What’s really stupid about that post of Professor Jacobson’s that Quick is reacting to is that Jacabson’s post is about the politically correct reaction, and Quick is siding with the reactionaries.

And there’s the thing. You can’t be a small-L libertarian and be a reactionary. Bill Quick is just a crank.

  62. palaeomerus says:

“Bill Quick is a crank. And not the good kind.”

His whole comment section is him saying “bullshit and you know it.” to anyone who challenges his stupid froth. Then he claims that 1/3 of the country who he assumes are so-cons want all gays imprisoned and tells someone that instead of calling shenanigans they need to come up with evidence that his 1/3 figure is wrong.

So I conclude that he’s just an angry, dishonest, deluded idiot and and not a libertarian at all.
