Why we need to raise the death tax

“Wisconsin Reporter Exclusive: 460 inmates collected unemployment checks in 2011.”

See?  This kind of governmental incompetence and waste doesn’t fund itself.  So pony up, “the rich” / farmers / small business owners.   There’s no reason inmates should have to suffer without a stipend so that your family can be gifted shit upon your death that the spoiled brats don’t deserve.

Even if the Democrats got all the tax increases they wanted, it still wouldn’t come close to paying for the level of spending they (and their statist GOP cohorts) desire.

It’s almost like the tax increase kerfuffle is supposed to distract us from the enormous debt or something.

How many of them voted? In other states?

The new American civil war will be between the fat, lazy, and stupid against the smart, self-sufficient, and moral.

…That is going to be weird as hell. Still time to avoid it, GOP.

You might be surprised about which side they are on.

  5. cranky-d says:

    I wouldn’t be surprised, George.

  6. BigBangHunter says:

    – Maybe its time to raise the dead instead of the tax. With all the Zombies we already have I’m not sure we’d notice a difference.

  7. BigBangHunter says:

OT – Well maybe not if they decide to start taxing murder.

    – Anyway, looks like you win the Waring blender door prize Leigh.

  8. leigh says:

Heh. That’s awesome, BBH. Margaritas for everyone!

  9. BigBangHunter says:

    – I found the “press account inaccuracies” concerning the norebook entries interesting. Not the least bit surprising, but interesting, and unfortunate for his defense teams efforts.

Although its rather pointless in pursuing defendents rights when your defendent will probably get, as a minimum, 12 concurent life sentences.

I’d like to know who opened the package with the notebook in it. Was it police? Someone in the mail room? Since it’s contents have been leaked in the news, the judge can throw it out as predjudicial to the defendant’s defense. But like you say, he’s on his way to SuperMax.

If someone other than police opened the package, they are lucky it wasn’t packed with explosives a la the Unabomber. It will be interesting to read the transcripts from his doctor’s testimony. We have miles to go before a trial, though. It won’t likely go to docket before next year, if not longer.

  11. newrouter says:

Beyond that, he hopes to have a Republican President in January and very much looks forward to working with him to cut Washington spending,” said a spokesperson for McConnell.

McConnell’s position is supported by Republicans across the political spectrum. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), as well as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) back a proposal to negotiate a continuing government funding resolution that will take Congress past the election. DeMint has expressed the notion that he wants to avoid Democrats using the continuing resolution to leverage Congress into accepting liberal budget proposals, including additional spending and tax increases.

“The only way to protect the taxpayers from this premeditated mugging,” said DeMint, “is for the House to pass, before the August recess, a fiscally responsible continuing resolution to extend federal operations well into the new year. Then, Senate Republicans can force a vote on the CR, forcing Democrats to explain – to the American people – why they are seeking a government shutdown crisis. Taking the threat of a government shutdown off the table will allow a serious debate about tax and spending policy before the elections.”

I think this is a good move by McConnell. It’s either that or they run out of money on 30 September and hand Obama another whip to crack them with.

  13. BigBangHunter says:

    – I watched McConnell really stick it to both Reid and Biden the other day on C-Span during the tax increase debates on the Senate floor. It was hilarious. Even Biden was laughing.

    – Olympic TV note: The opening ceremonies (tape delayed) is showing an airing time of 7:30 pm PST on NBC affiliates. Adjust time according to your local TZ.

    – One highlite to look for – James Bond and the Queen herself paragliding into O;ympic stadium from a heliocopter (stunt doubles of course).

  14. leigh says:

I saw a clip of McConnell yesterday. He looked like the cat that ate the canary.

Did you see Mike Kelly (R-PA) getting a standing ovation on the house floor today? Rs were chanting “USA! USA”

I haven’t seen much of the Olympics. I did see a clip of the Queen and Bond, though. The Brits have a great sense of humor when they don’t have a stick up their butts.

  15. BigBangHunter says:

    – I heard about the Kelly thing. Of course our ever loyal media tried to feame it as “Kelly acts up on the Senate floor”.

    – I watched a little PBS last evening. Its funny to watcg them struggle to keep a happy face these days when they’re forced to report on Obama.

    – Obamas camp is in all out panic uver the “You didn’t build that” thing, and everything they’ve tried to push back with has been another disaster. They first tried to run an ad claiming it was taken out of context, so Romneys people made a followup ad that showed the whole 3+ minutes of Obama’s speech. Net result; ten times worse. Obama is totally on the defensive. Latest Rasmussen has Romney +5.

    – Dipstick should be grateful to heaven for the Olympic distraction.

  16. leigh says:

The Olympics are only what? 10 days or two weeks long? He can’t hide for long.

In the meantime, Romney gets facetime with Netanyahu and is then going to Poland where he’s going to meet with the Polish president/premier/whatever (and I think, Lech Walesa, if I heard right). That will do him good in Ohio and Pennsylvania, where there are boatloads of Poles. In fact, almost all the battleground states in the midwest have a lot of Poles.

The Brits are backing off on the “gaffe” thing, too about Olympic securtiy issues. Peirs Morgan (!!) of all people, the guy who took Larry King’s job, stuck up for Romney and told the Brits to step off. Stopped clocks and all that.

  17. BigBangHunter says:

    – Well of course every time Romney makes an appearence, regardless of what he says, the Left try to bury it in a facalade of agitprop BS becayse they know their idiot is really sucking fumes at this point.

    – Really, from here on in its Romneys to lose, and he’d have to make an awfully huge bunggle, even at that. The Left is fighting just to try to rally their base and stay relevent. We’ve got months of potentially bad CBO reports to wade through.

    – An incumbant president with anything going for him at all should be up at least 15 points at this stage, let alone trailing. His record is so awful hes totally lost that advantage.

  18. BigBangHunter says:

    – Back on topic. Hell, the dead should be raised, The Democrats raise the dead to vote, why shouldn’t they pay taxes too.

    – Its only fair.

  19. leigh says:

    Zombie tax? I like it.

A little light in the darkness–the HHS mandate took it in the shorts today, courtesy of a Colorado a/c manufacturer.

  22. Ernst Schreiber says:

I think this is a good move by McConnell. It’s either that or they run out of money on 30 September and hand Obama another whip to crack them with.

Just like the debt ceiling increase and the one year Bush tax cut extensions were “good” moves.

How about instead of trying to pass the buck to the House, McConnell lights a fire under Reid’s ass and make him and his Democrat colleagues finally live up to their Constitutional responsibility and pass a fucking budget? It’s only been three years since the last one.

  23. BigBangHunter says:

    – The Democrats should be changed to the Zombie party. The caring Progressives….They care about your blood. They could change their logo from a jackass to a statue of Bella Lagosi.

    – Would make some of their registered voters feel right at home.

  24. SDN says:

BBH, there’s a reason for the mass of movies and books coming out of Hollywood showing vampires as heroes and not so bad. The ultimate parasites, distracting you with sexy while sucking you dry.

Sound like any political class we know?

  25. leigh says:

Ernst, there was a budget submitted and soundly rejected by the Ds just a while back. Thus, here we are.

  26. Ernst Schreiber says:

Yup, here we are, Without a budget, because the Democrats wouldn’t pass one. Again. Not, contrary to what we all know the mediacrats are going to say, because the House doesn’t want to pass a continuing resolution.

If the Republicans don’t have either the courage or the intelligence to make that case to the American people, then there’s no point in supporting them. Any of them, let alone the feckless crapweasely leadership.

(Sorry for the much later reply, ‘nother busy busy busy weekend.)

  27. leigh says:

I hear ya. I’m sick of all of them, too.
