“Yes the US EPA chooses to make 34.4% equal to 100%.” [Darleen Click]

How the EPA disobeys the laws of thermodynamics

Is this just another way for a do good government to dictate that the least smart student in the class gets an A. The socialist inspired nincompoops at the EPA believe the plug in needs higher grades just because three Nobel Prize winners told them so. Two of the prize winners won for peace the other for physics.

The EPA allows plug in vehicle makers to claim an equivalent miles per gallon (MPG) based on the electricity powering the cars motors being 100% efficient. This implies the electric power is generated at the power station with 100% efficiency, is transmitted and distributed through thousands of miles of lines without any loss, is converted from AC to DC without any loss, and the charge discharge efficiency of the batteries on the vehicle is also 100%. Of course the second law of thermodynamics tells us all of these claims are poppycock and that losses of real energy will occur in each step of the supply chain of getting power to the wheels of a vehicle powered with an electric motor.

But but but, it’s fundie, young earth creationist, bitter-clinging Rethuglicans & Teabagging Partyers that are anti-Science!

Obama is within his power to repeal those oppressive LAWS of thermodynamics … for the childrens!

For people that are always wailing about how they are on the side of science, they sure don’t practice it.

They also neglect to mention that that electricity generation is likely being done by a facility that produces what they have designated as pollution and that they intend to drive those facilities into bankruptcy and closing.

Where do they intend to derive the power to charge those electric doodlebugs then? And at what cost to the owner?

If electricity costs a $1.00 a killowatt, how economical will even a car that gets 100mpg or is 100% efficienct?

This just shows that Nixon was a progressive Liberal and not a conservative. Him and Poppy Bush.

that electricity generation is likely being done by a facility that produces what they have designated as pollution.

remember most of this is California-driven, so a lot of those emissions take place out of state cause failshit california can’t build new power generation facilities unless they’re boutiquey highly-subsidized wind/solar ones

so then the EPA gets to ass-fuck Texas and New Mexico for making the power for California is how this works

When you as a non leftist hear the term “reality based” you are supposed to hear “rational, analytical, objective, empirical, observation based”.

But that’s not what it means.

What is means is “on the right side of history’s inevitable dialectic progress towards a utopia”. It”s just a less obnoxious form of “Revolutionary truth,” “Lysenkoism,” or ” the new anti-oppressor founded science of the proletariat.”

Sadly the material energetic universe that science tries to measure and describe is not a social construction and can’t be hidden from the minds of people with much success for long.

Lying about how well a machine works won’t make the machine any better or worse than it really is. It might or might not boost sales or hold them down. But ultimately the machine is what it is and anyone who uses it will eventually see what it is.

    – Darleen, this is why you’ll never win a Pulitzer. You simply do not understand the nuanced thinking of your oh so elite betters.

    – How many times must you be told?

    – Everything is 100% efficient when you’re paying for it with other peoples money.

    Hysteresis.

    That’s what it’s called.

  7. BigBangHunter says:

    – Personally I prefer the term “Hystericaldynamics”.

Uhhh, how much electricity is in a gallon again?

Indeed. And is accompanied by other powers as well, powers fit to declare ‘thus and such is so and so’:

This is not a legal matter, it’s a political and policy issue. If Obama ordered or approved the leaks, there is no crime, since he’s the declassifier-in-chief; he can reveal anything he wishes, without legal consequence. Turning this over to lawyers and judges would be just one more case of the criminalization of policy. If you oppose Obama’s expansion of assassinations, say so, and challenge the policy. Don’t act as if leaking details about a practice the whole world has known about for years is the central issue.

If, in fact, the leaks themselves were part of a systematic deception of the American people, that should be made plain, and those who designed and conducted the deception should pay the political price for their lies.

    Price? Ha. That’s a laugh.

    – Enough to power the entire earth for many centuries.

    – But you better find a way to release it slowly, or it could ruin your whoke day.

    – Oppenhiemer mentionrs in his memoirs that as he prepared to throw the switch on the first atom bomb test at White sands New Mexico:

“I thought to myself – well here goes – either I’ll go down in history as a leader in science or we’ll all meet again in heaven…”

Why go to the trouble of practicing it when affecting a pose has the same effect?

On policy, that is. Not on science.

Thermodynamics is on the wrong side of history. It must be dealt with.
