Remember the Iraqi woman singled-out by the President during his State of the Union address? Well, her name is Safia Taleb Al Souhail, and it turns out she actually supports the president—and has in the past supported those bloodthirsty neocons who, like her, thought getting rid of the tyrant who’d murdered her father was a good idea.
The partisan bitch.*
Question one: Why didn’t Liar McChimpyburton have the guts to invite an Iraqi who, say, supported Howard Dean’s plan to leave Saddam in power?—or Teddy Kennedy’s plan to pull the troops out of Iraq now?¹ Question two: Why does this administration continue to give face time to people who support its policies—and, similarly, important cabinet positions to people who agree with its strategies for implementing those policies? WHAT IS THIS ADMINISTRATION AFRAID OF?
Well, I’ll tell you what they are afraid of: dissent! And fear of dissent is the first sign of an encroaching fascist dictatorship run by corporatist, theocratic puppet Masons of the new oligarchy.
FIGHT THE POWER, KOS! FIGHT THE POWER, OLIVER!
¹These are rhetorical questions intended to raise symbolic issues. Clearly, no one actually expects the President to have found such an Iraqi, as all Iraqis fitting this particular description are currently part of the ongoing insurgency against the incipient Iraqi democracy and against coalition troops. As such, they are, you know—busy.

Don’t forget the Rosicrucians and the Trilateral Commission, Jeff.
Glad to see you finally understand the Democratic position, Jeff. A few months late, but now you’re in position to help Hillary in ‘08. More posts like these, and you’ve be pulling down Kos-level Benjamins in no time.
Shouldn’t KOS and the McMeal Deal be thankful we still let Jimmy Carter watch the SOTL?
Considering his affinity for bomb-belts?
Al Souhail represents the Iraqis, Carter represents machete-rapists–isn’t this fair all involved?
As a Citizen Reader, I appreciate the way you speak mirth to power.
Are we “Citizen REaders”, or “Citizen Commenters”? Regardless… reading Natan Sharansky’s book (chapter 2 so far) – it is the fear TO dissent, isn’t it, that is the first sign of tyranny? Because, you know, we got that dissenting thing covered here.
PRESIDENT BUSH/HITLER, AS A CITIZEN COMMENTER I’M STARTING A DISSENTALANCH!
(password “piece,” luv, and dope, man)
No @$$wipe, they’re not just busy these days, they’ve been busy for years. They’re just using a different arena to kill their fellow citizens these days. Do you realize the body count now is less than the body count when your fellow @$$wipes held power over there?
CUCKOO!
Glad to see the dems talking point getting out. That is only the 5th time I have heard that today. I wonder how they know how many are in the mass graves. I don’t think they have counted them yet. Also, did Saddam keep a tally somewhere?
Just wondering.
John McCain and Chuck Hagel were busy?
“@$$wipe?” Do you come here often, redred? Because if you don’t, have you ever seen that scene in “Cat Ballou” where Lee Marvin blows out the funeral candles?
redredred oughta register the domain $$wipe.com, if that’s possible.
Oliver Willis,
“Like lodestone to stupid.”
Have we learned nothing from the IraqTheModel controversy?
The now-defunct site was http://www.i-a-j.org. I-A-J. [I]’m [A] [J]ew.
This “Iraqi” is actually may have been a Zionist Likudnikoidite.
I thought we all agreed Willis will now and forever be known as “Baghdad Blob”?
It has a much nicer ring to it.
So what does “like kryptonite to stupid” mean anyway?
Well, Tom, it sounded really edgy and hip until we say how Baghdad Blob put it in practice.
All kidding aside. Where did this argument regarding dissenters as a part of the majority, or dissenters deserving of a place in the cabinet, come from? Is this supposed to be sophisticated discourse?
The suggestion of such a course is an admission of pure simpleminded stupidity.
The Democrats have (essentially) lost three national elections in a row, and yet assert they should have a place at the table–otherwise it is proof of fascism.
The self-parody continues…
