Zimmerman family member to NAACP: ““If something happens to George as a result of the race furor stirred up by this mischaracterization of George there will be blood on your hands as well as the rest of the racists that have rushed to judgment.”

Turns out this “White Hispanic” racist / neighborhood watch captain spoke publicly on behalf of a black homeless man beaten by the son of a Sanford police officer.  In between his racial profiling classes, likely.

But Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the New Black Panther Party, and the NAACP’s Turner Clayton, in their rush to organize marches and bounties and “civil disobedience,” evidently missed that bit of Zimmerman’s history.  Oops!

Of course, one can forgive Shaprton, Jackson, et al. — after all, to them, the specifics of the case don’t matter, and the people involved in such cases are merely cartoon foils in a pre-constructed narrative that’s been constructed to propel the race industry into high dudgeon whenever certain conditions are met:  a “white” man (which we now know can be stretched to include a half Peruvian with blacks in the family) can be accused of committing violence against a black whom he is said to have “racially profiled” — in this case, the proof being that he noted that Trayvon Martin was wearing a hoodie, and that, when pressed by the 911 dispatch officer to describe Martin’s color, he identified him as possibly black.

Having relied entirely on the national media’s despicable editings of that call and initial media descriptions of Zimmerman as a “white” (and subsequently, other instances of media malpractice), the national race baiters had their narrative — the fact that Martin was an unarmed teen and Zimmerman a zealous protector of private property was probably the real selling point, in fact — and the pre-fabbed “protests” and “marches” and cries for “justice” were set in motion.

This is who they are.  This is what they do.

And they were given the imprimatur of the President of the United States, who intentionally inserted himself into the story.  Race warfare, class warfare, sexual warfare — these are the hallmarks of a progressive ideology that uses identity politics to create competing blocs it then sets against one another — even as it lays claim to being their individual champions.  Divide and conquer.  And all the while, offer yourself as the committed political solution to the crises you have cynically nurtured.

Daily Caller:

The family member, whose identity TheDC has confirmed but is withholding out of concern for the Zimmerman family’s safety, said George Zimmerman “has been found guilty” in the court of public opinion “until proven innocent,” adding that the details of what happened on Feb. 26 — the night Zimmerman shot Martin in what he claims was self-defense — “will not be disclosed until the police report is made public.”

“Regardless of this fact, George Zimmerman has been hiding for his life because of the death threats made against him by the black community … all of our family is in hiding and frankly scared by the threats,” the family member wrote in the letter dated March 26, but shared with TheDC on Monday.

“There has been an unprecedented rush to judge George regardless of the facts. The black community as a whole has turned their backs and blindly followed the furor stirred up by self-proclaimed leaders of your community. These leaders have rallies and chant horrible things of a person they know nothing about.”

The letter also described how Zimmerman was one of “very few” in Sanford, Fla., who spoke out publicly to condemn the “beating of the black homeless man Sherman Ware on December 4, 2010 by the son of a Sanford police officer.”

“Do you know the individual that stepped up when no one else in the black community would?” the family member wrote. “Do you know who spent tireless hours putting flyers on the cars of persons parked in the churches of the black community? Do you know who waited for the church?goers to get out of church so that he could hand them fliers in an attempt to organize the black community against this horrible miscarriage of justice? Do you know who helped organize the City Hall meeting on January 8th, 2011 at Sanford City Hall??”

“That person was GEORGE ZIMMERMAN. Ironic isn’t it?”

“The main point for this letter is to explain to you that the black community has labeled George a racist without any investigation at all,” the letter continued. “Regardless of the fact that George personally spoke to many of your constituents, not one has stepped forward and said, ‘Hey I know that face. That is the Hispanic guy that was standing up for Sherman Ware. That was the only non?black face in the meetings for justice in this case.’”

“You know as well as I do that there are many NAACP followers that recognize George from the Ware case as well as many other good things that he’s done for the black community.”

If this is indeed the case — that Zimmerman was known to the local minor league affiliates of the League of Extraordinary Race Baiters  for his advocacy in a case that involved the shooting of a black homeless man, one in which he stood up publicly against the son of a local police officer — and these local “race” leaders remained silent while the national race baiters worked to string Zimmerman up, then such cowardice cannot and should not go unremarked.

Much of this case and the reaction to it has been despicable; the mob mentality that’s been promoted is horrific and works to weaken public trust in the rule of law.

But to allow the public scapegoating of a man based on suggestions that he is “racist” — when you know for a fact that he has proven himself at the very least racially dispassionate — is perhaps the most despicable act of cowardice in a case that seems to provide a never-ending supply of the stuff.

  1. Blake says:

Jeff, you make an interesting point: The media obligingly supplied the required narrative for the usual suspects.

I want to see how these disgusting race baiters spin this letter. Of course, MBM will do their best to force this letter down the memory hole.

  2. McGehee says:

Where’s Don McLean? I want to hear a rousing chorus of “The Day the Narrative Died.”

  3. Crawford says:

Yeah, but doesn’t this just prove that Zimmerman was a busybody who stuck his nose out once too many times?!

Yes, seriously, I’ve heard that. Now, I haven’t nearly the community spirit Zimmerman has, but I’m grateful people like him exist, and think they should be defended, not lynched.

What strikes me is that, if this is true, then we have a picture of Zimmerman as someone who apparently had some rough times/youthful problems in the past, but apparently got his life together and went out of his way to help people — to the point where his neighbors say they felt fortunate to have him in the neighborhood.

Complete text of letter at scribd.

  5. sdferr says:

Zimmerman goes into the most horrific episode of his life a free Democrat on principle, comes out the other side an incarcerated Democrat on principle? Spliff!

  6. Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
    Perhaps they’ll listen now.

  8. Ernst Schreiber says:

Personally, I’d say that Martin had armed himself with the sidewalk, but maybe that’s just me.

  9. Crawford says:

JHoward — how about the story linked in the comments, about Minneapolis considering a curfew because of the rampaging yutes?

  10. DarthLevin says:

Funny, when the NYT says “There are white Hispanics”, I hear it in Robert Byrd’s voice.

  11. JHoward says:

Justified, Crawford. The particulars don’t matter when you have the very spectre of a spectre to conquer. And it’s up to normals to be tolerant.

    See, it all fits.

  12. Dave J says:

GZ is a “white Hispanic” as BHO is a white African American.

No, no. The template is father’s race first, mother’s race second. Obama is a black-white.

And who the hell is giving these people MY number anyway?

  25. Swen says:

Funny how this whole story has dropped out of sight in the last couple of days. For awhile there we had the daily dose of ‘the white hispanic, who by the way had a long criminal record, wasn’t arrested and his gun wasn’t taken away and even if his gun was confiscated and he was taken to jail in handcuffs it wasn’t a real arrest and he didn’t have a scratch on him and even if he did have a big gash on the back of his head he chased down poor little Trayvon and called him bad names and even if the bad names can’t be confirmed because of the bad audio quality we can confirm from that same tape that it wasn’t Zimmerman’s voice calling for help and..’

As someone wrote recently, the guiding principle of the Media used to be ‘if yo mamma says she loves you check out her story’. That’s gone totally out the window and they’ve been willing tools in this case, but slow learners as they are even the lamestream media can figure out they’re being chumped at some point.
