Catholic Archbishop Kidnapped in Iraq

Reuters:

The Catholic archbishop of the Iraqi city of Mosul was kidnapped Monday in what the Vatican called an “act of terrorism.”

Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls told Reuters the Holy See had received news of the kidnapping of Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa in Mosul. The spokesman demanded his immediate release but gave no details of the abduction.

Because Abu Ghraib. And the Inquisition. And rosary beads. And the Crusades.  And those big funny hats.  And The Omen. And Bill O’Reilly.  And a few carb-heavy pasta dishes the mini-Satans in Rome like to force on the rest of the world…

  1. Beck says:

This is one snuff-film-in-production that could change a lot of opinions.  Yeah, a lot of people will still find a way to blame the United States, but a lot more will realize who it was that held the knife.  And why.

  2. ”…in what the Vatican called an ‘act of terrorism.’”

But what Reuters apparently thinks is too ambiguous to call an act of terrorism. Hell, one man could call kidnapping a bishop, soon no doubt to be beheaded an act of freedom fighting.

    God, the media are scum.

I must issue a complaint – you hardly EVER have any good depictions of Arabs or Muslims her at PW.  And, now this story.  You know, there are good muslims out there, and all this negativity … You and Fox. I’m calling the ACLU. And CAIR. How do we know it was terrorism? I bet it was a bunch of German robbers …like in Die Hard.

  4. The Oracle says:

Yeah, that’s it. German Lutherans. Damn them!

  5. Tim says:

This is really unfortunate.  Too bad for us the one thing we really need to be doing, terrorizing the terrorists, is the one thing we can’t do for fear of becoming the animals they are.

  6. I don’t know, Tim.  Does the Orkin man become an animal?

  7. Ana says:

    Kidnapping an Archbishop.

Someone is SO going to hell.

  8. jon says:

Jeff, how could you forget the real reason for the “kidnapping”?  The “terrorists” did it for the children.  It’s all for the children.

If you and your pie-demanding brethren can’t see the underlying facts behind the news, I’ll have to run my own citizen-journalist expose which will once and for all prove that you are not nearly as clever as your hundreds of fans think you are.  This will be your first of many warnings.  Don’t make me have to do some actual work, now.

As a CITIZEN JOURNALIST MY FANS ARE LEGION.  THE RESPECT OF THE WORLD IS MINE!

  10. Carin says:

Oh yea, Citizen Journalist? Just wait until CAIR gets ahold of you …

(my word is “choice” … fess up, how much is planned parenthood paying you?)

  11. JWebb says:

A Catholic archbishop kidnapped by Muslim extremists? What we have here is a failure to excommunicate.

  12. jon says:

“Ye shall eat of pie, yet the crust shall hold in its pieishness mealy bits of undercooked foodstuffs!  All shall retch in its unsavoriness as it is imbibed in great quantities as it fulfills the unquenchable appetites of your legions!”

Thus sayeth some guy on public access television!

  13. mitchieville says:

What you Catholics call “terrorists”, we at Yahoo would prefer it if you would refer to them as assailants, militants or freedom fighters. I would kindly ask that you re-phrase all your negative connotations by never mentioning the word “terrorists” again.

I’m sure Kid Rock played a role in this, too.
