"FCC moves ahead with plans to require full disclosure for broadcast advertisers"

The attack on private-sector capitalism — and, as such, free enterprise itself — continues apace. Cronyism is refigured as universalism; stifling speech is refigured as transparency.

Notes Jon Henke in an email:

I cannot emphasize this enough. The whole “Occupy Wall Street” thing is being used as the tip of the spear for more regulations and legislation aimed at eliminating the ability of capitalists to defend themselves against the (“non-profit”) activists and Foundations on the Left.

They talk about ‘government transparency’, but they always seem to care more about applying rules and restrictions to everybody outside of government.

For the government sector to take over the private sector, it must first grant itself special permission to treat the private sector like a Golden Corral buffet.

And our tax money buys their Groupons.

I’m guessing that any stations who run ads funded by unidentified Leftist groups will be investigated and punished every bit as much as stations who run ads by their counterparts on the Right. I mean, selective enforcement? From this Administration? Pshaw!

Republicans’ economic proposals are inflexible, insincere, selfish and motivated by the pursuit of partisan advantage rather than by a concern for Americans, according to President Barack Obama’s statements to an international press conference at the G-20 meeting Friday morning.

“As soon as I get some signal from Congress that they’re willing to take their responsibilities seriously, I think we can do more [for the economy], but that is going to require them to break out of the rigid ideological positions they’ve been taking,” he told the assembled media in Cannes, France.

Nice. Must have been angling for the votes of the international press.
